We enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful young man who looked after us with the room. There were some things to attend to and problems to solve and he did his best. Thank you very much indeed, Hridoy Hossain. Friendly and professional.
The hotel looks very nice right from the entrance. The air conditioning works perfectly throughout the building; however, the restaurant serving breakfast and dinner was far too cold—it was impossible to sit there for long in light clothing. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful, though it felt like there were too many issues for a one-week stay at that price point. Dominika at Reception helped us a lot with Everything we wanted to know. Our shower leaked, flooding half the bathroom while we washed; the problem was addressed from Wednesday through Sunday by several different people who, due to a lack of communication, failed to actually fix the leak. I find it unacceptable for a vacationing guest to have to report daily whether it was leaking, had stopped, or was still leaking, all while someone occupied the bathroom—making it unusable—to work on it. One day we even found a cockroach in the bathroom and had to report it at reception... ultimately, aside from apologies, we received no compensation for any of these incidents. We were most impressed by the high quality of the room cleaning—a huge thank you to Mr. Kasi; Hotels need more dedicated employees like him. The food in the restaurant was delicious, with themed dinners every day; the only exception was Sunday—the "chef's creative day"—which was quite poor. It felt as though Saturday's leftovers had simply been mixed, re-seasoned, and served as new dishes. On days when birthdays were celebrated or a VIP was visiting, the buffet seemed more lavish and elaborately decorated, with staff constantly tending to the setup; this created a strange contrast—one day such opulence, and the next, what looked like leftovers garnished with grapes (which they started clearing away at 8:00 PM, even though dinner ran until 9:30 PM). And here big thank you to Dawa - weiter with Passion for his work. The pools are indeed too small for the number of guests—as is the number of sun loungers—but considering the surrounding area and other hotels, it is truly impossible to provide enough space to satisfy everyone. However, I find it excessive for the staff to usher guests out of the pool at 7:50 PM when it is open until 8:00 PM. It was disappointing that, despite the restaurant advertising gluten-free options, these were clearly intended only for adults with intolerances or allergies; there was almost nothing suitable for a child with celiac disease. It is disheartening when one child gets to eat nuggets or fish fingers while the child with the condition has to settle for plain rice or french fries, as the heavily spiced dishes aimed at adults are unsuitable for a child. Despite the noise outside Room, the balcony doors were very soundproof, so we weren't bothered by anything—not even the activity in the room above us. Hotel on photos look better than in reality; the room wasn't bad, but many things in it needed replacing. I was put off using the cutting board provided because it looked dirty and yellowed. The fridge didn't cool well, and the freezer—besides being tiny—didn't freeze anything at all.
The location is a little further from the centre of Malta but the quality of the hotel makes up for it. Conveniences are also plenty. There are about 4-5 convenience stores and supermarkets within 2 minutes walking distance. The beach is reachable through about a 30-40 minute walk but it may be difficult in the heat, and it's steep downhill going and uphill returning.
Friendly staff all throughout. Ijaz and Ven looked after me at the desk and were very helpful. The room cleaner was polite and courteous, and the bar staff too.
The rooms are beautiful. No great views out the balcony, just more balconies, but that's to be expected in a crowded place like Malta. Though the balcony itself was very spacious and useful for drying clothes. The air conditioning was great and very essential. Bathroom was very spacious and dual shower which was nice.
I got the inclusive breakfast and dinner option and I'm very glad I did. The food was surprisingly very good for buffet style. So many options and a theme each night which kept it fresh and interesting. Inclusive also means unlimited beer and wine which you can pour through the taps so needless to say you get your money's worth with the inclusive package.
The rooftop pool area is good, but nothing to write home about. Two pools, one for adults only, and a bar with a server who will bring to you.
The reception is very well decorated, inviting, huge and welcoming and there is a café/bar there. It also adjoins its partner Italian restaurant Tosca which has amazing desserts, huge portions and one of the nicest pasta meals I've ever tasted (tagliatelle ragu).
Value was good I would say. It's reasonably mid-priced and I found it to be the most appealing hotel in its price range, and I spent days researching hotels in the area. I wasn't disappointed at all in what I received relative to what I paid.
Cleanliness I can't really fault. It's not five star cleanliness in the sense you can tell there are parts of the walls less scrubbed or parts of the room the cleaners don't get to, areas hidden that can't be easily swept, but it's the kind of thing that would turn a 15 minute job into a 2-3 hour job so you have to make allowances for the size of the hotel and the price range.
Regarding noise and general peace, there was only one night of my seven I could hear any significant noise. It sounded like the staff moving furniture around on the floor above. But I never heard a peep from any of the other rooms so the walls aren't paper thin. I played a lot of music in my room and never heard complaints either. The walls seemed thick and the door certainly was.
Other things of note: -No irons in the rooms, but there is a dedicated ironing room with hardwired high quality irons and boards and water. -The key cards can be quirky. Mine only worked on the second attempt, as if the first swipe wasn't enough to fully unlock the door. -WiFi is free, and it's good enough to use, but like most hotel it's quite slow. Though it was enough to sync up my phone with the Smart TV and watch Netflix or play Spotify.
Beautiful swimming pool and views. Great service by Hem Raj !
