Great potential

Just back from a 10 night family holiday at Pegasos and whilst we enjoyed our holiday overall and tried to make the best of it, there were far too many negatives and we didn’t feel that we got value for the price we paid.

First of all, prior to arriving, I’d already read other reviews of guests being allocated a room which wasn’t what they had booked and sure enough, when we got to our room after arriving in the middle of the night (which although newly renovated), we found it was quite small for a family of 4 and it overlooked the road/carpark and next to what looked like treatment works and waste ground at the side of the hotel.

I immediately raised our concerns, but was told it was too late at night to change rooms and to speak to reception in the morning. When I did, I was informed that our room was in fact an ‘upgrade’ despite us paying extra for a sea view, which did not fill me with much confidence. We were told that we would have to spend a second night before we could be moved to a room with a sea view, which would have older and inferior decor. As a way of an apology, we were offered 2x 30 min spa sessions and extra à la carte bookings. I wasn’t really satisfied by this, but we just wanted to get on and try enjoy the rest of our holiday as best we could.

We were eventually moved after the 2 nights, but this issue definitely took the shine off the beginning of what was meant to be a relaxing family holiday. We couldn’t fully unpack until our 2nd day when we were eventually moved to the ‘new’ room with a sea view, which whilst clean, was a little outdated as was the corridor where the carpet had bleached stains all along it.

Also, whilst I was at reception at different times, I overheard three other separate guests also complaining that they had not been given a room with a sea view that they had booked. This is clearly an ongoing issue with this hotel and the management team really need to improve how they manage their bookings and/or system they use. I really hope that it simply is not a ploy to take more higher priced bookings knowing that they cannot be fully accomodated.

I must also mention that after the switch of rooms (where our luggage was moved for us), my wife realised that she had lost her mobile charging dock and when I asked the hotel, they said that there was no record of anyone seeing it. It had simply vanished !

The room service was also hit and miss. We found that we had a lot of sweets going missing which the cleaner must have been helping themselves to. So be careful what you leave out. Towels were usually changed, but not all surfaces were regularly cleaned. Our room had its shower in the bath which could be problematic for those less abled, but the drain in the bathroom floor also overflowed when we took showers.

We found that the food choice and quality of the buffet restaurant poor compared to other similar hotels. The area where the food was served is simply too small and at busier times it was a little chaotic. The food choice didn’t change much from one day to the next and some of the heated foods were not kept hot at all. The staff were always quick to clear the tables, but it’s a first come first serve when trying to grab a table to dine at. You also need to pay €2 per glass of fresh orange juice at breakfast which isn’t inclusive.

We tried both of the à la carte restaurants (Italian and Greek) and they they were ok, but nothing special. The Italian à la carte is simply a sectioned off area of the pool bar. Plus you had to pay for all drinks, including soft drinks, which I found bizarre for an all-inclusive hotel! What is that about!?

The snack bars during the day are freshly cooked pizzas, gyros and crepe/ice cream parlours. These were good but they often had long queues and waiting times and we felt sorry for the solo staff members managing each parlour every day, who were doing their best under difficult conditions. These guys need more help!

It was a similar story for the bars, which usually always had long queues during the day and night. The hotel must look at improving this during busy times. There were so many guests getting frustrated by the waiting times and many gave up but everyone knew it wasn’t the fault of the staff who were trying their best.

The evening entertainment wasn’t great, with the exception being a Bruno Mars act with two female singers who were the best by far. The outside terraced area where the entertainment is, isn’t able to accommodate everyone, but you can at least hear them well enough from across the open bar area on the over side.

The various pools and sun-loungers are quite new and are well maintained, clean and comfortable. The good thing is that you didn’t need to wake at a ridiculously early time to get a sun-lounger but don’t expect to find a spare one if you arrive during the middle of the day, but the beach also had plenty.

Although the owners have clearly invested in recent years to improve some areas of the hotel and grounds. Pegasos is not currently a 5 star rated hotel, but if they can keep investing, modernising and improving in the areas mentioned above, then they can only get better.

Okay holiday

We couldn’t book this hotel again mainly because of the poor dining options and entertainment. There were positives and also quite a few negatives. The hotel is in a decent location and has a nice private beach. Plenty of loungers available when we were there. The pools are pretty small, so we opted for the beach most days. The loungers are comfy and the hotel grounds and beach felt clean. We hated the buffet canteen and so paid to eat out most nights. We got one included à la carte meal during our 1 week stay, which was awful! Mosquitoes absolutely everywhere, a horrid fish soup for starter, along with the fact you have to pay for any drinks consumed (we were all inclusive!) meant we left after 25 minutes and just cut our losses. Rooms are variable. Our first room was terrible and our second room looked like it was part of a completely different (nicer) hotel. The carpets and walls to the rooms on the ground floor are badly stained and need to be addressed. My husband said the gym was awful and hardly anything worked. Our towels were not changed all week in the room and were folded up again dirty. We felt sorry for the lone workers in the gyros, pizza oven and waffle/pancake places…they were so busy and hot all day. The hotel needs a second person to assist these hard workers to improve the experience of their guests and take the pressure off these staff. We enjoyed eating breakfast outside of the main canteen. Coffee was nice and the tequila sunrise cocktail was a hit with us! The bar staff are excellent.

Wonderfull!!

I'm just returning from my holiday in pegasos. Everything was great, and the enterteinment team made everything perfect. Smiles, energy, happiness is what I personally search on a vacation, and I found more then that. I totally recommend it!

