This air-conditioned hotel has a hairdressing salon, an auditorium, a games room and a TV lounge offering something for guests to do in their spare time. Younger visitors can make use of the children's playground and kids' club. The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool and a children's swimming area. Convenient refreshments can be found at the poolside snack bar and health enthusiasts will appreciate the gym and sauna. Various water sport activities are also available.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
A big thank you to Yannis, who took great care of us during our short 3-day stay. I am Greek but I don’t speak the language, and he was incredibly helpful throughout our trip. He assisted us with everything we needed, recommended a great restaurant, and helped us book our activities. His kindness, simplicity, and genuine care truly made a difference. He is a beautiful soul.
The hotel food was quite good, and the rooms were clean and satisfactory. The hotel is very well located, offering a stunning view and beautiful turquoise water. I highly recommend it! 🌊☀️✨

We were very surprised to read so many poor reviews for this hotel. We are just coming to the end of our 2 week stay and we will be very sad to leave! This was our first visit and after settling in we found the location perfect, the pool area and beach perfectly situated. All the staff have been been very helpful and courteous, the food on offer we found to be fresh, plentiful and varied. We always managed to find something to our taste….breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, the highlight of our holiday was BILLY from the animation team. Always cheerful, friendly and most amusing. Definitely an asset to Sunshine Rhodes Hotel! 🙏 Well done to all….we hope to return sometime in the future.
It seems to have lost at least two of its four stars. The only plus is the location—and that’s where the positives end. The hotel is neglected and in need of a major overhaul. There is pervasive mold and dirt, and an unpleasant odor. The mattresses are completely worn out and lumpy. Housekeeping consists merely of straightening the bedspread. There is an old bathtub that was painted with enamel and crudely converted into a shower. The furniture is damaged. The lobby restroom was dirty and uncleaned, with blood on the faucet. The hotel is located right under the flight path for landing planes, so there is a terrible roar all day long. While the noise might be a novelty during the day, it wakes you up and startles you in the middle of the night. It is surrounded by a swampy moat filled with trash. The food is monotonous; the meat is fatty and tough, and—due to the high volume of guests—often burnt rather than properly cooked or grilled. The fruit is unripe, the cold cuts are low-quality, and the cheeses bear no resemblance to authentic Greek cheese. Alcohol is rationed—limited to two small plastic cups at a time. There are queues at the bars, so by the time you get a drink or a beer, you might as well get back in line. Halfway through our vacation, we started eating out and buying beer for the evening at local shops. The pools vary in depth and are reasonably clean, though they are clearly showing their age. Sunbeds are claimed before sunrise, so forget about sleeping in on your holiday; there are no spots left by 5:30 AM. The beach is rocky with heavy waves. It’s great for water sports, but for actual swimming, you have to go to the other end of the island. A typical mass-market resort for undemanding guests. We do not recommend it 😥.
The hotel has a four start rating, the rooms however do not reflect a four star hotel as the rooms are dated. The hotel is on the sea front which is a bonus. The staff are friendly and helpful, we had a lot of interaction with the reception staff especially the two George's. As for the entertainment, this was very hit and miss as the area was separate from the main building and no drinks available unless you got them from the pool bar area. In general the hotel is well cleaned and managed, however, the one of concern is the food. Most of the food is acceptable but we did have a few concerns about some of the food served - Rock hard chicken nuggets, excess fluid in scrambled eggs excessive oil on the fried eggs. During the stay you can have a meal at the Mama Mia restaurant this turned out to be a bad experience as the main course was terrible. We had a meeting with the hotels maître de to discuss the food, improvements were made and gave us a better experience.
So we would suggest that if you are not happy with the food discuss this with the management as they may be able to assist with improvements for you
Room dirty food very poor, left the hotel after 4 days with no help from the hotel. Headboard in the room was covered in mould and other unknown substances. Food limited selection repeated daily and avoid the pork as either under cooked or dry.
