Labranda Kiotari Miraluna Resort

I have visited various all inclusive resorts across Europe and Africa and can honestly say this is the worst I have been to. The very first day had some moderate rain, which is certainly not the resorts fault, but their flood protection seems to be non-existent. In fact, their guttering literally emptied out onto the pathways outside some rooms and you could have had a very thorough shower. Their funneling is so efficient i am surprised its not deliberate and perhaps intended to be some sort of massive bathhouse. It was actually dryer to stand out in the rain in some cases. All this water travelled down the different floors and ended up flooding the lower rooms. The stairwells themselves were unusable because they resembled waterfalls. Their only solution was to have their cleaners try and mop it up. When the issue was brought up to reception I was told that it was raining and expected to get a "little" wet.

Later the same day I turned on the air conditioning unit only to have live cockroaches fall out of them. Instantly killed one of course while the others scurried away and when reported to reception the most they offered was to clean the body and it was a common problem. Requests to change room in this roach motel were firmly denied unless we pay a premium.

After escalating the issue to the hotel groups owners we did finally get a room change to an outdated and dilapidated room at the far back of the hotel where the WiFi is almost non-existent and the door needs to have a lot of force applied to open or close it. We asked if there was any other option but we're told we would have to pay for it so we ultimately chose to stay in the new room in hopes that there were no cockroaches. Though we have come across the bodies of others along the paths connecting the buildings near the main restaurant. So I would be very cautious of their hygiene standards. Speaking of their food, I don't think they have ever heard of seasoning. It is the most bland and unimaginative food I can imagine. The definition of eating for survival rather than enjoyment.

Though probably for the best that I am not encouraged to eat much with the roach infestation. When I booked the resort I was aware that the outdoor pools weren't heated but I was told that the pool in the spa was. This is incorrect. Turns out they don't heat it and it is freezing cold. So make sure you don't mind freezing swimming pools. If you have the misfortune of staying here I would recommend surviving off the gyros and pizza stations. Those aren't bad. A little bland but practically gourmet compared to the rest.

I would say the resort deserves 1 star but in reality it should be shut down for health and safety until it can be fumigated. They seem to be used to complaints as any attempts to solve problems fall on deaf ears.

We are still here on holiday, leaving on Thursday. But we have had an AMAZING time here.

The rooms are lovely — we originally had a room with a balcony overlooking a pool, however, after it suffered a leaky roof following unprecedented storms towards the middle of last week, reception were absolutely BRILLIANT and switched us to a new poolside ground floor room WITHIN 60 MINUTES of us reporting the problem. FANTASTIC!!

The food is wonderful, a great variety and enjoyable themed nights. Plenty of space to sit, either indoors or outside.

Great public transport links to Rhodes Old Town and Lindos (by bus and by boat). Set off early if traveling by bus as the service can be busy later in the day.

There’s also a useful Road Train which can take you around the local area.

Tonight we are dining at one of their speciality restaurants so I will update the review accordingly afterwards.

The staff are great too. No issues. Polite, friendly and with a warm welcome to all.

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel for families. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable first visit to Rhodes.

P.S. please ignore any negative reviews you may read on here, especially the most recent ones. Some people are far, far too quick to jump on here and post negativity. It is a wonderfully run hotel and any issues anyone might encounter do seem to be resolved swiftly.
