We returned from our holiday on 25th July after a wonderful week at the Blue Nest , we booked almost a year in advance and sadly I shattered my leg 4 months ago and thought I wouldnβt be able to go , luckily I made it to this lovely family hotel , every member of staff were lovely and couldnβt do enough for you , from the moment we arrived after a 3 hour delay to the moment we left nothing was a bother , we were offered food after our midnight arrival even though food was served till 9.30pm , our cases were taken to our room for us etc , Allen who runs the bar is some guy from knowing your name & drink to giving you new names ππ really made our holiday , food was tremendous especially the daily specials , we had picked here as we love walking and even with my crutch it was less than a mile to a supermarket and what a stunning stroll it was , the live Greek music was a highlight of our holiday especially seeing George the owners family coming along and enjoying the night , the place was spotless and our room was ideal , I watched amazing sunrises every day from our balcony , cleaned daily with fresh sheets and towels every day too , if you are looking for a beautiful wee Greek haven with a stunning beach minutes away this is ideal also bus stop very near for a trip to Kos town . We loved every minute and hope to return
Wonderful stay , we stayed in a family bungalow it was basic but good . Bedding changed daily and fresh towels
The staff are absolutely fantastic all so hard working and kind .
Alan the bar man is wonderful knew us all by name after the first night ,he even bought a gift for my son on his birthday heβs so kind .
We enjoyed the Greek night with lots of lovely food and dancing . The food at the hotel is good , breakfast basic but enough to get something to start the day
We would definitely stay here again
Ok let's have an honest review because most of these are way too misleading.
They have an insect issue with wasps nesting in several places and surrounding the pool area, for whatever reason where the grates are at the side of the pool where you get in. This obviously led to a lot of people getting stung but the only advice from the hotel was to leave them alone and they'll leave you alone, which obviously isn't true when I've just seen half a dozen people get stung. Even after contacting easyJet, and the hotel saying they would try to get rid of them, nothing happened.
Facilities wise, if the hotel actually updated certain things it wouldn't be half as bad, stained bedding and towels isn't acceptable, the mattresses were either very old, budget or both with springs coming through. One main reason we booked is so our kids would have a bed instead of a sofa bed but even they said the beds were very uncomfy. The facilities are non existent, shower can't fit a 16 year old boy in so god knows how the 6 foot + bigger men got on. You get nothing in your room, TV didn't work, no kettle or anything to make food, you don't even get a cup or glass in the room to drink out of. This is honestly my first time in 40 years of holidaying we didn't have a kettle in the room or some basic amenities.
Obvious staffing issues too, maybe due to the way they were spoken to, the way certain staff talked to the temp bar staff was out of order, and to do it in front of guests was awkward and unprofessional. The cleaners did work hard so no issues there.
This IS NOT a convenient place to stay in Kos, there is literally nothing around it, no shop no bar no restaurants in walking distance so if you need anything you need to get a bus or taxi, overall we probably spent an additional Β£200+ in 10 days just to get to a restaurant.
Kos is a beautiful island so please go, Zia is amazing and Kos Town is alive at night, just factor in the costs to get to a restaurant if you were to stay here and increase your budget to stay somewhere else, preferably with a shop or restaurant within 2 miles would help :-(
What an amazing wee place the blue nest is,family of 3 2 week stay everyone who is involved in this place keeps this place running like clockwork, everyone so friendly and definitely make this place what it is. Big man George is such a gentleman and is always checking your stay is spot on such a lovely genuine, family man... Cheers George π Alan who runs the bar is the best barman you will ever come across, brilliant banter and calls you by name which is lovely, man can he make a good drink... Cheers Alan π Jakka who does all the handyman jobs around the place is such a lovely guy and always polite and very helpful with anything, even invited us to visit his homeland some time, might take you up on that jakkaπ.. Cheers π and the lovely Anna on reception, this lovely lady always has a smile and is has a wealth of knowledge about kos which is great, anything you want to know Anna is your woman... Cheers Annaπ and the rest of the team are great, they all work so hard and you can tell the place is spotless! Food is brilliant, greek night was great the pool area is so very chilled, we loved this, bus stop 5 minute walk to either tigaki or stay on till last stop which is kos main town, we personally preferd tigaki but definitely worth a visit. We also did the 3 island boat tour with odyssey Boat and it was great fun especially for a more chilled excursion with families other than booze cruise although there is a great bar on board too! 30min transfer, great accommodation, amazing family people, what more could you ask. Cannot wait till our next visit, don't ever change what you have George π Until next time Gary, Emma&Beau AKA GAAAAAARRYYYY EMMMMMAAAAAA PRRRRRIINNCESSS THANKS ALAN THIS NOW LIVES RENT FREE IN OUR HEADSππ
Honestly so disappointing, the staff are nice to an extent. Bathroom light decided to stop working after 2 days, as well as the shower actually hanging off the wall making it really awkward to actually shower properly as it just falls back down and when you do have a shower it just leaks out all over onto the floor. Constantly provided sheets and towels with yellow marks all over them? And then refused ice for our room in 30+ degree weather with a warm fridge, if an explanation was provided fair enough but just told no. The whole time we have been here the fridge has not kept any drinks warm and because itβs such a warm area when you take them out they go warm immediately, Iβm assuming no ice as we didnβt buy our water from the bar area with cups that have dead flies in them π Plus the pool area is surrounded by wasps all around the edge of the pool making it awkward to get into. Iβve stayed in Kos 4 times and never had issues like this before
The one thing that actually upset me and knocked this down to a one star was the fact that they wouldnβt give us any ice as our fridge doesnβt seem to work properly so we canβt even have a cool drink in our room without sitting by the bar and drinking it
