- Apollon Windmill Boutique Hotel

The small and friendly hotel is located in the Lambi area of Kos, only 150 m from the beach and within 20 minutes walking from Kos town with its harbour. The airport is 24 km away. Features of the hotel include 24-hour reception, free WIFI in the lobby, restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, children's pool, playground and sports facilities. All the clients of Boheme can use all the facilities of Apollon hotel including all inclusive program without any additional charge
I had an amazing stay at this hotel and would happily return in a heartbeat. As a solo traveller, it was exactly the kind of holiday I was looking for: peaceful, relaxing and comfortable, without the usual loud pool music, forced entertainment or activities.
The hotel has a lovely, intimate feel because there aren't a huge number of rooms. Even in August, there was never an issue getting a good sunbed, so there is absolutely no need for the dreaded early-morning sunbed scramble!
Food: Breakfast was excellent, with pancakes, crêpes and scrambled eggs cooked to order. I particularly liked that you can see into the cooking area, and the kitchen was spotlessly clean. I also ordered lunch from the bar, which was beautifully presented, reasonably priced and had absolutely massive portions. That seems to be a running theme in Kos, though. You definitely won't go hungry!
Cleanliness: I have to commend the cleaning team because this is probably the cleanest hotel I've stayed in. My room was perfectly clean, as were the reception, bar and especially the pool area. Everything felt very well maintained.
The staff were pleasant and welcoming throughout my stay. Pool towels are provided free of charge and can be changed every two days at reception, which is also handy if you're trying to save some weight in your suitcase. Most guests seemed to use the hotel towels rather than bringing their own.
The room had a kettle, coffee facilities and a mini fridge. The shower had fantastic water pressure, which deserves a special mention!
The hotel is also in a great location. It's a short walk to the nearest beaches and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and tourist shops nearby if you don't fancy walking into Kos Town. I'd estimate Kos Town is around a 30-minute walk along a route that is one straight road so you will not get lost. I walked there and back most evenings, but during the day I used a bike because of the heat.
The hotel offers a free bike for your first day, collected from the rental place next door. I enjoyed it so much that I continued renting one for the rest of the week for €20. Cycling seems to be the easiest way to get around, and you'll see bikes everywhere!
For nightlife, I'd definitely recommend Mylos Beach Bar on a Friday or Saturday night. It's open very, very late and had a great mix of tourists and locals dancing and enjoying themselves.
There are also plenty of excursions available to book in Kos Town if you want to explore further.
I did notice guests from the sister hotel attempting to use the Windmill's pool and sunbeds on one occasion. They were politely and appropriately asked to return to their own hotel. The manager was also regularly around the two hotels and came across as very welcoming, professional and well presented.
The hotel was lovely and quiet at night, which I really appreciated. You could actually sleep without being kept awake by entertainment or noise.
There is free Wi-Fi and a luggage room available after check-out, which was particularly useful.
The only improvement I'd suggest would be a courtesy room with a shower for guests who have late flights after checking out.
Other than that, I honestly couldn't fault my stay. As someone travelling alone, I felt completely comfortable, and the hotel gave me exactly the peaceful break I was looking for.
I'd return in a heartbeat. Fab holiday!
My daughter and I were there for our special mother and daughter holiday. It was a beautiful, peaceful time at the hotel, everyone was really friendly and accommodating. A special thanks to Slava at reception. She was extremely helpful and courteous, and very kind, nothing was too much trouble and she was very professional.
We really enjoyed it and would recommend the hotel without hesitation. We will definitely come back.
Thanks to all the staff for making out holiday truly lovely.
With best regards, Sue and Emma x
Fantastic hotel in a great location for walking into local restaurants, Lambi beach, Kos Old Town. Hotel itself is well set up, rooms well equipped and cleaned daily to a high quality. Breakfast buffet is extensive with great selection including cooked to order eggs and pancakes. Staff are friendly and welcoming in all areas and gave great service at all times. The pool area has plenty of space and lots of loungers, well maintained at all times. We are already planning our return visit.
I like to share my honest opinion so hopefully you can make an informed choice for your well earned holiday!
Hotel Immaculate Staff amazing -friendly and welcoming Breakfast - lots of choice The grounds are lovely Lots of cats so take treats for them if you love cats as much as we do!
Pool Only open from 10am to 6pm which is a bit odd. I am always up early and love nothing more than an early swim but its not possible here.it does not have a lifeguard so mot sure why such strict opening times. The pool is lovely and clean and well cared for by staff.
Rooms Lovely and clean Large (we had an enclosed terrace room - garden view) You only get a top sheet on the bed - no other covers or blankets available which I found to be a bit odd! Bathroom lovely, clean and a good size. The shower does tend to splash the floor but that didn't bother us. The shower was powerful and warm
Food- there is food available during the day and on a night but we didnt try this (although I must say that it looked amazing). All food was a good price
Drinks There are soft drinks and alcohol available all day until 1am - we only had one cocktail but it was lovely. We had soft drinks all day and the only issue for me was that the prices changed on a daily basis - anywhere between 6 euros or 8 euros.
Area It is a 20 minute walk to Kos Harbour. The pedestrian side is like an obstacle course (cars, bikes and trees along the path but we found this manageable and amusing!. The other side of the road has two pink lanes - these are for bikes and scooters - we didn't know this on the first night so nearly got knocked off our feet several times! There are lots of shops, restaurants and bars along the way into kos town and a supermarket so there is plenty to look at on your walk. I dont like beaches but they are about a 5 minute walk away - also with lots of bars and restaurants available.
If you choose the Apollon Windmill for your holiday you won't be disappointed and this is the first hotel that we would return to in a heartbeat as we loved it. Fingers crossed you will love it as much as we did!
Really enjoyed our stay at Apollon Windmill. Adults only and what a lovely stay we all had. Huge pool, free pool towels (although website stated a charge). The hotel itself was immaculate and the rooms were very clean and modern. We were upgraded to a suite which was very spacious with plenty of wardrobes. Walk in shower and plenty of towels. The breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of choice. Even had porridge much to my husband's delight!! The staff were delightful - so helpful and polite.
