Mixed review of the hotel. This is the second time we've visited.
Pros: the staff are lovely and really friendly. The kids entertainment is great and they've built a lovely stage area. Although they constantly push to sell t-shirts to the kids for €18!
Regina is great and organised a couple of trips for us that were really good. We did the 3 islands tour which was good and worth the money.
Cons: The pool by the beach is perfect for kids as it's not too deep and let's parents relax whilst their kids are swimming. Sadly we've not been able to use it three times in a one week holiday because of a child pooing in the pool. Then them not cleaning it and just closing it! They should put strict rules in place about not allowing young children in unless they have a swim nappy on. I still saw lots of babies and toddlers swimming naked! The female lifeguard is terrible and sits on her phone all day! The other pool has been too busy so we've ended up just using the beach.
The food is below par. More of a 3* hotel. Very same same, mostly pork, spaghetti, and chips. Really basic. There is however a wonderful beach bar next door called 'Namaste' that we've ended up eating at because I really can't eat the buffet food here!
The bungalows are small. I wouldn't recommend paying more for these than the apartments as they are pretty much the same size. We got it sorted out daughter could play on the grass on the terrace, however, the grass hasn't been cut and the grounds are unkept.
If you are wanting to venture out I would highly recommend renting a car as it's impossible to get a taxi here. We waited an hour for us not to arrive so pre booked one for the day after which charged us €36 into Kos town that's a 20 mins journey away!
It's a shame this hotel has gone down. I think we would only return if they work on the cleanliness of the pool, and bringing the food standards up.
Our daughter has still had a wonderful time
Just come back home for a 2 week stay and it we had a fantastic time. There was entertainment every day and evening apart from Saturdays which wasn’t an issue as you can easily occupy yourself for a day they are entitled to a day off. Nothing was too pushy. All the entertainment was on the board by reception or on the link to the website info which was really helpful. Token idea for the cups was great. Stopped you being surrounded by cups, such a brilliant idea. Reception team were helpful whenever needed, restaurant always had lots of choice and constantly stocked up keeping the food warm and available Room was daily cleaned with fresh towels everyday. Pool toilets were cleaned regularly and the pool area was jet washed cleaned every morning Special mention to Emilia and Thomas. Always very friendly, accommodating and helpful Highly recommend this hotel and would happily return
I stayed at Smy Kos for a week with my mother in June 2026.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning and the reception staff told us to leave our bags whilst we checked in. Upon checking in we received the news that we had a room upgrade to a Sea View room, which was fabulous. We then had a lovely gentleman (unfortunately we didn’t take his name) take us to our room and help with our luggage, couldn’t fault his manners and customer service!
The hotel itself was extremely clean and very well laid out. We found ourselves at the beach most days as we had the perfect amount of sunshine alongside a lovely breeze to keep us cool.
The animation team go above and beyond for the children. The bar staff were fantastic, we had the pleasure of meeting Thomas who continuously provided us with his amazing barman skills and customer service, made our evenings very entertaining, a great attribute to the team.
Would highly recommend Smy Kos, and will definitely be back in the near future!
It was great vacation.Food was delicious and workers were nice to us.We really Enjoy that vibe around. It was comfortable :) We want to come back next summer! Thank you for great vacation here.
We are currently on day 5 of a family holiday with my son, daughter in law and 2 yer old granddaughter.
Our first holiday together and what a disappointment this is.
From the moment we arrived we were put on the fourth floor of what supposed to be the “superior sea view room”. We were told by reception that this was the best room in the hotel. My son and his family have a ground floor bungalow nearby.
Firstly we did not ask for this room and asked if we could change to the ground floor bungalow as I am currently awaiting hip surgery and find four flights of stairs extremely difficult. There is no lift. We were told that no ground floor rooms are available during our stay. I find this incredibly difficult to believe. I can see many empty bungalows. Whilst I understand they may be reserved I was happy to downgrade as the reception stated it would be a downgrade!
The room does not meet our standard. This room is very outdated and in need of some TLC. There is rust, around the bathroom window as well s the patio door which rattles all night. The shower as no floor tiles. (Apparently this comes as standard).
The air con is very poor with water dripping into the room..
there is a very strong odour of sewage at times. It smells like it’s coming from the bathroom.
Our telephone in the room does not work. We have had the engineers out on three separate occasions without success.
I will leave pictures of how our bed is made or should I say not made!
Management are not very helpful at all in this situation. We were advised to see our rep which would be a bonus if we could find them. We tried on two separate occasions to be told they had left early.
The food is very repetitive and lunch dishes are the same as the evening. we are now eating out at extra cost.
My family are bitten by bugs ? Possible bed bugs and mosquitoes despite using cream sprays candles and repellent.
If you want a Lounger by the pool i suggest you get up early. This whole idea of putting towels down at 6am in the morning to me is totally ridiculous and should not be allowed.
Would I recommend this hotel. No Would I return No. There re much nicer places in Kos to visit.
