Calypso Hotel

This is the 3rd time back at this hotel & thought I would treat my grandson to come with me 8th September for a week. last stay here 2022 I think I know this hotel fairly well so this is not me just picking holes (well I thought I did) & what a shock I had. Hotel wasn't very clean Breakfast was terrible so we went out else where for breakfast Dinner wasn't much better so did the same for that. The lounge bar shut at 21:45 twice & 22:15 on another night & ask to leave as we were the only two up there but should of stayed open until 23:00 Cleanness of our room was adequate at best. The room next to ours, the person showed us the curtains that had holes in them were held together by pins Would I ever consider going back here again!! NO!!!! But to finish on a good note the staff were very nice & helpful

We booked our stay at the calypso as a last min honeymoon mini break and can honestly say we couldn't fault it one bit. Arrival at the hotel was spotlessly clean, staff were very welcoming and helpful. We stayed in room 309 and was a suite, we were greeted by a fresh fruit platter and wine, bathrobes and slippers, the suite itself was spotless not a thing I could complain about. Rooms cleaned daily and bed, towels changed when we requested. Pool top terrace was also spotless, spacious and the views were beautiful, peaceful and very relaxing, pool was cold so never went in but for october I wasn't surprised. Breakfast from 7 till 10 plenty selection of fresh fruits, cereals and got foods. We only had breakfast at the hotel once as we were always out and about doing our own thing, can't comment on dinner as we always went out. Definitely great value for what we paid, and surrounding bars, restaurants, shops we thought was also very cheap. After reading previous reviews I was a little apprehensive but honestly we could not fault this place. For a busy little town and also some construction works going on there was no noise disruption we had a very relaxing stay, atmosphere was very chilled was exactly what we both needed. Location was great, also a bus stop literally 2mins from hotel which tool is to Victoria for the day. We also had a taxi app called Bolt which we used and the fares were dirt cheap. It's an amazing place for a get away to relax and chill, defo recommend hotel calypso. I'd defo recommend the boat trip to the blue lagoon, was the highlight of our stay.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a small group tour. Our room was at the back so we had a view of a building site, but the hotel front rooms overlook the harbour area. Our room was a good size. The bed didn’t suit my back, and I know others in the group had similar issues. There was plenty of storage in the bedroom and also plenty of places to put toiletries in the bathroom. There was a kettle and fridge which were great, a well as a table and two semi-comfortable chairs. The bathroom was clean if a bit dated, although it had my preferred shower over bath arrangement which more modern rooms often don’t! One big issue for a modern traveller was the lack of sockets! The whole room had one double socket that we could find (although there must have also been something behind the fridge cupboard), which was one British and one European socket. Well the kettle was in the British one… there was nothing at all near the bed which is very frustrating in these days of phone for everyone! I gather everyone in the group had the same problem. Breakfast was a good mix of hot and cold foods including some fruit, British cooked breakfast items, ham, cheese, yogurt, bread and pastries. The cinnamon pastries on the first morning were particularly good, as were the croissants. There were soya and almond milks as well as whole cows’ milk. A nice place to stay, if slightly in need of refurbishment.