Great Location, Disappointing Experience

I chose this hotel because of its excellent location and because I have had wonderful experiences with the neighboring Blue Sea Beach Hotel, where I have stayed at least five times and have always been 100% satisfied.

Unfortunately, this stay was a huge disappointment. The biggest issue was what I believe to be the hygiene standards related to the food. Both my partner and I suffered from stomach problems during our stay. Thankfully, the symptoms lasted only about a day, but for several days afterward we had to be extremely careful about what we ate. We avoided raw foods, ice in drinks, and the water from the hotel dispensers, choosing bottled water instead.

What concerned me the most was hearing that several other guests had experienced similar stomach issues. If this is indeed a recurring problem, I believe the hotel's hygiene standards should be thoroughly investigated.

On the positive side, the beach is absolutely beautiful, the sea is crystal clear, and the surroundings of the hotel are lovely. The rooms were modern, comfortable, and clean, with a very nice bathroom.

Overall, however, I cannot recommend this hotel because getting sick during a holiday is simply unacceptable. If you are considering staying in this area, I would highly recommend the neighboring Blue Sea Beach Hotel instead. Although it is officially a four-star hotel, in my experience it offers a much higher standard of food quality and overall service than this five-star hotel.

Nice hotel although room had some issues

We visited Pegasos in July 2026 with our 6-year old son.

Reception (rating 8 / 10) Check-in was smooth and they had made sandwiches for us as we arrived late and after the restaurant had closed. Nice touch! However, reception failed to deal with the problems we had with our room - see further down - which deducts a little to the score here.

Restaurant (rating 6 / 10) Very large restaurant with a large buffet although the buffet area got really crowded making it cumbersome to move about there. Bonus points for having ice cream be part of the buffet! Food quality and variety was ok, but nothing special compared to other places we have stayed. Salads were sometimes a little dry and not so fresh tasting and dishes were not always that interesting nor tasteful. Given that this hotel is actually a five star hotel I might have expected a little more. There were some issues with food being only lukewarm, but I acknowledge that it can be hard to avoid in a buffet. Buffet has a nice selection of drinks!

Hotel grounds (rating 9 / 10) Hotel area is quite nice and with a luxurious feel. It has some nice terraces that are raised above the Pool areas. Pretty and colorfully illuminated fountains gave a nice atmosphere at night. There is a large bar area with pool tables (cost us 6€ to play). For kids there is a playroom with arcade games - unfortunately the only activity that did not cost money was table tennis. We played a few games, but there was no air-conditioning in this room so it quickly became unbearably hot to play.

Pool area (rating 8 / 10) There are several pools scattered across the hotel grounds. The most interesting one is a lagoon pool hugging the main building, but unfortunately that is only for the few rooms that are located beside it on the ground floor. Everyone else are left with a handful of more boringly shaped square-ish pools. Pools have no parts with shade while in the water, which would have been a nice touch. There were plenty of comfortable sunbeds and little straw-roof parasols that included a convenient small table with holes for placing drinks. There is a great kids area with several waterslides of varying height and length.

Bars and snacks places (9 / 10) Pool Bar is very good and staff are friendly. Drinks are of good quality. Hotel offers several snack options as part of the all inclusive package. We visited the crepe place a lot which offers freshly made crepes and ice cream. The lady working there is a real trooper and very efficient - during rush hour from 15 to 17 it would be good if she had an assistant as the line tends to become quite long. The Pool Bar can also accumulate a line and perhaps the two bartenders could also have used a third at times to bring down the wait. We also enjoyed French fries from the neighboring booth next to the crepe place. The main bar was crowded during the night and it felt somewhat understaffed. Waiting 10 minutes or more to place a drink order was not uncommon. Some drinks were great but others too strong for our taste.

Room (rating 6 / 10) Room was a little small considering we were 2 adults and one child and thus the extra bed took up some space. Room had a quality look and feel and bed and furniture were good. There was a Nespresso machine with all the necessary items for making coffee, although we did not use it. Room also contained a fridge for beverages. The child bed was not so great - my son complained it was a bit hard and the mattress too thin. Bathroom was spacious and nice in its look and feel. However we had several issues during our stay. Firstly, the toilet had a tendency to keep running after use. We struggled a lot with it and often had to flush 3 or 4 times before we manged to stop the sound of water pouring into the toilet bowl. There was a bathtub which my son loves - unfortunately we did not manage to use it even once as the bathtub plug was nowhere near tight when pressed down, so water would exit as fast as it entered. We reported both problems immediately at the reception, but absolutely nothing happened during our stay and neither issue got fixed which is quite disappointing - especially for a five star hotel. This is why rating on this category is only mediocre. Room had a nice balcony with a convenient contraption for hanging towels or wet clothes for drying. Room has a fair amount of power outlets although only one of the two night tables had a power outlet for phones.

Spa (rating 9 / 10) Spa is located in the basement and we visited once. Being located in the basement, arriving at the spa down a white walled corridor feels somewhat underwhelming, but the waiting room was nice enough with good ambience. Massage room was comfortable and therapist was friendly and good. She had really good instructions for what to do, where to put clothes, what to take off and what to leave on etc. which I found really nice. Treatment was good - nice and soft as I had requested.

Entertainment (rating 10 / 10) During the day, pools were visited a couple of times by the animation team, who did water aerobics etc. Also they hosted some games at the playground that we, however, did not attend. Our son enjoyed the mini disco at 20.30 every night! In the evenings there were different forms of entertainment ranging from quiz and karaoke to a dance show and singers performing. All were quite good.
