Contessa Hotel

Just home from a perfect week at this amazing hotel! The rooms are modern, spotless and cleaned each day with fresh towels every other day. The pool area too is nipping clean and the sunbeds are so comfy & plentiful. Each 2 sunbeds has a table and parasol. And you can find shade within the established trees and bushes. There’s music playing but at a perfect level. Breakfast is amazing on the rooftop terrace with a fabulous selection of fruits, cereals and a great selection of cooked foods too. The pool bar food was also gorgeous & reasonable priced as are the drinks (€4 euros a large bear or large glass of wine) The staff are so friendly, genuine and literally can’t do enough for you. Special thanks to panos, Sperios, Marious, Angela & Ellie who work at 110% with a smile on their faces all day/night. The location is perfect literally down the street to the very chilled stip! We’ve fallen in love with Contessa and Argassi and can’t wait to return 🇬🇷🥰

I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately our stay at Hotel Contessa was disappointing.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like everything came with an extra charge, the fridge, the safe and even the air conditioning. While we understand that some hotels charge for extras, it would have been helpful to know this in advance.

The room was supposedly cleaned every day, but in reality it seemed that only the bed was made. Towels were only changed every four days, and they were extremely thin and didn’t dry us properly. Our balcony was in the shade all day, so towels never dried meaning we were often using damp towels.

The biggest issue was the reception staff. The blonde lady on reception was rude and, honestly, one of the least welcoming front-of-house staff members I’ve encountered. No one informed us that we needed to keep our room towels after checkout if we wanted to shower before leaving. When we asked for clean towels, we were told it would cost €5 each. We were also never shown where the shower facilities were.

The luggage room is left UNLOCKED, which felt very insecure. Because of this, we carried our travel documents around with us all day in our beach bag rather than leaving them there.

On several occasions, we returned to find our balcony doors left open after housekeeping had been in, despite us being on the ground floor which was concerning from a security point of view.

The bar staff, however, were lovely, friendly, and welcoming, and they were definitely the highlight of our stay.

For a family-run hotel, we expected a much warmer and more welcoming atmosphere. Sadly, it often felt as though staff were more interested in charging extra wherever possible than ensuring guests had a pleasant experience.

The most disappointing part of our stay was the attitude of the blonde receptionist. Customer service was extremely poor at the end of our stay, and she often came across as rude and unhelpful rather than trying to resolve issues.

A particular incident that stood out was when we asked about towels before our departure. The housekeeping staff had removed the towels from our room, and when we queried this, instead of helping or acknowledging that there had clearly been a misunderstanding, the receptionist immediately told the maid in front of us that it wasn’t her fault. This was done while we were standing there, making us feel as though our concerns were being dismissed rather than listened to. No one had ever explained that we needed to keep our towels for use after checkout, so the whole situation could have been avoided with better communication.

Rather than showing understanding or trying to find a solution, we felt we were spoken to in a rude and defensive manner. Good customer service is about listening to guests and resolving problems, not making them feel like an inconvenience.
