Mykonos Town

Reborn and amazingly refreshing, the Myconian Korali - a 5 star luxury hotel and fine member of the Myconian Collection Hotels and Resorts, stands tall and gracefully over the sacred island of Delos and the enchanting Mykonos town; high above and yet so close to the heart of the town. As a member of Relais et Châteaux, Korali reveals its unique beauty at a glance; pure and simple forms along with the finest architectural lines, define a spacious entity with a view over the never-ending Aegean Sea. It's ethnic chic character is underlined with colorful details, impeccable fabrics and handpicked art masterpieces by well acclaimed international designers and artists, all creating a unique, sophisticated and yet utterly inviting experience.

At the heart of the Myconian Korali, lies the Relais et Châteaux Restaurant where the fine art of haute cuisine meets the carefully selected raw materials, produced locally and exclusively for Korali's guests. The elegant bar by the pool terrace, the early drinks strolling along the deck at sunset, the all-day extraordinary ambience, are merely a reminder that the night is still young. Yet, the exquisitely designed rooms and suites fitted and decorated in the most prestigious and harmonious blend, some of them with their own private pool by the Aegean Sea and all of them with a breathtaking view, are highlighting a genuine Myconian experience sitting comfortably in the lap of luxury.

Beautiful Property, But No Hospitality When It Mattered

We stayed at Myconian Korali in July for our 20th anniversary, and I want to be fair: the property itself is beautiful and the location is excellent. But at this price point, you're not paying for a room. You're paying for a hotel that takes care of you. That is not what we experienced.

Our trouble started before arrival. Our airline rebooked our flights, which cost us our entire first night at the hotel and the majority of the second. We emailed right away with our new arrival details, and I asked, reasonably I thought, whether they could apply some kind of credit for the night we'd paid for but couldn't use. I made clear I didn't expect a full refund. In writing, they told us they would do something with a credit. When we arrived and spoke with the manager, he flatly refused and didn't even acknowledge the email conversation had happened. The shift in tone once we arrived in person was hard to miss. What's the point of a concierge team that makes commitments in writing the property won't honor in person?

The arrival didn't go better. Our airline also lost our luggage, so we spent about 25 minutes at baggage claim after landing on time, on the exact flight in the itinerary we'd sent. The hotel's driver left the airport, and the hotel called to tell us he'd departed because he had been waiting an hour. He arrived early, and that was somehow framed as our fault.

From check-in forward, there was zero acknowledgment of our situation. We arrived in the only clothes we had. No outreach about the luggage, no offer to help. When we explained we needed to go into town to buy clothes, there was no offer of the house car or any assistance. We ordered and paid for our own taxi. The front desk asked if we were celebrating anything, even though I had already told them it was our 20th anniversary. After I repeated it, nothing happened in the moment. Champagne appeared only later.

Separately, our credit card's Fine Hotels and Resorts booking included a $100 spa credit. This was a card benefit, not anything offered by the hotel in response to our situation, and it's worth being clear about since the two shouldn't be conflated. With only one full day on property after losing our first night and bulk of the second, actually booking and using a spa treatment wasn't realistic to begin with, and every treatment we looked at was priced well above the credit anyway.

On checkout day, the pattern held. We called for bag pickup as instructed, the same service we watched staff provide to other guests that very morning, including one couple who simply left their bags in the restaurant and had staff retrieve them for delivery to the front desk. No one came for ours. We ended up carrying our own luggage down multiple flights of stairs ourselves to avoid missing our scheduled transfer.

None of what we needed was extravagant. Honoring their own written commitment, a ride to town, basic acknowledgment, the same bag service extended to others. Any one of these would have changed everything. Instead, every interaction felt like we were being processed rather than hosted. Frankly, the level of service was on par with a mid tier US hotel chain, if not a step below.

We travel extensively and rarely leave reviews like this. We won't return, and if you're booking a special occasion here, know that what they promise by email and what happens on property may be two different hotels. For us, it was.

Best hotel at Mykonos

Unbelievable staff firstly, and amazing and beautiful resort! It’s three sister resorts in one area where you can visit the others for breakfast and other meals, and the Spa here is also awesome! My fiancé and I had the best time. The resort hotel is 10 minutes walking distance from the Mykonos city and is super convenient!

Relaxing stay with excellent service

Firstly, the service was absolutely top tier; best we’ve ever experienced. Not too present but there for you exactly when you need them. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Only the highest praise for all of the staff. The complex is stunning and we felt very comfortable. Great you are able to use all three hotels and facilities on site as you please. Breakfast excellent with views of the bay. Restaurants also stunning, if not a bit expensive. The electricity cables that people mention are definitely visible but honestly, you instantly look past them and it isn’t too much of an issue. Of course, would be better without them. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Mykonos is beautiful, if not expensive, but one of our favourites. The town itself is an absolute must see; much prefer it to Santorini. The car hire Motospeed down the road also very recommended - get an ATV for a full day and explore all the beaches and local restaurants on the island! Can get pretty windy.

Very slight considerations:

  • The room itself was basic in decor for what we were expecting. The private pool a little shabby and cold, and the decor itself felt a little Ikea and simple. Didn’t feel like the website images. Very clean though.
  • The walk into the town was dangerous and the way back is one big steep hill; a bit of a mission for the average person, let alone during pregnancy. The road is very busy with big buses and local tourists on quads too so one to be aware of. Taxi for 2 min trip $40 though so had to brave it!!! A shuttle would be much appreciated in future.
  • Water is not free and very expensive from the hotel which seemed silly to us as it’s a core necessity in the heat and you cannot drink from the taps. Small bottle €2.50 compared to €0.17 at the local shop but you have to walk ten mins uphill on a main road.
  • Gym beautiful but not open until 9am which then feels inconvenient. We would have used it far more if open at 6/7am.

Overall, loved our ten night stay and would recommend.

Wonderful stay Myconian Korali Relais

Just returned from a fantastic trip to Mykonos. The town is absolutely beautiful, and our stay at the Myconian Korali was exceptional — highly recommended.

We travelled as a couple on a bed & breakfast basis.

Arriving at the hotel quite late, we were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful reception staff who took the time to explain the surrounding area and gave us a brief tour of the hotel. We were quite tired and mainly just wanted to drop our bags and head for a drink, but it was still a lovely welcome and much appreciated.

Our room was very comfortable and well maintained, with a stunning sea view from the balcony.

We spent most of our days relaxing by the pool and were very well looked after by all the staff — in particular, Panagiotis and Giorgos (apologies if I’ve misspelt the names), who were consistently attentive and seemed to genuinely enjoy what they do. The same goes for Mariana. Then Maria in the restaurant/kitchen area, whose warm and cheerful attitude really added to the experience and made everyone smile. The hotel itself is boutique in size, which we really liked. It was peaceful, with just enough background music to create a relaxed atmosphere — although it did become a little repetitive at times, but nothing that detracted from the stay.

In terms of location, it’s ideal for Mykonos Town, which is about a 10-minute walk away. The road isn’t the easiest, as it’s narrow with fast-moving cars, scooters, and buses, and there’s no proper pavement. The hotel does offer transfers into town for around 15 euros, but given the short distance, we chose to walk and save money. That said, taxis back from town are noticeably more expensive, so I’d recommend avoiding them if possible.

One final tip: when exploring Mykonos Town, ladies (and anyone really!) are better off wearing flat sandals or pumps. Heels are doable — I tried them myself — but the uneven surfaces and bumps make walking a bit tricky
