Virginia Family Resort

The hotel was lovely, the rooms were clean, the pools were great. We had a brilliant time. The entertainment the first few days was okay, the mascot came in the day which was brilliant but there was no mini disco in the evening, however half way through the week they started doing them!

The food was actually brilliant. The breakfast there were pancakes, bacon, frankfurter sausages, beans , eggs etc! Pastries, French toast, fruits, bread! Everything you would need!

Lunch was delicious too, if you wanted the snack bar there were gyros, hot dogs, chips and the best tasting pizza I’ve ever had! The restaurant food was good too, I loved the salad and meat available and the rice was delicious too! Always chicken nuggets for the kids and fish fingers etc!

Dinner was multiple themes

Asian night (my fav) with sushi galore! But loads of other options too for people who didn’t like sushi. Mexican night, Italian night, international night! There was just loads for everyone and the puddings were delicious.

The only suggestion I have for the hotel is to provide coffee and tea daily in the rooms with maybe complimentary milk. All we wanted was a coffee and tea in the morning without having to leave the room and as it’s all inclusive surely doesn’t make any odds.

Other than that, we had a brilliant experience and as a party of 9 + a toddler have all said we would return! (Just wanted to add too that all of the bar staff and cleaners were so friendly and made such an effort with my 3 year old little boy, he loved them all)

This is the second year in a row we’ve stayed at the Virginia resort. There have been some staff changes since last year but we were so happy to see Marisol, Jay-Ar, Jayvee, Levis, Jo and Mario were still working here. Theodoris (Teo) was very helpful, approachable and friendly as a manager and would try his best to accommodate us guests. The food was very good as we enjoy a varied Mediterranean diet, there are plenty of choices for everyone including those that aren’t as adventurous. The addition of the Asian cuisine Al-a-carte restaurant is a nice addition and we were pleased to see the Gyros snack bar still present. Although the cocktails weren’t as good as last years choices we really missed the Pina Coladas this year that were inclusive and on specials and the Strawberry dachary like last year. The entertainment was good but other guests complained that it wasn’t on long enough. There’s a handy bus stop close by and the bus routes are easy to use to Lindos, Faliraki and Rodos old town which means you don’t have to pay for expensive excursions and can return at will rather than the set times of the excursion trips. Some of the upper management aren’t quite as approachable or guest centred as we found Teo to be who I must point out is a credit to the resort which is a shame because the customers are what makes the business and pays the wages but on the whole it’s a fabulous hotel experience that could do with some tweaks here and there to improve its aesthetic appeal. Would we stay here again? Yes we would if the hotel makes some adjustments, returning guests should be given a warm reception and possibly a discount 😂. We were there for our anniversary and last year we were presented with a cake a plate of fruit and a bottle of wine but this year sadly didn’t receive anything 😔. The only other niggle is the unsightly rubbish on the road down to Calami beach which is most probably dumped by visitors and tourists shamefully but if there were bins present on route to the beach I’m sure it could easily be rectified. Therefore I score the overall stay as a 4.5. If we return next year I would hope to see the same wonderful staff as before as they are so warm and welcoming 👌🏻♥️

Having been a couple of times, this visit left my family very disappointed to the point of not returning.

There are some improvements I assume on comments here ..

First the bad, 1.. Our main issue was hygiene in the room ... on arrival the toilet in our room had crusted faeces, and brown stains on the bed although the mattress was kind of new-ish .. Upon mentioning it to the reception we were offered either another room, smaller in the main building which was explained as an upgrade considering we paid extra for the bigger room it wasn't .. or cleaning the room, ultimately we opted for cleaning the room which never happened, as not to spoil the remaining holiday my wife spent time and money to do the cleaning herself .. the overall impression given the risk of a hygiene issues there was dismissal and indifference so long as you are not at reception it doesn't matter is the impression left .. now given Virgina staff read this I expect they will say you should have come back and said it wasn't done or something similar .. we didn't go on holiday to chase staff about cleaning .. end of.

2. Ant in the room on the first floor was dismissed, having stayed here before on multiple occasion never had ants or cockroaches or any creepy crawlies

3. The majority of staff seem very disinterested in their work with only a select few who did excel .. Both names I forget, 1 was in the dining area, the other was the young gent on main bar.

4. On the issue where people have commented its not a 4 star hotel, it is .. stars are based on services .. it does however need some serious TLC.

Now the good,

1. The hotel has listened to the people on the cats, they are not in the dining areas and only seen once or twice in 2 weeks in the wider grounds ..
2. There are new tables and chairs also .. one are the marked fabric ones people have complained about
3. Food was very good, there is a slightly smaller choice than previous years but really very good to the point we didn't eat out once.(drinks are still a bit ish ...
4. Communal areas generally kept clean ...
