Mitsis Ramira Beach Hotel represents the epitome of service in a unique five-star beach hotel. Located at a short distance of only 3.5 km from the city of Kos, you can easily visit the town while at the same time staying fit by either walking or biking towards it, starting from the awarded with Blue Flag 2019 beach in front of the hotel. The all-inclusive Mitsis Ramira is designed to fulfill the expectations of the most demanding guest, offering high quality services in a secluded and quiet setting. Guest accommodation includes 338 rooms, of which 16 with an individual swimming pool, all finely decorated and equipped with all modern comforts. Both for guests looking for action holidays and those wishing to relax, Mitsis Ramira offers a variety of selected recreational activities for all tastes. Seawater swimming pools, a tennis court, beach volley, beach soccer, mini soccer, mini golf, air hockey, hockey, darts, fishing lessons, cycling, trekking and many other activities, such as horse riding, paintball and diving are some of the things you can enjoy while staying at Mitsis Ramira.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
My wife and I have just returned from a 10-night stay at the Mitsis Ramira for our honeymoon and, overall, we had a really lovely stay. We enjoyed our time together and made the most of exploring Kos, but we did have a few niggles throughout our stay which left us feeling that the hotel didn’t quite live up to the 5-star standard we expected.
The staff deserve one of the biggest mentions. For the most part, staff were friendly, attentive and always willing to help. It was particularly lovely to find Prosecco and cake waiting in our room as a honeymoon surprise which was a really thoughtful touch. The staff at the main bar, particularly Charissa and Zamir, were excellent and made a real effort to chat to us, remember us and make us feel welcome.
The drinks selection was good and varied, with plenty of soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits and cocktails. Our mini-fridge was also restocked daily, which was lovely and much appreciated. That said, some cocktails, mainly at the Chess Pool Bar, were regularly unavailable due to various reasons, which was disappointing.
The evening entertainment was another highlight. There was a great variety and we really enjoyed it most nights, with something to suit everyone.
The biggest downside for us was the main restaurant experience. At busy times it became very crowded and chaotic, with long queues both to enter and around the buffet. There also didn’t seem to be much of a system, meaning you could find yourself stuck in a queue for something you didn’t necessarily want - perhaps having serving spoons on both sides of some of the food stations (like the dessert and salad stations) would help this situation. There is a good selection of food options especially when it’s a themed night, but we felt there wasn’t enough variety and lots of options were repeated making it not so enjoyable some evenings!
We do want to give a huge shout out to Michalista, who was often around at breakfast keeping the coffee topped up and was incredibly attentive, remembering us and making the effort to chat. The beach bar and creperie were also lovely and well worth a visit.
We preferred the à la carte restaurants, which were more relaxed and offered brilliant service. A special mention to Giorgios for making us feel so welcome. We did feel, however, that the à la carte restaurants would benefit from being located separately to the main buffet restaurant, as this would give them more of a quality feel.
We also felt that the general cleanliness wasn’t quite at the level we would expect from a 5-star resort. Nothing major, but the main toilets and communal areas could have been cleaner, and we often noticed dirty plates and cups left around the hotel.
Our room itself was clean and comfortable and had a perfect sea view. However, we felt that parts of the hotel were looking quite tired and dated. This meant that, for us, it lacked the ‘wow factor’ we would expect from a 5-star “ultra-all-inclusive” resort. Having stayed in 5-star hotels in Greece before, this one didn’t quite meet the same standard for us.
Overall, we had a lovely honeymoon at the Mitsis Ramira and there were certainly many positives to our stay. However, we feel that improvements to the restaurant layout, cleanliness, and general upkeep would make a big difference and help the hotel feel more truly 5-star.
Really enjoying our stay. Pool and garden area very clean. Good selection at restaurant. All staff amazing and work really hard. Apart from Zamir who is very miserable and abrupt. I would like to mention housekeeping staff are amazing ♥️
