One of, if not the, best hotel I have ever stayed in. All staff were friendly, helpful and spoke very good English. As I booked directly they collected and returned me to the airport, this was done in a timely manner with a very polite driver and a high quality vehicle.
I was greeted with a drink and a chat with the reception staff. I was then taken to my room and as I had missed the evening meal I was provided with a sandwich!
The room was spotlessly clean and exactly as you see in the pictures. I had a swim up suite and it was well worth the extra cost. However there were sun loungers available in shared areas of the hotel and there seemed to be more than enough for everyone. There were also a number of sofas and other areas to lounge in. The pool wasn't heated but quickly warmed up in the sun.
The room was very well appointed with button operated curtains and good light controls on the bed side. There were two plug sockets and two USB sockets either side of the bed so it made charging devices very simple. There were bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion all supplied. The towels were changed daily. The room also included a robe, slippers and flip flops (There was also a set of bathroom scales!). His and hers sun hats are also provided as well as beach bag.
I had the half board option which meant that I had a buffet breakfast and evening meal. All were high quality. I am vegetarian and felt well catered for. However, I did notice that some items were marked as vegetarian even though they clearly contained fish, but vegetarians at a buffet know to use common sense. The lunch menu was also good and I noticed that vegans were well catered for, which is pleasing to see.
There is music playing in the hotel but it was quiet and unobtrusive. There were also musicians each night but again this was appropriate to the very quiet and adult atmosphere.
I did notice when I arrived that there is extensive building work going on building an additional complex which will be family orientated. However, the work wasn't noisy or noticeable from the hotel. The walk to the beach goes past the new complex which meant that the walk wasn't quite as pleasant as it could have been. The beach was clean and had ample sun loungers. There was a member of staff there but it would have been nice had it been possible to order drinks or snacks. My concern is if the beach will keep it's exclusive feel after the extension which will be a family hotel.
You can walk from the hotel into Marmari but be aware that you will need to go either on a footpath across the fields or along the beach. There are a few well stocked shops in Marmari and it is worth the walk. You can get the bus into Kos from there too.
I loved the atmosphere of the whole complex. I was travelling alone and even as a lone woman I felt safe and well catered for.
I am planning my return visit and debating if I will bring the husband.
Amazing. Couldn’t think of a nicer place. All staff amazing and can’t do enough for you
We had the best week at D’andrea Lagoon, it is a gorgeous hotel with amazing service and the staff were all lovely! In particular Alexis and John. John gave us such a warm welcome, and remained a friendly face throughout our stay. He always had a smile on his face and was super helpful. Food was delicious and had great portion size and housekeeping were very friendly too, sometimes cleaning and organising the room 2 or 3 times per day! Make sure to utilise the private beach down the road too. We went in June and it was a perfect time to go, didn’t feel overcrowded at all and there were always sun-beds available by the pool.
Our third time back at this wonderful hotel which speaks for itself. This hotel is just simply outstanding and truly the most amazing stays we have ever had. The setting is incredibly peaceful and tranquil, making it the perfect place to completely unwind. The welcome is like coming home. All the staff at D'Andrea are fabulous, so attentive and always going above and beyond. The rooms are spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and extremely comfortable. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered. The lagoon is beautiful and so well looked after by many staff members in the grounds. A special mention George, the restaurant manager who made my 60th birthday so special and Simone who greeted us every morning with the biggest smile while still working so hard looking after everyone!
D'Andrea Lagoon is a one off, every staff member contributed to such a wonderful stay. We have returned back to the UK and booked again ..... see you in 10 weeks xx
We were a party of three and stayed at this hotel for 6 nights.
This adults hotel is located outside of the main tourist areas in Kos, offering peace and quiet as few places we’ve visited have. Pretty common areas, including a nice pool, and very pleasant rooms with a large balcony. Lovely sandy beach that was never overpopulated. Ample parking.
We did not have dinner at the hotel, but both breakfast and lunch were excellent. Breakfast had wide choice of dishes, all of top quality. Lunch food was very tasty and very reasonably priced. The dessert chef is truly a master. We ended up eating 4 of 5 lunches there.
Service was consistently excellent at the reception and the dining area. We had very pleasant conversations with Lampros and George, including good advice on wine and sightseeing from Lampros. They, as well as Tolis, deserve special thanks, but the entire staff was kind and professional.
Two points which could be improved:
Housekeeping. On the first day after our arrival, almost everything was done wrong (2 sets of towels instead of 3; careless wash of the coffee cups rather than replacing them; etc.). Things got much better after we commented on this issue. Nevertheless, rooms are inadequately cleaned (e.g., thick layer of dust on the lower part of the night table, inadequately cleaned toilets and sink).
The hotel was apparently designed during the heyday of the very deplorable trend of making toilet and shower doors transparent. This may be a minor issue for young couples, who made up most of the guests. For us, a family with a young adult, this was problematic. Using opaque glass doors in a few rooms would have made it easier for guests who are not couples.
Despite these two issues, the hotel deserves a score of 5 due to the location, service, food, and pool & beach. Recommended.
