Virginia Family Resort

So my wife, two children aged 15 and 11 and myself stayed at this hotel with my sister and brother in law and their two girls in August. We are very well traveled and I can honestly say this was the stand out BEST hotel we have ever stayed in. So clean and tidy. The food in all the restaurants was absolutely amazing, perfectly cooked food and the choice was supreme with different offerings for all of our stay. What made this work was the maitre’d called TEO. TEO was so diligent and always found a table of 8 for us to sit together. I can honestly say that he made the dining experience unforgettable. A very experienced team member that was the shining star by a country mile. Thoroughly nice, pleasant, polite and funny guy. Thank you TEO.

I stayed here for 7 days with my mum and my boyfriend, and this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. I genuinely don’t understand how this hotel is rated 4 stars I wouldn’t give it more than 3.

Our room was decent and we had no major issues with it, but the food was disappointing. Breakfast was exactly the same every day, and although lunch and dinner had a bit more variety, there still weren’t many options. We also witnessed a guest complaining because her husband had been throwing up after eating, which was concerning.

The reviews we read before booking praised the staff, but that wasn’t our experience. Only a few staff members were genuinely welcoming, especially the Polish guy on the entertainment team—he was friendly, energetic, and made an effort to involve everyone by the pool for example he did water polo and dances and exercises in the pool. He really stood out and made a difference. The staff were incredibly unhelpful. When we checked in, the receptionist simply handed us our room card, told us the direction, and that was it. No explanation of the hotel, no offer to help with our luggage, and no one showed us where our room was. We spent around 20 minutes walking around trying to find it ourselves, dragging our suitcases. Another frustrating experience was the beach. We heard from other guests that the sunbeds might need to be paid for, so we asked reception for information. The receptionist’s response was literally: “i don’t know the beach is separate” As guests, we expected basic information or at least some guidance. Because nobody could help us, we didn’t use the beach once during our entire holiday we only walked there to take photos. For a family hotel, I was also shocked that I didn’t see a single lifeguard around the pools during our stay. With so many children using the pools every day, that didn’t feel reassuring at all.

The rest of the entertainment team was poor. Two of the girls barely interacted with guests, and one night at around 11pm we saw them sitting on the sunbeds by the pool on their phones instead of engaging with people, which felt unprofessional.

The evening entertainment was very mixed. Greek Night was amazing and by far the best part of our stay. However, another “show” advertised on the hotel app turned out to be a computer screen where guests guessed celebrities and countries—not what we expected at all.

If you’re looking for a lively holiday with great entertainment and a welcoming atmosphere, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. If you’re a family with young children, it’s probably an okay option, but for us it definitely wasn’t the 4-star experience the reviews suggested.
