Golden Sun Resort is a new accomodation with twenty luxury rooms for adults only. Sixteen luxury rooms with private pool and four high floor rooms with private hot tub are available to make guest's stay unforgettable. The rooms can accommodate up to two adults. Rooms have Double bed, Mini bar with extra charge, Air Condition, hairdryer, iron, safe, satellite TV & 12 hours room service. Pool Bar Restaurant is open from early morning till night next to the Swimming Pool and the hot tub is also another place to relax. The Main restaurant is the place where everyone can enjoy Breakfast and Dinner with many choices from the ala carte menu. Three Star Hotel At Best
I spent a couple of weeks at this hotel and whilst far from a terrible experience it certainly is not a four star hotel as advertised by the likes of Jet2 and other holiday companies.
I just want to mention the reception staff, the staff working behind the bar and the staff welcoming you into the restaurant were all lovely and a huge credit to them.
This can also be said for house keeping and those keeping the hotel clean throughout the day.
Now I will move onto some of the negatives…
Whilst a small detail the wifi here is shockingly poor and in one building where my room was located, it didn’t work at all. When I raised this with reception I was told that it’s a known issue with it dropping out and happens frequently. Well if that is the case why not fix it?
You can’t drink the tap water here so why not provide at minimum, a bottle or two beside the bathroom sink ? I have stayed in a fair few hotels that at least provide a bottle of water ?!
As others have mentioned the pool is freezing and the atmosphere around the pool is dire. A mix of music or some form of entertainment wouldn’t go amiss ?
The soft drinks are either watered down or flat. The alcohol is of poor quality and the spirits tasted watered down most of the time.
The restaurant is small and you can only sit inside. There is not much variations and after a week it would certainly get repetitive. Breakfast is hash browns, sausages bacon or egg with some salad thrown in for good measure. Oh some cereal and strawberry yoghurt too.
Planes take off or land but this is not bothersome and you get used to this fairly quickly. For those aviation geeks this is probably a nice novelty.
Overall it’s a nice enough hotel. The hotel is a short walk from the beach, fifteen minutes from the airport and a short walk to Kalamaki or forty minutes to the Laganas main strip.
Obviously some people have raved about this place and each to their own but I would not be returning in to much of a hurry.
It certainly would be worthwhile checking out other options prior to booking.

A great hotel
Such a lovely clean hotel. Idea location and very close to the beach, and easy walking distance to the main bars, restaurants and shops. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Quality of food was spot on, and plenty of choice at each meal times. Drinks choice was good and the pool side bar was well equipped too. Lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers. Will definitely be returning!

All in all a lovely week
Just back from a relaxing holiday here. What we liked:- Our room was quite basic, but the bed was comfy and the shower was great. Best of all, our room & balcony faced onto the beautiful gardens where we caught the afternoon sun & sunset. We also loved that the beach is just a few minutes walk away. The food was good - I especially loved the breakfasts with lots of healthy options, and Greek salads at lunch. There was something for everyone at dinner time. The pool area was great with plenty sunloungers, towels available at reception, and a grassy area away from the music. Bring your water bottles as you can fill up at the refill stations. Walking 15/20 minutes takes you to The Strip - a street of pubs, restaurants and shops. We experienced 2 thunderstorms and torrential rain and found the bar area wasn’t really big enough to accommodate all guests.
What we weren’t keen on:- We didn’t like the wine served as part of all inclusive but the mythos beer was good. We would love to have had more Greek food specialties available. More storage around the sink in the bedroom would be good and maybe a chair in the corner.
Things to do:- walk the beach to Laganas - lots of beach bars along there. Take a boat trip to see the turtles (although there is a fisherman in Laganas harbour who attracts them to his boat - you can see them for free!) Take the bus into Zakynthos Town and walk the pedestrian street of shops. We ate a fab seafood meal on the harbour front (Spartikus). There’s a beach club just down from the hotel - 10 euros for 2 loungers & umbrella for the day, with a restaurant. ‘Delight’ is just up the road - nice pub where they do Greek dancing etc. ‘Zorbas’ taverna on the strip for a tasty meal & entertainment! The beach at Kalamaki is a breeding area for the turtles so it was cordoned off with only a walk along the waters edge available but there are areas for sunbathing too.

A Lovely Hotel – Highly Recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had a wonderful stay at Gold Sun Kalamaki Hotel as a couple. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, and we really enjoyed our time here. Everything made our holiday enjoyable and relaxing, and we felt comfortable during our stay.
One of the best things about the hotel is its great location, just a short walk from the beach. It is perfect for enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Kalamaki and relaxing by the sea.
Thank you for a lovely experience! We would love to come back again. ❤️ Highly recommended!
Great time
Golden Sun Hotel room 705. Forth time to Kalamaki first time to this hotel, we made a good choice, we were well pleased.
The room was clean and a good size, good walk in shower, comfy bed + a kettle. Good garden view which was well maintained.
The restaurant was buffet style huge choice something there for everyone. It was well managed the head chef was often visible and there to advise if needed, great person who had a great team.
Special thanks to Polly at the pool bar who kept us well entertained, Hero the lifeguard, Alida and young George at the main bar (he was the best!). Very friendly staff from the cleaners to the management,
Maybe a clothes airer on the balcony would be very useful.
We would like to thank everyone for an excellent 2 week stay, and yes we would return. Rose and Keith
