A unique architectural adventure, blending the post modern Mediterranean and Venetian style with the dark-blue Aegean Sea. A simple, yet aesthetic, environment worked out to accommodate the visitors who would like to experience something exceptional from the ordinary. This impressive 4 star superior hotel is in a quiet position only 150m from the beach, 2,8 km from KOS city center (frequent local bus service available, as well as easy access by bicycle using the cycle road), 3 km from the harbour, 1,5 km from the yacht marina and 28 km from the airport. The hotel has been awarded continuously for its excellent service and quality by the most major European tour operators and the most popular travellers reviews internet sites.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I had an amazing experience at Platanista. From the moment I arrived, everything was perfect. The food was really delicious, the drinks were excellent, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere was vibrant and enjoyable, and you can really tell that the whole team works hard to make guests feel comfortable.
The evening program was also fantastic and added so much to the overall experience. It was entertaining, well organized, and created a great atmosphere every night.
A special shout-out to the animation team, especially Fredo, Mercy and Joy for bringing so much energy and fun throughout the stay. They were engaging, enthusiastic, and made every activity and evening show even more memorable.
Overall the hotel is lovely. It is modern and everywhere is clean. The entertainment lads were great. - Joy and Fredo. The food had a huge variety but it is hard to understand what you are eating sometimes because of the labelling. The beach isn’t great for swimming but a great view of Turkey.
All the staff were very lovely and helpful.
TUI advertised the bus into Kos Town leaves every 15 mins. However, we waited over 2 hours for the bus into Kos despite having the timetable - 2 buses didn’t stop as they were full and when trying to book a taxi we were struggling there as well. Thankfully an empty bus turned up in the end. We wished we walked but in the heat with kids we didn’t. On the way back we waited an hour for the bus back. For that reason, I felt a bit trapped at the hotel as there isn’t much around.
Regarding the rooms- we had 2 rooms as we are a family of 5. We requested rooms next to each other but they were quite far apart. Although the rooms are lovely and modern the bathroom could be slightly bigger. The beds are really comfortable though.
The entertainment guys are great, but there is no entertainment between 12-3.30pm and the kids wanted to do more in this respect. As for the pool - we used the biggest pool and found that all of our swimwear was turning yellow / orange. So we ruined swimwear and we couldn’t wear anything with light colours / white on it. I washed them in the sink every day but it didn’t fully come out. Something to be mindful of. I did inform reception and they did say they would check the levels but reassured us they check them regularly. I thought it was just us that had noticed but another family said the same had happened to their swimwear.
As for the food, Greek night was the best night. Thankfully we noticed before we went into the restaurant area that there was a bbq outside on this particular night as we weren’t informed about this by the waitressing / waiter when finding our seats indoors.
We took a trip with Tui that picked us up from the hotel and took us to Paradise Beach to see the bubbles. This was a reasonable price compared to the other boat trips. If you don’t have a hotel pick up and required to go to Kos Town for your boat trips. Be very mindful that you can’t rely on a bus or taxi to get you there on time.
Overall, a lovely holiday - clean and modern. Just a few things that could have made it a lot better.
This was my first holiday since being diagnosed with serious illness as single Mum to 3 children and I was really nervous about how it would all go. I emailed the hotel before our arrival with lots of questions regarding my disability and they couldn’t be more helpful. If anyone is travelling here with a disability it is very accessible with ramps throughout. We booked two rooms and they were absolutely perfect- next to each other and with very easy access to the pool which meant we could come and go to the room all day. The pools were great and we had the choice of two throughout the day. A massive shoutout to Mercy and his team. My children loved the entertainment, especially the football and Aquagym which was something we could all do together. Evening entertainment was also good and Mercy even came and sat with us one night and taught the children a card game. This was so lovely of him and much appreciated. The food was incredible and there was nothing I tried that we disliked. Very tasty and fresh. Two of my children are quite fussy eaters and there was always something for them. Plenty of fresh fruit and salad options two and desserts amazing. The pancakes were a huge hit and a big thank you to the lady who makes them everyday- she did a great job! Also, the taverna/ snack bar we used for a few lunches and the food was delicious. My son especially enjoyed the gyros and the pizzas were amazing too. Access to Kos for us was easy thanks to the wonderful bike hire team next to the hotel. It was only 5 euros per bike and it meant we could all go together as I had a mobility scooter. This was a lovely experience and we locked the bikes up as it started to get busier in the town. There is a supermarket close by and a great mini golf course. We also used the hotel beach which was much nicer than some of the other beaches nearby. Sandbags made it easier for us to access the sea and there were always sunbeds available. On the sunbed situation I have to say that this is always something I worry about, even more so this time. There are plenty available. The pool opens at 10 and at this time there is so many to choose between. Even at peak times there are some available and this is brilliant given we went in the middle of August. Thank you to our amazing cleaner - I’m sorry I didn’t find out her name- but she was really lovely and kind and cleaned our rooms meticulously. There are a few cats around which my youngest absolutely loved and he was upset leaving wanting to bring them all home! They seem very well cared for and he especially loved the black and white cat who he stroked everyday. I was so nervous about this holiday but wouldn’t have changed a thing about this wonderful hotel and I would definitely return. Thank you so much to all the staff for going above and beyond. This has been the best hotel I’ve stayed at and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.
It was excellent, brill entertainment by joy, freddo and mercy (animation). I loved the darts, aqua, ping pong and waterpolo. The vibe was chill at times and then energetic at others when needed to be. The rooms were spacious and luxurious. Very good value of money. It was very comfortable a clean. The noise level was quite when needed to be, they also had excellent entertainment at night with bands, singers and quizzes to keep everyone entertained. The location was good with an half an hour walk into town, a five minute walk down to a private beach and a five minute walk to a supermarket. Great service with them taking your empty/finished dishes.
The animation team is absolutely amazing! They are so friendly, fun, and full of energy. They always make everyone feel welcome and create such a great atmosphere. We had so much fun with them and they really made our holiday even more special. A special thank you to the whole animation team, including the animation leaders Merci and Joy! We will definitely miss you! ❤️
