Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
GOOD THINGS Sea view rooms have incredible views and although the road below is busy, the balcony doors are pretty soundproof. Also they are kept very clean. Staff in the breakfast restaurant are just the best. A big shout out to Raju and Andrea who were particularly lovely. Plenty of choice for breakfast. The restaurant is integrated, on floor 1 of the hotel, but run by another company. The evening meals are lovely as well. The Living Room - free drinks (premium alcohol, soft drinks and hot drinks) available daily all day and free nibbles usually available in the evening - this was basically like an airport lounge and a lovely bonus. It's surprisingly quiet as well, there was never more than one other couple in there when we went in.
SLIGHT NIGGLES Hot water in the shower is an issue. On some mornings there was none at all, but most of the time it was available but you had to keep turning to heat up to achieve the same temperature (also bring your own shower cap if you use them). Also the room walls are quite thin (but I think this is a general issue with hotels).
All in all this is a lovely hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
We booked a luxury suite which had a separate(ish) lounge and a great view of Valletta from the balcony. It came with access to the “living room” which provided complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit all day plus drinks and canapés from 5-8 which we really enjoyed although the atmosphere was sorely lacking. Breakfast was great with good service. We were there for 2 nights and the room was not cleaned but we had a do not disturb sign on for several hours on the first day -I would have expected them to find time to ask if we wanted it cleaned though, though I guess we could have requested a clean. Reception was underwhelming although they did let us check out an hour late. The location was ideal for the ferries and local restaurants and shops. There was a large indoor swimming pool but no gym (a discounted. 5 euros per trip to the local gym .
This hotel was comfortable with large rooms and conveniently located. Breakfast was excellent with an expansive selection of options. Special shout out to Marleny who not only served us with a huge smile each day but was gracious to send breakfast food up to my room as well as ice when I strained my hamstring! She is the best!!
We had a sea view room on the eighth floor. It was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was exactly as you would expect with a very extensive buffet selection and eggs on order. The waiting staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room package (Lush?) gave us access to The Living Room (think airport lounge) which is an unusual concept for a hotel I think. Free drinks and fruit available all day was a nice touch though with spirits and cocktails available from 5. It was soulless, however, and with no sea view lacked any kind of ambiance. The pool on the eleventh floor was a great place to wind down after a day of sightseeing. The hotel's location is great being just by the Sliema ferry stop so it is easy to get into Valetta and over to Gozo.
I would stay here again.
We have just returned from a lovely break at the Lands End Hotel. On first impression it is very clean and the staff on reception were very friendly. I was slightly disappointed by the room size having booked a Distinct room (the pictures on the web site give the impression they are larger so the pictures must be widened). I was also surprised there wasn’t enough storage space to store clothes, we also requested extra hangers. It was definitely worth paying the extra for a room at the front of the hotel to get the views of Valletta and the sliding doors block out 90% of the noise outside. We were pleased with the mattress which was very comfortable and the pillows. In the room there was a decent coffee machine and kettle for refreshments replenished daily. We were told not to drink the tap water, and water machines were on floors 4,6 & 8 with water containers supplied in the fridge. In the evening there is a lovely area to have a pre-dinner drink on the terrace on level 1.
The bonus was also having an indoor pool on level 11, which we used every day and was very quiet with other guests and had lovely views of the harbour. My only comment for the pool would be to have a handrail by the steps for safety as it can get very slippery and is on a slight slope.
The disappointment was certainly the main restaurant Hammett’s Monastik, during our stay not many diners used this restaurant with such a large area for diners. We ate here one night and found the food ordered was not the best quality in my opinion as my Veal was very fatty, the fries and vegetables not great, it was very expensive for the quality. They need to learn from a restaurant we tried nearby called Tempt Asian at AX The Place Hotel where the meal was superb with the restaurant very full so book in advance.
The hotel is in a good location and Sliema was the right choice for ferries and buses, we used the car service Bolt several times and it was cheaper that the taxis. I was touched that the hotel gave me a bottle of wine to celebrate my birthday. Overall 4/5.
