Tigaki

This hotel sits at just a 15-minute walk from Tigaki, the most beautiful beach on the island of Kos. Established back in 1980 as a family-run business right from the start it has always promoted the ideal of a friendly relationship between the hotel owners and their workers in order to provide the best possible services for the guests, and this moto still stands. Set within 10,000 m² of fantastic gardens it offers an abundance of opportunities for games, unique food, excellent drinks and much more. With two large swimming pools there is plenty of rooms for all its guests to enjoy sunbathing or to lazy around in the warm afternoons with a refreshing cocktail from the poolside bar. The little guests can let the steam off at the children's playground or enjoy the water in the special pool section. A tennis and basketball courts are available for some friendly competition. The Archeological museum is 14 km away, the City of Kos12 km away, International Airport of Kos 14 km away.

Peaceful country resort

We stayed for a one week in this lovely all-inclusive resort. It's in the middle of country side, nearby Tigaki Village. Chickens running around the premises. Peaceful resort with lots of sunbeds and two big pool areas. Outdoor gym next to pool. Food is great. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace, which offers views all the way to the salt lake. Local beer and wines are served. Limited drink selection, that's a minus.

This is an average hotel

I have to say this is an average all inclusive hotel the staff are nice and friendly but the food isn’t that nice usually the same food mostly everyday if you are a cat lover their is plenty of cats about the pool bar opens at 11am till 6pm then the main bar opens at 7pm till 11pm reminder if you get a gin you have to pay for it ! The rooms are lovely and the beds are nice and comfortable but it’s a tight squeeze to fit in the shower in the rooms their is a supermarket onsite what is handy for essentials remember to bring your own tea and coffee for you’re room cause they only give you some for the first night the pool bar serves pizza and sandwiches and ice cream from 5pm till six only you can get soft drinks and beer only no spirits throughout the day what I think is appalling there is no entertainment on either on a night time people playing games like cards and dominoes I’m not sure why this is an all inclusive hotel when you don’t have any entertainment on there is a bus what takes you to the beach everyday and there is a bus what takes you to kos town it is only €2:30 for the bus fare what doesn’t take to long but you can’t walk it their is a shops nearby what is about a fifteen minute walk massive supermarket and a couple of shops and restaurants and bars

The staff need training on their manners

We stayed in this hotel back in September and what a disappointment. We arrived to the hotel having only 15 minutes left before lunch ended. The receptionist told us to leave our bags and go get food before we check in & so we did. We arrived to our room which was clean & spacious, with a big balcony. The bed was comfortable and there was a mini fridge which is always good for keeping drinks in. However it all went downhill from there. The toilet wasn’t attached to the floor properly and the shower was tiny with a dodgy shower head. The hotel is surrounded by chickens which doesn’t look great for first impressions. I’m not a fussy eater but I felt very let down with the food. It was bland and basic which made us want to eat out everyday, we weren’t prepared to spend as much money as we did on meals. This hotel in our opinion isn’t all inclusive. The pool bar only served wine, beer, soft drinks & hot drinks. Then in the evening you have your normal bar which doesn’t serve all the drinks. If you want dark rum and Coke you have to pay €7 which is a joke. The first night my partner was queueing to get us a drink, he didn’t realise he was queueing where you have to pay for drinks. The young girl at the bar with short dark hair whistled at him like he was a dog and pointed for him to come round the other way. You don’t treat your guests this way, it’s absolutely disgusting. Then for the rest of the week she was rude and blunt to us every time we would go up to get a drink. That made us both feel uncomfortable which should never be the case. There is no entertainment in the evenings except from Greek music playing. I get that we were in Greece but a variety of music would’ve been better. You have 2 pools and a load of sun loungers, meaning you won’t ever need to fight to get a sun lounger. The Tigaki town was a 5 minute walk and the beach was probably 20 minute walk. You have bus stops near by if you want to go Kos town and some lovely restaurants we ate at. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and I do feel like there is better hotels in Tigaki from what we’ve seen.

Excellent Relaxing Holiday – Already Looking to Book Again!

As I lie here on my sun lounger 8 hours before pickup I’m writing this review for a fantastic 10-night stay at the Ilios Hotel and can honestly say it was exactly the type of holiday my wife and I were looking for.

Before arriving, I emailed the hotel to request a quiet room away from the bar area. Not only did they accommodate my request, but they gave us Room 418, which in my opinion is one of the best rooms in the hotel. It was a first-floor split level room, very clean and comfortable, with excellent air conditioning, a properly cold fridge, and a lovely shower.

We particularly enjoyed the pool nearest the restaurant. It was much quieter than the main pool, with no music playing, which suited us perfectly. There was also no early morning rush for sun loungers, which was a pleasant surprise and made for a much more relaxed atmosphere.

The restaurant staff were always friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks are self-service, which worked well for us. The drinks selection included beer, wine, soft drinks and more.

The menu operates on a weekly rotation and, in our opinion, the food was very good. The fresh salads, sourced from the farm on site, were particularly impressive. There were plenty of meat options and lots of honest, traditional Greek food.

The pool bar was another nice touch, offering beer, wine and soft drinks throughout the day. At 4pm they also serve light snacks and ice creams, which was ideal.

The main bar opens in the evening and offers a full range of drinks, making it a great place to finish the day.

There is also a small supermarket on site selling essentials. Somehow I managed to forget my sliders, but luckily they had a good selection available, saving me from an uncomfortable holiday!

The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the beach, although the walk is short and easy if you prefer. The beach itself was lovely, and €15 for two sun loungers felt very reasonable.

A special mention must go to the reception team. Both the gentleman and the lady on reception were fantastic throughout our stay. They were always friendly, happy to help, quickly sorted an iron when I needed one, and were incredibly helpful when I carelessly managed to lock both my wife and me out of our room.

What really made this hotel stand out for us was the atmosphere. It was peaceful, relaxing and completely stress-free. There were plenty of cats wandering around, no animation team trying to drag you into activities, and no loud music blasting all day. For us, that’s exactly how a holiday should be.

Tigaki is only a short walk away and has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. We also hired a moped twice from N&J Happy Rentals and would highly recommend it. At only €20 per day it was a bargain and made exploring the island incredibly easy. We visited Zia, Kos Town, Plaka Forest and Paradise Beach.

For anyone wanting to visit Kos Town without driving, there is also a regular bus service from just outside the hotel, costing only €2.50 per person each way.

Summary If you’re looking for a relaxed, traditional Greek holiday with friendly staff, good food, comfortable rooms and a peaceful atmosphere, Ilios Hotel is an excellent choice.

Ignore the reviews from people expecting Ibiza with a side of chicken nuggets. This is a relaxed Greek hotel serving proper Greek food in a peaceful setting.

We paid a very reasonable price and felt we got exceptional value for money. Sometimes I think people’s disappointment comes from booking one holiday and expecting another.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we’ve already enquired about booking directly with the hotel for next year.
