The service makes it 5 star.

Excellent Service. Just got back after 10 days at the 1926 with my family (which includes two daughters in their 20's) and we had a wonderful time. My wife and daughters all had a few treaments at the spa, which they loved. But the biggest positive of this trip was the service. There are loads of staff always willing to help, most noteable Enzo at the Beach club plus Sohel and Min Kumas at the main hotel. We where B&B (coffee is fab) but we also eat at all the restraunts and they are all good value icluding.

Family holiday

We spent 10 days at 1926 La Solei for our family holiday and we had a splendid time. I’ll get the basics out of the way first: clean rooms, big showers, a nice gym, free spa access that was also very clean. I had two spa treatments when I was there and they were both great and I felt very relaxed after them. We all frequented the beach bar several times on this occasion and it had some of the best sun loungers, especially on the top deck with a shade to cover your face if you wanted to. Access to the pool and sea was a great option. The food at the beach club was top notch, as were the drinks. You could easily share a burger for two if you wanted a light lunch or there are so many seafood and sushi options. Huge shout out to Enzo! Thanks for making our experience at the beach club so great. It was a pleasure for you to be our host 😊 also a big thanks to the other staff members - you were great. The rooftop pool at the hotel was one you needed to book via the app and we spent a couple of afternoons there. The gazebos didn’t get much wind and we got too hot sitting there. We preferred the loungers by the pool. My main point of negative feedback about this area was the pool needed a bit of TLC - tiles were falling off the sides and some of the paint was peeling off the bottom of the pool. It’s more of a dip in pool rather than a swimming pool. We also ate on the rooftop and the food and service was great. We spent most evenings having a pre-dinner cocktail at the hotel bar and the cocktails were delicious! There’s a happy hour 4-7pm every day on classic cocktails but I also tried some of the other cocktails including the Melon Mist which was delicious. The rum of eden was my sister’s favourite. Another huge shoutout to Min Kumar for making delicious drinks and serving us with five star quality. Thank you! We also visited both the Michelin restaurant on the rooftop of the hotel and Margaux which is next to the hotel bar. Both were amazing. I’ll likely do individual reviews of both. Le ge vie was a value for money Michelin experience. Great service, fantastic wine, and the food was stellar. Thank you to all the staff for making our experience there a brilliant one. (This was our most expensive meal of the trip so I wouldn’t recommend if you’re on a tight budget). The food at Margaux have generous portions on both the starters and mains. So if you’re not a huge eater, consider sharing some dishes. Thank you to Sohel for looking after us and also bringing poached eggs to my dad in the morning at breakfast. I have truly got the rest and recovery I was looking for from this trip. Excellent hospitality, service, food & drinks. If you want a top-notch experience in Malta, this is the hotel for you. Thanks again 💚

Definitely not worth the price

Unfortunately, this hotel was nowhere near the standard we expected.v

The biggest issue for me was the pool situation. One of the main pools requires a reservation and was fully booked, so we couldn’t use it at all during our stay. The other pool is a few minutes away from the hotel, extremely crowded and closes around 5:30 PM. For a hotel advertising multiple pools, especially during peak summer season, this was ridiculous.

The room also felt very cheap compared to what we paid and there were basic maintenance and cleanliness issues that shouldn’t exist at this price point.

Food was average at best and breakfast became repetitive very quickly. Reception wasn’t particularly helpful either when we had questions or concerns.

Overall, the hotel looks much better online than the experience you actually get. For the amount of money charged, there are much better options in Malta.

Wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend.

TripAdvisor Review
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

I paid around €2,000 for a 7-night stay in a Deluxe Room, specifically because this hotel advertises its facilities, including three swimming pools. I was also looking forward to enjoying the hotel, relaxing by the pool and creating some Instagram content during both the day and evening.

Unfortunately, the reality was completely different from what I expected based on the hotel’s official website.

One of the main pools is only open from 9 AM until 6 PM and requires a reservation. Nowhere on the official website did I see this clearly explained before booking. During my entire 7-night stay, I was unable to spend even ONE DAY at this pool because it was fully booked every single time.

The other pool is approximately a 4-minute walk away from the hotel. It does not require a reservation, but it was extremely overcrowded, uses salt water directly from the sea, opens at 9:30 AM and closes at only 5:30 PM. In the middle of summer and during peak season, I find these opening hours ridiculous for a hotel that promotes its pool facilities as part of the experience.

If you are going to accept this many guests during peak season, then the facilities should be able to accommodate them. Guests should not pay premium prices for advertised facilities they cannot actually use.

The room was another huge disappointment. For a Deluxe Room at this price point, the quality felt incredibly cheap. The bathroom sink was completely blocked and the water would not drain. I actually had to open it underneath myself and remove a large amount of hair that had been left inside. Absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable for any hotel, never mind one charging these prices.

The toilet barely flushed properly and often required several attempts.

The food was equally disappointing. Breakfast was repetitive every morning, with practically the same selection every day. Even something as basic as the cucumbers tasted bitter. At dinner, I ordered a salad with a dressing that tasted so unpleasant I could barely eat it. This is especially disappointing considering how highly the hotel promotes its dining experience.

The reception staff were also extremely unhelpful. Whenever I raised an issue or needed assistance, I felt as though nobody was genuinely interested in helping or finding a solution.

Overall, this has been one of the worst hotel experiences I have had, especially considering the amount of money I paid.

I absolutely would NOT recommend this hotel, particularly to younger travellers, couples, content creators or influencers expecting a beautiful hotel experience where they can enjoy the facilities and create content. The reality is very different from the impression given online.

Beautiful marketing means very little when paying guests cannot even access the facilities being advertised.

For €2,000, I expected quality, cleanliness, good service and reasonable access to the facilities I paid for. Unfortunately, I received none of those things.

I would not stay here again and I cannot recommend it.

Fantastic hotel with great hospitality

This is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. The place is spotless and the service was top-notch. All the staff had a great balance between checking if we had everything we need and not being overbearing. The breakfast was good quality with a good variety of food and drinks. The bar has a nice range of cocktails - and they were very well made. La Terrasse - the roof top pool and sun loungers was a great experience too - but we preferred the experience at La Plage. We loved the theme of this hotel and it's sibling hotels - paying homage to their founder Sunny Borg. We especially wanted to give a mention to Ben Myburgh - thank you and your excellent team very much for your amazing hospitality!
