We stayed at this hotel for 9 days(8 nights) and for the money we paid we couldnt be happier. Very great deal. From the arrival the personel was very kind and pleasant and it didnt change throughout the whole stay. Hotel is very well located, not so far from the beach and there is a bus stop right in front of it so that is a big plus. Rooms were very nice, cleaned everyday if you wanted to, lots of storage space and a fridge was a big plus. The AC was a bit loud but you get used to it. The food was absolutely delicious and i loved that every night there was a different theme. Also there is a room service avalaible. The pools, the topdeck and other facilities are clean and very relaxing. Overall a very great stay, would 100% recommend, maybe even come back. When planning a trip to Mellieħa, Malta, we emailed ahead to Solana Hotel & Spa to see if they could accommodate our severe allergy needs—requesting a room free of down or feather-filled pillows, cushions, and duvets, while advising them of our severe nut and gluten allergies. We also asked to confirm our room had a kitchenette and mini-fridge for safe food storage, and if it would be possible to freeze our freezer blocks so we could keep our self-made lunches cold while out and about exploring in the heat. Hoped for the best, we packed our safe snacks and packs of rice, fully expecting to buy other basic bits from the local supermarket to manage. They promptly replied, confirming the room setup and assuring us breakfast could be catered for. We hoped for a manageable trip, but we never expected what followed: not only is this 4-star hotel one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in, but it is by far the most caring, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We were blown away by the unmatched diligence and high standard of care, making us feel completely and utterly safe for the entire stay. Red Carpet VIP Arrival Personal Management Welcome: Upon arrival, the hotel manager personally greeted us and explained that check-in was running slightly late because housekeeping was still deep-cleaning our room to ensure it was completely sterile. Brand-New Appliances: To eliminate any chance of gluten cross-contamination from day one, management provided a brand-new, unused toaster exclusively for our room. Full Facilities Briefing: The manager took the time to personally walk us through the entire hotel, detailing the spa facilities, restaurant setups, and safety procedures before we even settled in. Unmatched Dining & Kitchen Safety Proactive Safety & Care: This was the very first time we've experienced chefs and catering staff voluntarily voicing their own concerns about keeping us safe and proactively taking measures to eliminate cross-contamination risks. Invasive Service Without the Wait: Despite the extra safety precautions, we never had to wait ridiculously long for our meals. We felt completely included and were treated with the exact same dignity, warmth, and speed as all other guests across the hotel's restaurants and cafes. Executive Oversight: Hotel management, dining managers, and head chefs proactively checked in at our table throughout every meal, taking personal ownership of our safety and serving freshly prepared, tailor-made dishes directly to us. Equal Eats Card Integration: The kitchen team enthusiastically accepted our Equal Eats card, keeping it directly at the cooking station. Watching the chefs visibly cross-reference every single ingredient against the card in real-time offered complete peace of mind. Flawless Buffet Protocols: Menu boards are clearly labeled throughout. While the initial buffet setup is completely safe, the chefs went above and beyond if we arrived later: a chef would personally walk us through the spread to point out safe options. Made-to-Order Custom Meals: To eliminate cross-contamination risks, the chefs happily cooked bespoke meals from scratch—even items not on the buffet, including safe nut-free and gluten-free pancakes, omelettes, muffins, and desserts. A la Carte Excellence: Both Bellini and Tosca restaurants feature crystal-clear menu labeling, with staff who are deeply knowledgeable about allergen protocols and eager to adjust any dish. Flawless Handovers: Communication between shifts, kitchen staff, and restaurant management was completely airtight, meaning we never had to re-explain our dietary needs. Thoughtful Luxury & Tailored Room Service Dedicated Housekeeping: A single, dedicated maid cleaned our room daily using allergy-friendly products, honoring all our feather/down-free requests to ensure a pristine, irritant-free environment. Above-and-Beyond Excursion Support: As arranged, the team froze our freezer blocks overnight so we could safely pack chilled, allergy-safe lunches using our kitchenette and mini-fridge for long days exploring Malta. Local Shopping Peace of Mind: Adding to the ease, the local supermarket and nearby convenience stores in Mellieħa are exceptionally well-stocked with trusted global allergy brands (like Schär for breads and snacks) alongside dedicated local Maltese free-from ranges—making it effortless to stock up on safe cold meats, cheeses, breads, and extra snacks for our room. Pristine Spa & Amenities: Impeccably clean facilities and pools. Incredibly attentive service made the hotel and spa a genuinely relaxing retreat. Solana Hotel & Spa has completely redefined what a vacation looks like for severe allergy sufferers.
