This hotel is located at the centre of the city, in the famous St. Julian district, and is within walking distance from the nearest local beach. The hotel is located in the Paceville area of St Julians, full of restaurants, bars and clubs, only 450 m from Spinola Bay. The hotel is 8 minutes' walk away from the Dragonara Casino and 300 m from St Julians bus terminal.
I would rate 0 if i could! Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my entire life! Rude staff, rooms are simply awful. Couldn’t eat the breakfast, had to go elsewhere. Mould in bathroom, small old towels, corroded tapware, no seal on door so light shined in my room all night, very uncomfortable bed. Room was too hot, air con didnt work, I asked reception if they could fix the air con, they said they didnt turn air con on till May. It was the end of April and my room was 29.5C at night! Despite me having the ‘do not disturb’ sign on my door, twice the cleaner came in! One of the times I had just got out of the shower and I was only in a towel! Only 1 power socket whole room! I wanted to leave but they wouldn’t let me cancel or refund. Totally not acceptable! I sent booking.com numerous messages to see if they would help. No help from booking.com! They told me to contact the hotel! The hotel said to contact booking.com The room described above was the second room I was allocated when I complained about the first room. The first room was bigger but in my view worse! They wouldnt even give me a partial refund because I moved from the original bigger room I booked to a smaller box room.
I stayed at Alexandra Hotel with my group of 60 people as a group travel organizer. The hotel has very good facilities. We really enjoyed the rooftop pool and had a lot of fun there with our group. The indoor pool, sauna, and gym were also very nice. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever seen in a hotel: very varied, fresh, and with many choices. About the management, unfortunately my experience was not good. The reception staff, including the manager, were often not friendly and I felt treated with indifference. I found the communication not very professional. But I want to say a special thank you to Olga. She was the only person who really helped us with respect, professionalism, and kindness. She did her best to help in every situation, and I am very grateful to her. The hotel should have more people like Olga at the reception. The rooms were good and clean, and the housekeeping team did a very good job. Compliments to them.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Honestly, you would be better off staying outside on the street — it is cleaner and quieter than this hotel. The room I was given through the booking looked nothing like the photos or the description in reality. For the first time in my life, I left my clothes inside the suitcase because I felt disgusted to put them in the wardrobes. I am not even going to talk about the bathroom — everything is extremely old and in very poor condition. The room interior is also very outdated, and everything feels worn out. There was barely any running water, making it impossible to shower properly. The most concerning part is that there is another locked door inside the room, and the safety feels very questionable because it seems like someone from the other side could open it and enter the room. It feels more like connected rooms inside a house rather than a proper hotel room. On top of that, you can clearly hear everything people say or do in the next room. Above all, I am extremely disappointed, especially considering that the price paid for almost two nights was not cheap at all. For this reason, I strongly advise people reading this review not to book this hotel and to stay as far away from it as possible.
This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The only reason I am not giving it the lowest possible rating is its good location. Apart from that, almost everything was at a shockingly poor standard.
The room advertised as “Deluxe” had absolutely nothing to do with a higher standard of accommodation. It was extremely dirty – and that is not an exaggeration. Surfaces were sticky, many fixtures and furnishings were damaged, worn out, or literally falling apart. The bathroom was in desperate need of a deep clean. Visible dirt, grime, and clear signs of neglect made it very unpleasant to use.
The air conditioning emitted a strong musty, moldy smell. One look at the ventilation grille was enough to suggest it had not been cleaned for years. Spending time in the room was uncomfortable, and the air quality was extremely poor.
The bathroom amenities were equally disappointing. There was no shampoo or shower gel provided, only a low-quality liquid soap dispenser. The mattresses were cheap, uncomfortable, and did not allow for a good night’s sleep.
The staff seemed completely uninterested in guests’ concerns. Complaints were either ignored or met with a lack of understanding, and the overall attitude of the staff could hardly be described as welcoming.
Another absurd policy concerns the pool towels. Guests receive only one towel for the entire stay, and replacing it comes at an additional charge. For a hotel claiming to offer a higher standard of service, this is simply unacceptable.
The breakfasts were among the worst I have ever experienced. In practice, the only reasonably safe options were sweet pastries and sugary products. Everything else appeared to be of very low quality, and after eating there we experienced stomach issues. After a few attempts, we stopped having breakfast at the hotel altogether.
I have extremely negative memories of this stay. Every day we tried to spend as much time as possible away from the hotel just to avoid being in the stuffy, neglected room. I strongly advise anyone looking for even basic standards of cleanliness, comfort, and customer service to avoid this hotel. For the same price, there are many better options available. I cannot recommend this property to anyone.
Location was very central but noisy at night. Staff were pleasant and plenty of variety for breakfast. Although the rooms were cleaned daily, the bathrooms could do with upgrading. Looking at the reviews I was a bit hesitant to stay, but it wasn't the worst place we've stayed. For 7 adults it was reasonably priced.
