Recently stayed at Kresten, Petros at the round pool bar was always such a delight to see! He would never be seen without a smile on his face. I also had a facial and neck massage with Lena - I was so relaxed at her hands I almost fell asleep! Thank you Petros and Lena.
Categorically NOT a five star hotel. Would not recommend this resort. It’s a four star resort at most - among the issues, rooms are OK but not five star, restaurants and food are very average at best. They rely on guests to use a hotel website/app to book reservations however the app is defective and didn’t work during our stay. We tried to make a booking at the one à la carte restaurant on the app on the night we arrived but repeatedly came across an error message. The next day we asked at reception if we could book the à la carte to be told we had to book a day in advance. When we informed them their website was down, we were told there was nothing they could do and that they couldn’t book us into the restaurant. The only option then was the “main” restaurant, which is a sub-par buffet. The à la carte restaurants are also closed on Sundays so out of our 5 night stay (one night we’re spending at a wedding), we’ve no choice but to eat 3/4 nights at the buffet. Bad service, wouldn’t recommend. The buffet is 3 star at best. Don’t waste your money.
We stayed in this resort in 2022 and booked last minute again this year, because we enjoyed it last time and knew what to expect. The facilities, the food and staff were great. Just like last time. If anything, we thought the staff were even more friendly, jolly, polite and helpful. Also, I need to point out how fantastic the cleaning crews are- very efficient and very friendly. The only let down this time was a large group (25-30 male and female guests) of guests that arrived on Friday and took over the main restaurant to the point that the rest of tables had to wait a very long time for top up of drinks or plates being taken away. The group then moved onto the terrace area, which quickly was littered with crisp bags flying around and cigarette stubs on the ground. The next day the same group of guests took over a big area of the bottom pool side area and pool itself to much annoyance to the rest of guests. Their own music speaker was blaring, drinks/food was consumed in the pool. The lifeguard had to speak to them on numerous occasions. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and we were incredibly relieved to be leaving the complex that evening. This complex has a very relaxing, chilled feel to it. The presence of these guests really spoiled that and it was a shame that the hotel didn’t approach the group of guests about it.
This was our second visit to this hotel, we returned that must tell you something. We arrived around 23:30, we were offered wraps at reception and the bar was still open 😊. We had booked a superior double room with sea view but we were upgraded to the same room but with private pool 😀. I won’t pick out any member of staff for praise as they were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. I am writing this while still sitting by our pool, checkout time is 11:00 but we enquired about a late checkout. The first person we spoke to said it would cost €10 per hour but to come back later. When we went back we were given an extension till 14:00 no charge 😀😀 I read a previous review from somebody who seemed to think they had booked Claridges or the Ritz. I beg you to ignore their comments, utter nonsense.
We are a family of four that stayed at this hotel for one week at the end of August, children four and seven. Pros: This hotel is beautiful, from the sea views to the swimming pools. Next, the room we had was fairly large and at no point did we feel the room was too small for the four of us. The cakes and general desserts were delicious, possibly the best I have ever had at an all-inclusive; the Pavlova at the Asian restaurant especially was absolutely delicious. Rhodes in August is incredibly hot, and the air con worked well. The Wi-Fi worked well with good and consistent speeds.
Cons: There are no activities and no entertainment at this hotel, apart from one show at 9pm most nights, which we felt were fairly hit and miss, there is no entertainment team, so our kids had nothing to do other than swimming.
In conclusion, if you don’t want to do anything other than take very “Instagramable” photos, sunbathe, and swim on your holiday, then this hotel may be for you; however, if you have young children, then I would recommend looking somewhere else.
