This hotel is on a great location in Silemma , the rooms are really clean and spacious - towels and linen are fresh . It is walking distance to all areas and swimming spots in Silemma . There are lots of great choices of restaurants close by and especially the Asian restaurant down stairs . Staff at the hotel are super friendly and helpful . We went to the day pool Medasia and had the very best day , this is such a great spot to swim in the pool or the sea . Highly Recommend this hotel
We stayed in a 2 BR/2 BA apartment on the 5th floor, with a sea view. The apartment itself was very comfortable and it was so convenient to have a full-sized refrigerator and a washing machine. They also provided a large, collapsible drying rack for our clothes. The apartment is located close to many small mini marts, so we were able to pick up soap, paper towels and other items to make the stay more comfortable. We didn't realize we could have asked for a hair dryer so we ended up purchasing a cheap one to use. Instant coffee was provided, along with an electric teapot. However, there were so many cafes close by that if you wanted better coffee, you needed to just walk a block or two for that.
The staff at Pebbles were very friendly and accommodating. We were informed that they had their own beach club and pool (about a 12-minute walk away), but it was not something we were interested in so can't comment on that. We were traveling with my elderly mother, who walks with a cane and a few times we came back to the apartment, the lift was not working and had to walk all the way up the stairs to the 5th floor. This was a minor inconvenience, but they addressed it each time pretty quickly.
The view from the apartment was spectacular and a few nights sat on our balcony and watched fireworks from Valetta.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the only negative aspect about this property. As well-appointed as this location is, you cannot escape the constant music/noise from the bars and restaurants below us. The music didn't stop most nights until 2-3 a.m., even though there is supposed to be a noise ordinance. We did use earplugs and that helped. The main bedroom was definitely quieter, but the guest room is closer to the front and made for some restless nights.
I was aware that the noise may be an issue, but was told that the higher-floor apartments had less noise issues. Not really the case, but all the positive features outweighed this property for us. Each day, we crossed right at the traffic light in front of the hotel and walked a short way to the Valetta Ferry. After sightseeing all day, we would then head out again at night for dinner and dessert. We felt safe the entire time we were there and I even ventured out many times at night by myself without hesitation.
There are definitely quieter areas to stay in Sliema, but having my mother with us and not wanting to be farther away from the Ferry, this location ended up suiting us well and I would consider staying here again.
Sliema strand plays host to this ‘aparthotel’, a reasonable option in a locality packed with a range of accommodation providers. The location is favourable, only a short stroll from the Valletta ferry and Tigne point and there are a number of eateries/drinkeries in the vicinity as well as the broader locality of Gzira and Msida.
Rooms are fairly well appointed and quite modern, however, these tend to vary widely in terms of situation in the building and range of facilities provided. Some are en-suite rooms whereas others are suites with kitchenettes, some have balconies whereas others don’t. Rooms at the front of the building have sea views, those at the back have views of streets, cars and ubiquitous bags of refuse.
There’s a gym that has decent facilities and a business centre, each provided for the use of all guests. Other utilities include a communal seating area, luggage store and two separate elevators for each side of the building (front/back). Apart from the view the rooftop terrace is frankly nothing to write about, the seating areas are worn and weathered and the cold-water spa pool is uninviting.
WiFi is patchy throughout, TV has non-functional channels and A/C can literally be hot/cold but temperamental with it. Ambient hotel noise from water heaters and banging doors doesn’t add much to the overall vibe either. Walls are thin and neighbours tend to be noisy, after a while I lost count of how many times I was woken up by people outside shouting in the street and/or revving car engines.
Overall the building is scruffy but serviceable, to call it a ‘boutique’ anything is frankly a stretch of anyone’s imagination. It’s not great value for money neither is it anything special.
No breakfast or meal option(s) included in the rates. No plans to head back if and when I should ever return to Sliema, which I reckon might be a fair while if this experience is anything to go by.
First we were dropped off at the entrance to the bar , I asked our driver where we were going,he showed us the entrance, 41 steps up to the Reception. I am 73 years old, my wife is nearly blind, I had to carry both cases up myself. The apartment fine, but found some health and safety issues en route to apartment, we were talking to receptionist and it appears that the place is CLOSING for a major refurbishment on 7th Jan. Think before you try to book here!
Stayed here for 4 nights in double room with balcony for around £65 a night. Location in Sliema is very convenient. Entrance is not obvious, it’s a door and narrow stairway up to the reception, good thing I only had a backpack and small suitcase, otherwise elevator is in a bar/restaurant next door and I guess can only be accessed during their opening hours, so anyone with large suitcases or have difficulty with stairs should be aware.
All the staff I came across was friendly and helpful, room is clean and size is decent, my room was at the back and the balcony looked out to other residential buildings on a quiet street. Toilet is poorly built and needs attention and maintenance, see photos. If you need hairdryer, will have to go to the reception to pay a deposit. The staff mentioned a jacuzzi so I went to check it out, nice in theory but it doesn’t look clean at all so didn’t try it out.
Overall ok stay, nothing outstanding nothing outrageous.
