The hotel is located on the beach of Ialyssos, on the northwest part of Rhodes; it is 8 km from the island capital, and 6.5 km from the airport. Ialyssos, also known as “Trianta”, is the second largest city on the island, with a population of approximately 12,000; it also features one of the most beautiful and fully organized beaches, with fine sand, pebbles and crystal-clear waters. It is also known for attracting wind surfers, due to the favourable winds in the area. Due to this, wind surfing competitions are held here every year. The establishment is distinguished for its high level of services combined with an ideal location on one of the best-organized beaches on Rhodes, and the staff’s hospitable attitude, will turn the guests holiday into an unforgettable experience. Easy access both from the city of Rhodes and from the airport, coupled with the countless options available to visitors for sight-seeing, food, shopping, and entertainment, have elevated Ialysos to one of the most popular destinations on Rhodes. All rooms are spacious and full of light, with comforts that meet contemporary demands like modern furniture, comfortable beds, full sound-proofing, all guarantee that you will enjoy serene and restful moments. For the business guests there is a conference center which is fully equipped.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We were here last week, me and my 2 kids had an virus or food poisining and we couldnt move ourselves from the room, when we talked with the reception at 24 clock at night we needed help, they answered " what can i do? " Other days when we ask smt in the reception, i did not see any smiling face ! there was only 1 friendly person in the restaurant. That was Vassilis , he was always helpful and smiling , the rest seems fed up of the people ! Thank you Vassilis ! He is working at the end of the restaurant part :)
Total disappointment. I booked three rooms with sea view, but recieved rooms with side view on another hotel and trash bins. Ladies on the reception could not solve the issue, the hotel is fully booked explaining that there is no side view rooms in this hotel only land view and sea view. They told me it is my fault I did not write comment. But sea view implies sea view, not the view on snother premises, it is hotels problem if they call side view somehow different. When booking rooms through Booking.com there are pictures of pool side view with sea. I asked to cancel my booking, cause the view is crucial to me, the ladies on ghe reception refused. My short holidays are totally ruined.
I was worried having read a few bad reviews before we left but we had a great 10days here. The hotel itself is immaculate, we had a garden bungalow and it couldn’t be more perfect, the room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed with the bonus of a little garden to keep out 3 year old occupied without worrying about a balcony.
The staff we kind and helpful and did everything they could to make our stay perfect. The food is great with plenty of choice and never ran out. Our 3 year old was also always happy with what was on offer.
I would happily return.
Only negative was no jumping in the pool which my daughter loves to do, but otherwise the pool and beach were great.
Every positive review you’ve read if you visit Trip Advisor, saves me repeating them. This was an all inclusive trip with Jet2 and bless their cotton socks!
Great food, good beer and wine, wonderful staff, balcony room overlooking sea and pool area.
Northern Europeans predominate and bring a pleasant change with their quieter, laid back and considerate demeanour. We had to visit another hotel to hear “it’s cummin home”! That’s not to say there weren’t any of Brits. there, but we were swept up into this peaceful oasis.
The pool was a very hot place to be, I don’t know how people could lay there cooking. Well worth paying the 4€ per person beach sun bed. There’s the most glorious sea breeze to be had. You can also watch the wind surfers practicing their art whilst swimming in the safe zone. Take deck shoes to get over the pebbles and you’ll enjoy a swim in child friendly salt water.
I said the foods great, but try a night or two dining out at nearby tavernas, they really are magical and popular.
Pros • We arrived in the early hours of the morning our room had fresh fruit and refreshments, which was a lovely touch. • The hotel had a lovely appearance and made a good first impression. • A complimentary bottle of wine was provided to enjoy at any time during the week. • The room was always kept clean and tidy, with fresh towels everyday. • The older gentleman and the younger member of staff in the main bar were both friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. • Two or three members of staff in the main restaurant were also very pleasant and helpful.
Cons • If you're considering all-inclusive, think twice. We felt all-inclusive guests were treated differently from paying guests. • The snack bar closed at 5:30 pm for all-inclusive guests but remained open for those paying separately, which felt very unfair. The food there was much nicer for paying guests. • It was almost impossible to get a sunbed around the pool because they were taken very early every day. • As the hotel couldn't provide enough space to accommodate all guests around the poolside, you then had to pay £4 per sunbed to sit on the grass area or the beach. This should be included for hotel guests. • The ladies' toilet by the pool was in a disgusting condition. The toilet seat was green, cracked, and heavily urine-stained. • The staff at the snack/surf bar were consistently miserable, rarely smiled, and made little effort to engage with all inclusive guests. • There was entertainment on some nights, which was okay on some evenings and not on others, but that is standard. However, if you wanted to join in bingo, you had to pay €10, which we found unfair. This should all be included within the holiday for all families to enjoy.
• Food Breakfast: There was plenty of variety, but it catered more towards German tastes than British. However, I appreciate that breakfasts abroad are often different from what we're used to. Lunch and dinner: There was always a good variety of food available. Some dishes were repeated, but there was enough choice that you could always find something different. The meat dishes, in particular, were cooked very well and were one of the highlights of the food.
Drinks (All-Inclusive) The all-inclusive drinks were disappointing. The cocktails were pre-made and didn't taste very nice. The spirits available on the all-inclusive package appeared to be of a lower quality than those served to paying guests. The drinks purchased by paying guests looked fresher, tasted better, and were presented much more nicely. The main bar stopped serving all-inclusive drinks at 11:00 pm but remained open for guests who were paying, which again made us feel that all-inclusive guests were treated differently.
Overall Unfortunately, I would not stay at Blue Horizon again. Throughout the holiday, we felt that all-inclusive guests were treated as second-class customers, while guests who spent extra money received better treatment. It gave the impression that the hotel was always looking for additional spending rather than providing the same level of service to everyone. If this is how the hotel chooses to operate, it may be better not to offer an all-inclusive option at all. Whether you're all-inclusive, half board, or bed and breakfast, every guest should be treated equally. Sadly, that wasn't our experience here, and because of that, I would not return to this resort.
