It’s our first time here at the golden sun hotel. Beach is very close 5 minutes walk from hotel . Where pedlo’s to hire , plenty of sunbeds to hire €15- €20 for 2 beds and umbrella. 15 minutes walk to the main shopping strip , where there are lots of bars , entertainment . We loved it the hotel. Rooms very nice cleaned daily. Always managed to get a sunbed, some days were busy though. Food was lovely, AI drinks were ok. Helpful happy staff. George and Alida at the bar. Polly at the snack bar , always happy singing and smiling. Nothing too much trouble. George at the restaurant very informative what’s on the menu daily. Stathis on reception very helpful, ordered taxis for us. Overall I would come back .
The hotel is located off the Kalamaki strip, which is about a 10 minute walk, but a few minutes walk to the beach. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful, from reception, pool bar and main bar, restaurant and cleaning. The food can be a bit repetitive but there’s always a good selection including soup and salads which we really like. All Inclusive drinks are local spirits, branded cocktails are an extra €10. On the strip, we really liked Shamrock ☘️ and The Venue for drinks and live entertainment. We hired a moped to see the Island through reception (bike dropped off and collected) at €30 per day. Bearing in mind a taxi to Laganas is €15 well worth it. We drove to Dafni, Banana and Garaski - beautiful beaches, and went into Zante town (we’d also been on the fun train that cost us €9.50 each, so bike well with the money and cost is €5 to fill it up! ). We also did the Greek island boat trip. The lunch was not brilliant, couldn’t hear the commentary where we sat top deck, although great swim stops along the way.
Had our second holiday in a private pool room at the resort and spa. Yet again, could not fault the room, location or staff. Only negative is the breakfast, it would be so much better as a small self serve breakfast. I asked for croissants one day and got 3 small Danish pastries.
That won't stop us coming back though, we love the privacy of the pools.
We here now, easy check in, rooms ok fresh towels everyday, air con good, lack of sunbeds and parasols around the pool, they need a lot more it’s that busy! Good food plenty of variety George is a great host in the restaurant, drinks are crap, warm and very basic, soft drinks aren’t great either, it’s a chore asking for ice! It should be on the bar self service, snack bar is rubbish cold chips soggy bun horrible cheap burgers, lack of toilets in public areas! People getting up at 6am to put towels out, all gone by 8am! It’s ridiculous and needs sorting out! People leaving towels on beds all day and not even using them! Nice pool but too busy! Expensive supermarket on site, plenty of bars and restaurants on the strip up the road. Close to airport planes coming over very frequently but not an issue.
We are here now,we are frequent travelers and came here via recommendation via Facebook. On arrival we were checked in nice and quickly and taken to our room, which was ok.I can't comment on the dining aspect as we didn't use the restaurant at all (our choice as we like to eat out) but we did eat from the pool barxwhich was ok.Our biggest problem is the Evening where there is little to Entertainment, we had an English lady singing 1 night who to be fair was good and interacted with the audience. There are plenty of seats outside on the balcony but just a handful inside where it is Air-conditioned, You shouldn't have to drink out of plastic cups in a 4 star hotel. The drinks are Not of an acceptable standard, especially the cocktail list on AI. It's as though the bar staff are not trained in how to make any thing apart from beer and wine which you get yourself. If you want ice ( WHICH YOU NEED AS THE DRINKS COME OUT WARM FROM THE SELF SERVICE MACHINE) you then have to queue up to be served by the 1 person behind the bar which defeats the object, THe other big problem is the pool, you have signs saying you cannot RESERVE sunbeds before 9 am? You shouldn't be allowed to reserve sunbeds at all. This Resulted in people standing by sunbeds 8.45 putting towels down and dissapppearing for hours ,meaning people who have paid over a thousand pounds for a holiday have no access to place to relax.I can't fault the staff I have met but can't recommend people to come here on this basis
