Solana Hotel and Spa

I stayed here for several nights and overall I had a fairly pleasant stay. The hotel is in a prime location with plenty of decent restaurants and bakeries nearby. I would also recommend using Bolt or Uber when travelling between the different villages and towns as the public taxis can be substantially more expensive.

My room was a standard double without a view. The check in experience was fairly standard although the receptionist did not really have any recommendations for food in the area. This would have been helpful as it is always nice to get a few local recommendations when arriving at a hotel.

The room itself was a good standard and looked fairly modern. The only exceptions were the safe and some of the wall fixtures for charging which felt a little dated.

One thing I did appreciate was the variety of charging options. There were USB-A as well as EU and UK sockets by the beds. The room also had a fridge and bottled water was provided which was a nice touch.

As I was staying for several nights I expected towels and cups to be replaced as part of the housekeeping service. Unfortunately I found that towels would sometimes be taken away without being replaced which was a little inconvenient.

Breakfast was included in our package and there was a good range of food available. However the service seemed to be lacking. Tables were not cleared regularly so towards the end of breakfast you could see piles of used plates cups and food left behind.

I also felt that the hot drinks could be improved. Everything seemed to come from the coffee machines which created queues. Having staff serve coffee and tea would make the experience feel a little more polished and would also help reduce the queues around the machines.

The same applies to the fruit juice. The juices were from machines and tasted like concentrates rather than fresh juice. For a 4 star hotel I would have expected slightly better options.

The pool itself was good although the music was a bit of an issue. I was told that there was a happy hour and this was apparently signalled by a sudden change to very loud EDM music. At one point the music actually woke me up. A number of guests seemed to have no idea what was happening until someone said out loud that it was happy hour and the drinks were reduced. It would have been much better to simply advertise the happy hour rather than relying on loud music and unusual remixes to signal it.

Overall the hotel has a lot going for it. The location is excellent and the rooms are comfortable and modern for the most part. There are just a few areas where I feel the service and overall experience could be improved to better match what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

The hotel is a lovely place to stay, provides lovely dining options with themed food nights An Amazing rooftop bar with a good amount of sunbeds and two lovely pools, There is a spa downstairs in the basement with a lovely heated indoor pool with sauna and a Jaccuzzi which could be used but had to pay 15 euros and book it which I thought was a negative, The location is good short walk appx 20 mins to the beach and a bus stop near the hotel so you can explore the island with a cost of about 3-3.50 euros also some lovely eateries nearby and some shops and bars, all good so far....

So a bit of advice and this did put a dampener on the holiday slightly... If you book an INTERNAL ROOM just beware as we did not knowing what to expect, The first room was on the lower floor opened the room door and could only describe as claustrophobic and prison cell like with a very small window at top where wall meets ceiling no natural daylight, we asked to be moved and the second room on another floor was just as small no natural daylight with a small sliding frosted window, i have stayed in internal rooms before but not like this and i booked through an Agent and there is not a true representation on the website of the hotel displaying these rooms... very naughty and misleading I feel, so just be mindful of this when booking so we eventually got an upgrade which we enquired about at check in originally and with some persuasion we got a SUPERIOR ROOM £ 250 extra and it came with a balcony, so with the room sorted after few hours we thought the stay would be pleasant, and it was a pretty good stay, Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss, the last 2 nights the room above us were noisy into the early hours chatter and dragging furniture around I did complain at reception on the 2nd night and they said they would send security to the location, sadly the final night was the same and with a 4am departure I did my best to try and sleep.

so the hotel Has some lovely points but also could do better in some places, so for me I will rate As a 3.5 star, If I had known about the room situation it probably would have been a better stay, staff friendly enough so i would say its a lovely place to stay just be aware of the ROOMS sadly I didn't get a chance to photograph the two rooms as i was getting stressed with the situation and it slipped my mind

The Solana Hotel itself is a lovely hotel, spacious with lots of seating areas, plenty of sunbeds by the pool and there is a good selection at breakfast. The only thing that lets it down is the inane incessant music which I presume is supposed to be background music unfortunately it is anything but background music, it is played throughout the whole hotel including the pool area. We did mention it a couple of times the girl at reception that we spoke to tried to get it turned down but to no avail. We did ask about a quiet pool which is down on the bottom floor next to the Spa again unfortunately there is no Sun at all it is completely in the shade which defeats the purpose for us as we like the Sun. We would have stayed in the hotel to eat and drink but because of the constant dreadful noise we ate and drank out. They didn’t have a quiet area anywhere. Unfortunately for us this was not a relaxing experience for us.
