If you're looking for a resort that gives you a little bit of everything you might possibly want from Malta, then Sliema is an excellent choice. Sliema is also well served with exceptional hotels, and the Kennedy Nova, like Sliema, gives you everything you might want from a top hotel in an excellent location.
You'll know as soon as you arrive that you made the right choice. The Kennedy Nova is well situated for one thing, right on the waterfront promenade. And it's a wonderfully stylish place to stay; the reception area sets the tone with its attractive furnishings and décor, and that sense of style is continued in the guest rooms.
All twin and double rooms have en suite facilities and are smartly (but very comfortably) decorated. It's just the sort of room you want to see when you arrive tired after travelling. Sea view rooms are available for a supplement, but you'll find the same great range of facilities in all rooms, including TV, direct dial phone, minibar and hairdryer. Safe deposit boxes and tea/coffee making facilities are also available for a small charge, on request.
During your stay, be sure to make use of the seasonal rooftop swimming pool as it's an excellent suntrap and provides a wide vantage point out over Sliema and the Marsamxett Harbour.
With so much of Malta to see – and so much of it accessible from Sliema, you'll be heading out and about to the capital Valetta, perhaps even some of St Julian's nightspots, and don't forget to explore Sliema itself. Take a walk along the promenade and try one of its many outstanding eating places. And do make sure you check out your very own Kennedy Nova Hotel restaurant too – it's well worth a look.
With a great location, great facilities and a whole host of great reasons to choose it, the Kennedy Nova Hotel is a perfect choice. Make it your holiday home when you visit Malta.
A hotel that projects both comfort and style, the Kennedy Nova has an ideal location on Sliema's waterfront promenade, overlooking Sliema Creek and Marsamxett Harbour.
The hotel has a reputation for good service and high class cuisine and is convenient for the shops and places of entertainment in Sliema, buses connecting with nearby Valletta and the nightspots of St Julian's stop opposite.
I was nervous at first after reading the reviews, but it was a lovely hotel. It is not the 4 Seasons or the Hilton, but for a solo traveler, it provided what I needed. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was HOT. The breakfast was good, but it was the same every morning. I did not eat at the restaurant at night. The staff was helpful and kind. I was upgraded to a room with a seaview. The view was incredible, and it was nice waking up to the sunrise coming over Valletta. It made up for the loud disco music that played all day until 11pm from the club across the street. However, at 11pm, it stopped immediately, and the street was quiet. I could sleep soundly until the next morning. The hotel was centrally located, and the bus stop was across the street. There are shops and restaurants up and down the street. Very convenient. Overall, it was worth the money.
The hotel is on the Sliema seafront. Parking in the area is very limited so arrive by bus or taxi. Check in was easy. The receptionist on 2nd May in the evening was polite and friendly. The room was quite small, no balcony. The air conditioner wasn't working. It was set to 16c and high speed but it wasn't blowing cold air. There wasn't coffee, tea or bottle water. This is something I'd expect in a 4 star hotel. The bathroom was clean, the shower head fixed and quite low down. I'm not particularly tall but had to stoop to get under it. There was a lot of noise at night from other guests. The hotel staff did deal with it. Breakfast wasn't great. Almost everything that's supposed to be hot wasn't. The coffee was ok. The hotel is ok but I can't really recommend it. There are better options in Malta for the same money
I stayed at the Hotel Kennedy Nova and, unfortunately, I must strongly advise against it. Despite a few positive aspects, the critical issues were too many and ruined the experience.
🍽️ Food and Breakfast The food quality was disappointing. The menu was monotonous; they cooked the exact same things every day. The roasted potatoes were often raw, poorly seasoned, and tasteless; a disaster. The only saviors at lunch/dinner were the cutlets, cordon bleus, and, on one single occasion, sausages and hamburgers. Paradoxically, the desserts (cheesecakes and tarts) were very good. The breakfast, however, was the only meal that was good.
🛏️ Room and Cleanliness Here the problems are severe.
Smells: The rooms smelled terribly. The problem was so bad that we had to keep the balcony open continuously. When the cleaning staff mopped the floors, the water used emitted a foul odor of feet/sweat. Bedding: The room was not equipped with proper bedsheets, only a small one. If you felt cold, you had to get a blanket from the wardrobe (provided by the hotel) and place it over the small sheet. Water: Upon arrival, the tap water was yellow. Fortunately, it was fixed within a few hours, but the initial impact was unpleasant. Room View: Our room overlooked a smoking area, making the environment unbearable. Furthermore, at night we were woken up by the constant chirping of birds on a tree right under our balcony. 👥 Staff and Management Most of the staff is kind and helpful, but there were serious exceptions:
A cleaning lady told us "I have no time" when we had just returned and wanted just a moment of relaxation, ignoring that we were about to go out. The noise management is absurd: in the vending machine area, a staff member spent time scolding people by yelling "SHHHH," even when no one was making any noise. Ironically, their yelling echoed more than the noise made by guests. They did this even during dinner, creating more disturbance than they were preventing. 📍 Pros (the only ones) The hotel is close to the waterfront, Sliema, a McDonald's, and various supermarkets. If you only need a bed in a convenient area, it might suffice, but nothing more.
Conclusion Despite the proximity to services, the partially kind staff, and the provision of blankets in the wardrobe, the hygiene standards, food quality (outside of desserts), and staff management make this hotel unsuitable. The value for money does not justify the living conditions we faced. I strongly advise against staying here.
The staff were amazing & could not have been more friendly & helpful. We paid for a superior room & the harbour view was stunning!! Central location with easy access to harbour cruises & hop on bus. Tasty breakfast. Thank you for making our stay so pleasurable 👏👏👏
The hotel was horrible. We had a terrible experience; it was dirty, and there were cockroaches in the smoking area. The food wasn't good, and we sometimes felt sick. The air conditioning didn't work and it smelled bad. The refrigerator didn't work. The rooms were extremely dirty, and the staff was truly rude.
