This impressive, boutique hotel is a carefully restored 200-year old palazzo, perfectly located in central Sliema, Malta's most fashionable town, and close to all useful services and facilities including restaurants, open-air cafes and shops. Moreover, Sliema's main bus station and ferry port, including the ferry to Valletta, are located a stone's throw away. Although a small property with just 5 elegant and beautifully appointed suites, this up-scale hotel has a lot to offer to all kind of visitors. Those guests staying can make good use of all the facilities at the adjoining hotels. Services and facilities include an outside and inside swimming pool, fitness room and spa, as well as meeting and conference venues. Due to the Palazzo being a historical building, there is no lift access to the suites. Kindly note that breakfast and all other facilities can be accessed from our sister hotel, AX The Victoria Hotel, located next door
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Thanks to manager Neil Cauchi, managed to organise a buffet lunch for around 50 people in a short period of time. He was very kind and efficient, the venue, food and service were excellent. My family was impressed. They even catered for our celiac and vegetarian members. I highly recommend especially for group events.
This was a very special occasion for my wife and I. We were given an upgrade to the excellent Tagliaferro Suite in AX Palazzo Capua. The room was beautifully laid out and the service from the Hotel staff was superb. Such a welcoming team of staff and managers.
The facilities for this 5 star hotel were outstanding. Both with indoor and outdoor pools, a modern fitness room and hotel spa treatments, we were able to enjoy and relax and take romantic strolls on the beautiful beaches of Malta.
A special mention for the excellent catering staff and cooks at the Tabloid Restaurant. The meals were also superb. I felt obliged to give my personal compliments to the head chef and the pastry chef for their excellent work in creating something special each night.
My wife and I, would recommend this hotel to all who plan to visit Malta and just want to to experience something special.
With very fond memories Mr and Mrs Taylor
Pre the pandemic we tried to visit Malta once a year for a week break. We have always stayed in the Ax hotel complex. We have settled on the Palazzo Capua for the last several stays because it gives us the comfort of a small hotel, there are only about 6 huge comfortable rooms with all the facilities of the larger AX hotels next door. What makes the Ax hotels is not the facilities or the restaurants or the rooms or even the great location (all of which are excellent) it is the staff and there are not enough nice things that you can say about them. If you want to be somewhere that is friendly and helpful and that you will feel cared for.. The Victoria or the Palace or the Palazzo depending on your style preferences and budget are an excellent choice. One we will be choosing again once we can get a flight.
We celebrated our close family and friends wedding in this beautiful Palazzo in the middle of Sliema. The atmosphere within the palace and its beautiful surrounding balconies was magnificent! It was certainly the place for memorable pictures and special memories! Neil and the team were fantastic, they were very professional, helpful and friendly. All our guests were impressed. The suites there are also to be recommended - some of our foreign guests stayed at AX The Victoria - we will surely return.......hopefully soon!

Although our booking was originally for the Victoria Hotel, we were given a room in Palazzo Capua due to overbooking. They claimed that this room was better but I consider it a downgrade. First of all it was very cold & it took hours to get some kind of heat through an old air condition. We had to call the reception of Victoria Hotel 2-3 times to come and fix the problem with the heating. They came after a long time... Since there is no reception in the building, we had to get out on the street and go to the Victoria Hotel every time we needed something e.g. electricity adaptors... The suite that was given to us had absolutely no view. It was dark and felt like a basement. Fortunately we spent only one night there and the next morning we asked to be moved to Victoria Hotel... What a relief!
