Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We have just returned home from 10 days at this hotel and had a brilliant time. Having seen some negative reviews we were a little apprehensive but we had no reason to be. We were a party of 11 with 5 children. We arrived at the hotel after 10pm and were quickly checked in and offered food which was very appreciated. We found all staff to be friendly and helpful. Reception booked us several taxis no issues. The rooms were clean and a good size and we had fresh towels and beds made daily. No issues getting sunbeds for us all. Big and little children loved the slide! The Pool area was clean and well maintained. The pool bar did get busy at times and could have done with an extra pair of hands behind the bar. The food was varied and enjoyable, yes you get some of the same things daily but there was always lots of choice.
A special mention to the animation team/kids club staff, particularly Greg and Celine who my children absolutely adored!
Very sad to be home now. Thank you for a great stay!
Had a wonderful time with my daughter and granddaughter India. Greg and the animation team are fantastic. Full of energy and fun. They welcomed India and she had a fabulous time with Greg and the team. The pool activities are fabulous and the evening entertainment is excellent including the kids mini disco and the evening shows were at a vert high standard. Our room was beautiful and cleaned every day. The food was lovely and we booked the Italian restaurant for one evening… delicious. The buffet has plenty to choose from and themed nights. The Chinese was yummy. There were tears all round when we had to leave. Thank you for making our holiday extra special. Julie & Lois.
We arrived at the hotel at about 1.30 am, quick check in and was advised food was available. As per other reviews soup and rolls and cooked meat, no problem I do not expect a 3 course meal at that time, this was all very welcome. Onto the room, we are a family consisting of myself 80, my daughter and her partner and my granddaughter 10. I had booked a two bed apartment, what we had was a one bed apartment but they had removed the kitchen and lounge area and put two beds in it. An 80 year and a 10 year old sharing a bedroom!!!!!, no chairs or table just the beds, being quite tired we had no option but to stay the night, we made up a bed by taking a mattress into my daughters room for my granddaughter and they said they would deal with it in the morning. In fairness to the hotel when we went to reception the next morning it all been dealt with and we had a lovely two bedded apartment at the quiet end of the resort. Things do go wrong and it is how they are dealt with is the important part, the dealt with this issue very well. We found no issues with sun beds around the pool, it seemed to us that when ever the beds were all being used more would appear, although you still get people who put there towels down and then disappear for a few hours. We found the hotel quite clean and tidy and have no complaints as to that aspect.
Food was quite good, normal all inclusive food, breakfast was cereals cooked meats and pastries, there was a lady doing omelettes to your own choice or any other type of eggs, yes there were some strange things but you don't like them don't eat them. Lunch by the pool was ok with reasonable amount of choice, Giros, Pizza every day plus some cooked meat and hot meat, consisting of chicken, pork or lamb, plenty of salad and ice cream plus drinks all help yourself. Dinner was also ok there was choice of meat usually chicken, Pork and Lamb plus various potato dishes, vegetables and Salad with the normal cakes and baklava sweets, wine on tap and soft drinks. Yes the food is different to what we eat at home but you are in Greece so give it a try.
I have saved my slight moan till last and it is about the entertainment or lack thereof. Entertainment during the day is water aerobics, darts and Water polo every day, if there is anything else I must have missed it, however at my age I do not look for things to do when there is a sun bed I can rest on. The evening entertainment was farcical (other than the three tenors) there was a kids disco a 7 every night where they played the same songs and the kids just jumped about, there was very little organisation. At 8ish the adults entertainment started?? most night it was just someone playing music and it finished at 9. On two nights we had a quiz which we thought would be good, however, the person reading the quiz questions out is French with an accent. In general conversation that is ok, but when you are reading out questions, not so much, you are not only trying to work out the answer you are also try to work if you have heard the question right, after three question we gave up. If you are going to advertise entertainment then it should be more than someone playing music and finish a bit later the 9
The hotel will always book taxi if you want to go to Rhodes town, slightly more expensive but very convenient, Town is ok but quite hilly so be prepared.
Lastly Kalithea Springs is lovely, not cheap but it depends on how near you want to be to the beach on what you pay
Taking all of what I have said we enjoyed our holiday and would stay at the Virginia Family hotel again as we would be prepared for the issues
Me my baby girl and 2 boys stayed at virginia hotel recently, in Rhodes Steve the manager of the shop on site was a absolute super star really welcoming and happy. The hotel staff was also excellent 👌🏻 Thankyou
From the moment we arrived at 2.30am the hotel staff were accommodating and kind - asking if we were hungry as they had soup and rolls for late arrivals which was a lovely touch. All of the staff are really good with their guests - whether it’s asking questions at reception, getting drinks from the bar - special mention to the lobby bar staff who never seem to be put off by the guests waiting. They have always have a laugh and joke while serving. In all the restaurant’s they are continually cleaning, clearing, serving and replenishing - they are well organised with staff overseeing it and have a really good rapport going on. We thoroughly enjoyed the food available the entire time we were there: Do take advantage of the themed restaurant nights they have on offer. We managed to get to the Italian and the Asian nights and were served fantastic food and very well looked after by the staff there. Teo managed to fit us in for one of the nights when we thought we couldn’t get in. He looks after all of his guests extremely well and chats to them when he sees them around the hotel - again another lovely touch. The hotel has the most beautiful beach at the bottom of a pretty steep hill but don’t let that put you off - do give it a try. Overall, a lovely relaxing holiday.
