Mitsis Rodos Maris Resort and Spa

Currently staying at this lovely hotel. We arrived on Thursday ( it is now tuesday) and we were greeted by lovely, friendly reception staff, a welcome drink and a gentleman who took our bags and ourselves to the room in a buggy. Our room is lovely and clean, plenty of space, mini bar filled regularly. The food in the restaurant is good. My partner is veggie and hasn’t struggled to eat. The only evening there wasn’t much veggie choice was on the seafood night. Big shoutout to Alex, Evelina and the animation team. They have gone above and beyond to make our little boy Teddy have a brilliant time. He has loved every minute of the mini discos and the activities they have to offer. The evening shows are great fun, my partner took part in the comedy show and it was one of the highlights of the holiday.. fabulous! Hahaha!!! The shows are super interactive and very fun. We love a good show and mini disco so it was right up our street! Great for kids and families! The beach is beautiful, lovely bean bags and loungers, food on the beach and the beach bar staff are so lovely too. All staff have been fab, the restaurant staff all so friendly. We haven’t spent much time around the pool as we have really fallen in love with the chilled vibe at the beach, plenty of space to spread out with toys etc and we found that the pool was quite crowded and if you weren’t there by the crack of dawn you’d struggle to get a bed. The cleanliness of the hotel as a whole has been great. The only thing I would say needs some improvement is the loos at the beach. They haven’t been cleaned regularly, bin overflowing with toilet paper and sanitary products and there is no loo roll left, although this has only been on one occasion so far so can’t judge too harshly. It was mid morning though so it doesn’t look like it has been cleaned since some point the day before or even the day before that. Loads of activities to take part in, and of course glorious weather and the sea is perfect. We hired a car from inside reception- super easy, straight forward and had a lovely run out to the old town for the day. Everything has been fantastic, and lived up to our expectations of a Mitsis hotel ( this is our second stay at a Mitsis- previously visited family village in Kos). 10/10 would come back again! Our stay at Mitsis Rodos Maris was, overall, a lovely holiday. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning grounds, a fantastic pool area, and a gorgeous beach right on the doorstep. The drinks were excellent throughout our stay, and we particularly enjoyed the pool bar, the crêperie, and the café bar next door. The aqua gym was also a real highlight and added a fun touch to our holiday.

What really made the experience special, however, was the staff. Every member of the team worked incredibly hard and was always friendly, welcoming and helpful. They are a real credit to the hotel, especially the lovely barman at the pool, who always served everyone with a smile despite how busy it was.

Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment of our stay. For a hotel advertised as five-star, the buffet did not meet the standard we were expecting. The selection often lacked variety and quality, and even the à la carte restaurants didn’t feel like a five-star dining experience. Considering the price we paid for the holiday, we expected the food to be one of the highlights, but sadly it was the aspect that let the hotel down the most.

Another issue was the sunbeds. The “sunbed wars” are very real here. Having to get up at 7:00am just to have a chance of securing a sunbed, only to find that most had already been reserved, was frustrating and took away from what should have been a relaxing holiday. It would be great if the hotel could introduce a fairer system to stop guests reserving beds for hours without using them.

Overall, we had a wonderful week and created some lovely memories. The hotel is in a beautiful location, the facilities are excellent, and the staff are exceptional. However, the food quality and the sunbed situation mean we feel this is closer to a three-star experience than the five-star holiday we had expected. With improvements in these areas, this hotel could truly live up to its potential.
