Our stay at this hotel was simply beyond our expectations. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, everything was exceptional.
The hotel is located in a lovely area, making it a great base to explore Malta. On arrival, one of the staff members even gave us a map and took the time to recommend places we should visit, which was a really thoughtful touch and helped us make the most of our trip.
The staff throughout the hotel were genuinely kind, welcoming, and always happy to help. We also had Club Lounge access, and it was one of the highlights of our stay. The evening canapés were delicious, and the complimentary drinks between 5 pm and 7 pm made it even more enjoyable. The breakfast was fantastic every morning with plenty of choice.
The housekeeping team deserves special recognition. Our room was spotless every single day, with fresh towels, sparkling clean sinks and taps, and thoughtful attention to every little detail. We never had to call housekeeping because everything was always taken care of before we even thought to ask.
One evening, after eating outside the hotel, we both felt unwell. At around 1 am, we called room service to ask if we could have some lemon juice, and they kindly brought it to our room free of charge. It was such a thoughtful gesture that we really appreciated.
Another thing that stood out was how safe we felt. I accidentally left my handbag open in the room one day, and everything was exactly where I had left it. That gave us complete peace of mind throughout our stay.
The indoor pool was another highlight. During our visit, Malta was experiencing an exceptional heat wave, so spending time around the outdoor pool wasn’t always comfortable. Having a clean, well maintained indoor pool meant we could still relax and enjoy the facilities without missing out.
I also made use of the gym, and it had all the essential equipment needed for a holiday workout. The only small suggestion I have would be to include lighter dumbbells, such as 2 kg and 4 kg, alongside the existing weights. That would make it even better for guests of all fitness levels.
Even after we checked out at 12 noon, our flight wasn’t until later that evening. The hotel safely stored our luggage and even offered us facilities to shower and change before heading to the airport. It was a level of hospitality that made our last day so much more comfortable.
Every member of staff made us feel genuinely cared for, and it was the little things that made this stay so memorable. We left with wonderful memories and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Malta.
Hyatt Regency Malta is one of those hotels that genuinely makes you feel at home. I stayed here for a solo trip, and from the very beginning I felt welcomed by a team that clearly cares about its guests.
The staff were consistently kind, professional and approachable throughout my stay. I would especially like to recognize the Italian concierge girl, whose recommendations and assistance were incredibly helpful. Her local knowledge genuinely enhanced my experience in Malta and made planning my days effortless.
The housekeeping team also deserves special praise. My room was cleaned to an excellent standard every day, and everything was consistently immaculate.
The hotel's facilities are excellent. I particularly appreciated the indoor pool and the fact that it was rarely crowded, making it a peaceful place to unwind. Having the spa available 24 hours a day is another feature I found extremely valuable and one that I made great use of during my stay.
That said, there are a few areas where I believe the guest experience could be further improved.
The room service food unfortunately did not meet the same standard as the rest of the hotel. It was perfectly acceptable, but considering the overall quality of the property, I expected something more memorable. (Also as a note, the menu available when you scan the QR code on your room card, takes you to the old 2025 menu which is not being used..)
Breakfast was another area that left mixed impressions. While the buffet offered a good variety, I was uncomfortable with the fact that every guest had to touch the same serving utensils. From a hygiene perspective, this is something I personally find far from ideal.
The design of some buffet stations also felt unnecessarily impractical. For example, the containers for the scrambled eggs required balancing the plate in a small space, lifting a heavy lid with one hand while serving with the other. It sounds like a small detail, but during a busy breakfast service it becomes noticeably inconvenient.
I was also disappointed by some of the fresh fruit. The apples, in particular, felt sticky to the touch and lacked flavour, which was surprising considering the otherwise high standards of the hotel.
The room itself was modern and comfortable, but there were two aspects that affected my stay.
Although the windows were closed, outside noise from nearby clubs and nightlife remained quite noticeable during the evening and at night. As well as the noise made by the wind.. Given the hotel's lively location, this is understandable, but guests who are sensitive to noise should be aware.
The biggest frustration, however, was the balcony lighting. The exterior lights remained on throughout the night with no option for the guest to switch them off. As someone who enjoys sleeping with the curtains open and waking naturally with the morning light, I found myself forced to close the blackout curtains every night simply to block the constant light coming from outside.
In addition, the sheer curtains offered virtually no daytime privacy, as it was very easy to see into the room from outside unless the blackout curtains were completely closed.
Despite these points, what I will remember most is how comfortable the hotel made me feel. The friendliness of the staff, the excellent housekeeping, the outstanding spa facilities and the overall welcoming atmosphere more than made up for the smaller issues.
I would happily stay at Hyatt Regency Malta again and would confidently recommend it to anyone visiting the island, particularly those looking for a modern hotel with excellent service in one of Malta's most convenient locations.
We paid for the regency club which meant we had a top floor (10th level) sea view room and had access to soft and hot drinks during the day and canapaes and alcoholic drinks from 5-7pm each evening.
This was beneficial as we spent our break as a holiday and based ourselves at the hotel each day, but if you are planning to go sight seeing or further afield, this isn’t necessary. All the rooms are looking over the front of the hotel terrace and have nice views.
Breakfast was plentiful and a welcome meal each day.
The location of the hotel is ideal for the resort, St Julian’s and Spinola Bay.
It has a lovely rooftop pool on the 11th floor and a sun deck up on the 12th floor (access only via steps) although the deck is noisy due to the AC units and generators.
Housekeeping is daily and faultless, everywhere is exceptionally clean.
The only negative we found was that while the rooms are non-smoking, people smoked on their balconies which meant we didn’t sit out on ours and kept our patio door closed, as our room otherwise stank of smoke.
People also smoked round the pool and decks, which would have been kinder for everyone else if there had been a specific smoking area and no smoking on the balconies too.
Otherwise, the hotel was perfect!
Lovely hotel in a great area. Fantastic housekeeping staff. Great spa facilities and rooftop pool Friendly and attentive staff
