Labranda Marine Aquapark Resort

The hotel and rooms are modern clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and numerous which is great as we went when the hotel was busy. The pools are great and offer something from small child to adult with slides and a wave pool. There is an adult pool which manages to be quiet and secluded even though it is beside the wave pool. All inclusive sees plenty of drink, self service larger and soft drinks. Cocktails are strange and there are chargeable items if you want brand names or ice creams during the day. Ice creams are free at lunch and dinner in the restaurant. Towels are €10 d position each in cash and the nearest ATM is 10/15min walk away. The holiday here is best suited to younger families children under 14 with good evening entertainment. We hired a car for a day and would recommend Kos town, Therma pools and Zia to watch the sunset, Zia gets busy and if you want to be sat watching sunset book a table! We were located in block 15 which was a good spot the only change would be to be on the first floor.

We arrived late alongside several other guests and there was only one person on reception. We were advised that he because he was busy, he would be unable to provide any information on the hotel and that guest services would start at 7am. As such, we had no information on restaurant or pool opening hours. He was in no way rude however it did leave us feeling slightly underwhelmed after a long day of travelling and our first impression of the hotel was affected as a result.

The room itself was clean. I was travelling alone with 2 children and had a large bed and a sofa converted into a bed. I had booked a superior room and given the price, would have expected a single bed instead of a sofa. I have stayed in many hotels with my children and this is the first time one of us had to sleep on a sofa bed.

The wardrobes doors were damaged on our arrival however the rest of the room was well presented.

The pools were the main reason I booked this hotel, however after a few days the water park suddenly stopped working and it stayed like this for a couple of days. There was no communication received from the hotel as to why they stopped working or how long the repairs would take.

The hotel was busy with children and as expected the pools were at times unclean with various food items visible in the water. The pools did appear to be cleaned each morning and given the amount of guests and children in the pool, there is only so much the staff can do on that part.

There was life guards at each pool keeping a constant eye on everyone which was reassuring.

The animation team were always very pleasant and there’s plenty of things to do both during the day and a night.

The food at the main restaurant was as you would expect. There was always plenty of options. The food was always hot and tasted nice.

The pool snack bar was also good with pizza, chips and various types of meat available throughout the day.

All staff were very pleasant with the exception of the reception staff. One of the girls was very pleasant and helpful however the others were less so. The remainder of the reception staff (manager included) I found were quite cold and not very welcoming or overly approachable. It doesn’t take much to crack a smile when dealing with paying customers.

I had requested to keep the room a while longer on my last day and was advised to return at 4pm the night before my departure date. I did this, however was very quickly told no that it was not possible before the receptionist very quickly walked away from me. I had to call her back to then ask if I could Atleast have a shower room which was allowed.

In all I feel my experience was less than what I expected given the price I paid. This was more down to the reception staff than anything else, as I’ve said it doesn’t take much to smile and Atleast pretend to look interested in any guest queries. I therefore feel that the friendliness of the reception staff, lack of communication regarding the hotels biggest attraction (pool faults) have let the hotel down.

Would I return: probably not. Would I recommend : probably not.

Meh….

Didn't fulfil my expectations. Not convinced it was entirely worth what we paid for it, I've stayed in nicer 3* hostels.

First 3 days great, didn't have much of an issue apart from your towel warriors out marking their sunbeds at 7:30am. The hotel did have a policy, it would have been nice if they would have enforced it as the ones who play by the rules miss out.

There was a power outage which was out of their control but the way it was handled was extremely in their control. Our room was next to the generator which made a huge racket so we didn't sleep for 2 days. We asked if there was anything they could do ie. Move rooms as our young 2 year old daughter is epileptic and it's disturbing her, we were told there was nothing they could do and it would be fixed by 10am, it wasn't, it was the following day. We were not very happy. We knew there were rooms available as well and looked to book and it stated several rooms available.

Don't get me started on the pools. They are absolutely disgusting. There were floating bits, we don't know if it was sick, food or spilt juice in the pool. However when they say they “clean the pool” and the s**t is there the next day I do wonder what their definition of “cleaning” is. Please see the pictures attached below to see our disgust. We have since complained to the hotel and jet2. The wave pool was non-existent up to 5 days into our holiday. They turn it on for about 5 mins every 2 hours.

Late checkout. We asked for late checkout ON ARRIVAL and it was requested by our package deal as our daughter has special medical requirements. We queried it the day before we were due to leave (as stated on the paper you receive when you arrive). They told us that it wasn't possible and that we hadn't requested it. We were taken back about how rude the reception staff were on Monday evening. I think they need a lesson on customer service, we were infuriated by their bad attitude and unwillingness to help. We didn't get the late checkout which we needed so our daughter's medical equipment didn't work. She could have died but that didn't seem to matter to the staff at this hotel. We walked past the room we were staying in at 14:25 and no one had been to clean it yet.

We would potentially return, but it would be under different circumstances and not during the school holidays.
