Sitting at just 200 m from the mesmerizing Argassi beach is this wonderful family-friendly hotel. The area around it provides everything guests may need for relaxation including restaurants, bars and shops, all just a short walk away. The nearest bus stop is only 100 metres away, while the city centre Argassi with its nightspots is a 5-minute walk away. Guests who want to explore the nearby town of Zante can hire a bicycle from the hotel and make an exciting trip out of it. The little guests who need a place where to let off steam will have their own children's playground, while the adults can relax in the excellent outdoor bar or enjoy the local cuisine and an excellent wine at the restaurant. The stylish, cosy and modern accommodations are ideal for a quiet and peaceful stay and they all feature either a balcony or a terrace.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked so we were unable to stay there this year, but we decided to go and have a drink as we absolutely loved the poolbar atmosphere last year. Panos was the only one working at the time, and he couldn’t do enough for us. He remembered us from last year and spent time chatting. He is absolutely brilliant! He doesn’t stop working, yet still has time for the guests. Every hotel needs a Panos!
Spent a couple of days at contessa and all I can say is wow. Breakfast superb, staff excellent especially reception girls who was so helpful and pleasant. Yes extra to pay for aircon etc etc and this happens all over Greece so a tip always check with your booking operator and prices for any upgrades are the main for Greece. Snack bar food amazing as well as all the staff who work tirelessly to meet your needs. Cleaners all so friendly and do a fantastic job. Would I recommend this hotel definitely and in my opinion the best hotel in Argassi by far and I have stayed in plenty over the years.
Stayed 7 nights in June and we had a fabulous holiday in a lovely room with a pool view . We stayed in room 414 which in a separate block from the main hotel . This could be tricky if you've got mobility issues as there are no lifts here or ramps . We were on the first floor and access was via a spiral staircase . Room was spotless and very modern and the housekeepers done a fantastic job . Pool was beautiful never a problem with sunloungers , yes quite a few were shaded but as the sun moves around during the day they all get some sun . Pool bar was good with excellent staff and food . Breakfast was very good and well varied , only criticism is the position of the juice and coffee machines can cause a bottleneck . Staff at reception were helpful for any requests . Personally I think it more 4 star than 3 star . Extra for air-conditioning , safe and fridge but knew this when booking as some guests were complaining but that's down to there travel agent not passing this information beforehand . Short walk to shops and restaurants .
Let's start with the positives. Angela. the receptionist, is a wonderful, helpful,go out of her way to help person. The breakfast is excellent. However, that's as far as the good stuff goes, unfortunately. This is the only hotel in Greece (and I've been to plenty) that charges for the fridge, room safe and air con on top of the room charge. Not only that, but prior to my booking I double checked with the hotel's own website and chatbot which advised me there was no charge for these services. The receptionists (not Angela) told me that this was for bookings made directly with the hotel only although the website did not make that distinction. I asked to speak with the manager, only to be told that he was not available and rarely visited the hotel!!! With the temperatures set to climb towards the 40s and aircon at 10 Euros per day, you should prepare yourself for either an expensive surcharge (illegally added under European law) or a very warm stay.
We’ve just returned from an amazing 7 night stay at Contessa Hotel Argassi, Zante. The quality of the hotel in our opinion was much superior to its actual star rating and believe it more to be a 4* based on our previous hotel stays throughout Greece. Our room was modern, very clean, spacious and in very good order, as was all of the hotel. The swimming pool area was excellent too and the best sunbeds we’ve had at a hotel. All of the staff were super friendly and Angela especially who was on reception was a real asset to the hotel. So we’re the guys who worked at the pool bar Panos and the team also really contributed to a fantastic stay. The friendly night porter Manos was also on hand every night if you needed anything. The Contessa is a real gem of a hotel at its price point and we can’t recommend enough.
