Peridis Family Resort

We arrived at 2am after a flight delay and was greeted by friendly receptionist who advised our apartment was in a block across the road, as others have commented this isn't clearly signposted so look for a black gate if you are allocated here. We were in a 2 bed apartment in block 3 which had no lift but we didn't find the stairs to bothersome once cases were in the room. Air con and safety deposit box included but had to ask for safety deposit key the next day, the tourist tax is a little pricey but is clearly advertised if booking via Jet2 that this is an additional cost so we were expecting it. The apartment block was across a busy road so something to consider if with small children, we had teens so not an issue and at night you can't hear the noise once doors/shutters closed. The hotel itself is split across locations, with reception being in one place and the pool/restaurant in another, personally this doesn't bother me and was only a minute or two's walk each day. The two bedroom apartment was excellent, with a separate lounge and kitchen/diner with full size fridge freezer, bathroom with washing machine and huge wrap around balcony. Could not fault the apartment at all. The pool area was a little smaller than I expected but still had two large pools and a separate baby pool. We secured sunbeds every day with no bother, with most days sunbeds available well into mid-morning. However people were reserving sunbeds in there preferred spot and nothing was done about this, there was signage but means nothing if not policed. Sunbeds have QR code that you can order drinks/food to your lounger which was a really nice touch that we used frequently. We were self catering so didn't eat at breakfast but did have lunch on one occasion which was really nice and very reasonably priced. There are lots of small supermarkets within walking distance but the biggest is just past the pool area (turn left out of pool and at end of the road) with everything you could possibly need. Staff at the hotel are super friendly and make this hotel what it is, bar/waiting staff always happy to serve and will remember what your order is over the course of your stay making you feel very welcomed. Cleaning staff also amazing, cleaned daily and couldn't fault that. Location wise its roughly 15 minute walk into Kos Town but if you head to the sea there are lots of nice restaurants to eat at without going into town. You can eat practically on the seashore which was lovely. Be warned the paths in Kos are not great with trees growing in the middle of them, would think it would be difficult in places with a buggy or wheelchair user. Kos town itself has a nice atmosphere with plenty of bars and restaurants which we never had any difficult getting a table as a family of four. We walked to the beach on one occasion and it wasn't a particularly sandy beach so didn't end up going again but there was a nice beach bar that we ate at that again was reasonable and nice food. Overall we had an enjoyable holiday and the location within walking distance to Kos town was great, the hotel had everything we needed but do agree with others that not a 5 star. We wouldn't stay again but purely because we like to try different places each year, if you have booked I am sure you will have an enjoyable stay.

This hotel is superb and the staff work so hard to give you a great experience. The hotel is split so a short and I mean short walk to the poolside is required but this is seriously nothing at all. The poolside is lovely and a great place to unwind. Sunbeds are plenty with no sunbed wars taking place. My son used the gym most days and although this definitely could be better he managed. The outdoor pool table has seen better days but we still enjoyed playing poolside games of pool. We had an issue with our air con on arrival this was sorted within the hour of reporting. We booked the tennis court and this was €7 for one hour which isn’t too bad. Overall I’d definitely return to this hotel. KOS as a place in general if you’ve never been is magic. This was our first but definitely not last visit to this island.

As many previous reviews have mentioned, the staff are what really make this hotel.

We booked a package holiday through Jet2, who advertise the hotel as a 4* Plus property. However, Peridis classifies itself as a 5* hotel, which means you have to pay an additional €15 per room, per night on arrival. This covers air conditioning, the room safe and pool towels. We stayed for 14 nights, so this was quite a significant extra cost.

We were three adults staying on a self-catering basis, and this is where I feel the description is a little misleading. The rooms are not really equipped for self-catering. There is a kettle, toaster, microwave and a two-ring hob, but no oven, and the microwave does not have oven or grill functions.

We stayed in Block 4, which is located across a busy main road from the main hotel. There is no zebra crossing, and I wouldn’t be comfortable staying in this block with young children, despite the hotel being marketed as family-friendly.

We had no problem getting sunbeds by the pool at around 9am each morning, but around 80% of them are in the shade because there are so many fixed umbrellas.

These are the main reasons I’ve given the hotel 3 stars:

• Check-in was disappointing and felt rushed, even though our room wasn’t ready. We weren’t given any information about the hotel facilities such as the gym or spa, only directions to the supermarket and beach. • We were simply pointed towards our room in Block 4 and left to carry three large suitcases across a busy road and up the stairs ourselves. In a hotel claiming to be 5-star, I would have expected assistance and to be shown to our room. • The rooms lack storage. There are two luggage racks but very little shelf space, with no shelves in the wardrobes or bedside cabinets. • The balcony was spacious, but the table was only really suitable for two people, meaning one of us had to eat with our plate on our lap. • The beds were comfortable, but the bed frames are oversized for the room, making the space feel cramped. Smaller frames, allowing the beds to be pushed together if required, would improve the layout.

The restaurant staff work incredibly hard and deserve a lot of credit. On one occasion, we even saw the lifeguard helping to serve food because there simply weren’t enough staff. During our two-week stay, we never saw the hotel manager. It felt as though the hotel runs on the goodwill and dedication of its excellent staff.

Overall, if we return to Kos, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again. We felt detached from the main hotel because of our room location, and ultimately a little disappointed as we don’t believe the hotel lives up to the standard it is advertised as.

While we were in Kos, we visited Plaza Beach, around a 2.5 km walk away, and it quickly became our favourite beach. Sunbeds are free if you buy food or drinks, with no minimum spend required. We also went on the Malena Three Island Cruise, which was excellent and is something I would definitely recommend.
