The hotel is situated in Imerovigli in a very quiet and peaceful location which enjoys breathtaking sunsets and unique views of the deep blue Aegean sea and the caldera. Shops, restaurants and public transport connections are within around 150 m of the hotel. The main town of Fira with bars and pubs is around 1.8 km from the hotel. Santorini's Airport is about 10 km away while the main port of Athinios is approximately 12km
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Gold Suites in Imerovigli! Our room was beautiful and our patio with its own pool was a perfect way to enjoy the gorgeous caldera view. Maria at the front desk couldn’t have been more helpful and I recommend Gold Suites very highly!
My wife and I stayed at this resort as part of our 4 island vacation to Greece. This was by far the least impressive of the 4 hotels. It is very small, only 13 rooms and they seemed short staffed. Credit to the 2 gentlemen who worked the pool bar, picked up luggage and brought the breakfast each morning. The pool area is unimpressive, dirty and only has 4 lounge chairs. Our room was tiny and we had to use the a small table and couch to store our luggage as there are no closets.
The chairs on our small deck were falling apart, as was the faucet in the bathroom. The receptionist was rude and seemed indifferent about any requests or question we had for her.
Only positive is the view, but you can get that at almost every resort in that area.
We were here 3 nights for our honeymoon, but this was overall a disappointing experience. We booked a Junior Suite (sold out, so no upgrade availability). They don't warn you that this room is right by the pool/bar/restaurant (and the room next to us was also like that). Unlike other rooms in the hotel, there's no privacy. But it was quiet, despite that. The Junior Suite had a very dark bathroom and the furniture/amenities all looked old. The pool was never used by the other guests because it was unheated and so ice cold in September. The bar/restaurant staff is rarely there. They really need a bell to bring them around! Often difficult to order food/drinks. The food, however, was very good. But it comes from a restaurant off-site, so there is a wait (if you can even find someone to order food). I would see people show up and see no one at the bar/restaurant, and then walk away. The breakfast was adequate. But it was like playing the lottery to see if you'd get what you actually ordered. The manager/concierge was rather surly and unwelcoming. There are stunning views, and they do provide a welcome bottle of prosecco & lovely snacks. Plus, beatiful and scenic wlaking nearby. However, this did not feel like a luxury hotel. There are many other choices in Imerovigli with incredible views. I recommend staying elsewhere.
The location was very good in Imerovigli between Fira and Oia. The hotel also has a great location on the Caldera with exceptional views.
I arrived early, exhausted from plenty of travelling with little sleep, and George the manager kindly upgraded me to this sister hotel, so I could move straight away into this vacant suite with private balcony and jacuzzi and make it my home for the week. And I was made to feel very welcome by the lovely Natassa at reception who had plenty of recommendations for outings and activities and she was so helpful securing appointments for treatments in the Gold Spa next door and a cruise on a catamaran. My suite was in a really good position to catch the spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the Caldera and looking towards Oia. The room service breakfasts delivered each morning and set out for me on the balcony by the two lovely breakfast guys, Fabio and Stavros, were so nourishing and delicious, and “Bravo” to the chef, for the inspired offerings on his menu, and the wine list was considered, and I particularly enjoyed the delicious Rosé from Achilles… I unfortunately didn’t get to try any of the cocktails , as tempting as they appeared on the list. Many thanks to the lovely Lina who helped me out with things in my room, and Felipe (sp?) with the jacuzzi and Harris (sp?) who delivered my meal and drink requests so efficiently. Everyone was so cheerful, helpful and obliging, and I was looked after incredibly well, I really struck gold
