Hotel not worth the price – mold in the room, poor food, but nice pool and sea

The holiday started with minor organizational confusion upon arrival, which was resolved by the airport staff. However, the hotel itself fell significantly short of expectations – the room was in poor condition with mold and beds that kept sliding apart, while the food and drinks were very subpar. The highlights of the trip were the great pool, the entertainment program, the clear sea, and the nearby town of Kardamena. For 21,000 CZK (~850 €), the quality does not match the price, and I would recommend choosing a different destination instead. After our delayed flight to the Greek island of Kos, transfer information was supposed to arrive via the mojeTUI app. However, no message arrived even after landing. Fortunately, TUI staff were waiting for us right at the airport welcome desk and provided all the transfer details. After paying the tourist tax at reception, the receptionist handed us our room key cards. When we walked inside, we were in shock: Room condition: The room was furnished with older, damaged furniture. Bathroom: There was black mold in the shower, the cabinet under the sink was damaged, and the bathroom faucet looked as if it had been corroded by acid. Beds: Instead of a standard double bed, we received two single beds on wheels pushed together. This was very uncomfortable – as soon as you laid in the middle, the beds separated and you fell through the gap. Dining at the hotel buffet restaurant offered a seemingly wide selection at first glance, but had several major flaws: Side dishes: The side options were mostly limited to French fries and occasionally rice. Food quality: Any fried or baked food was completely dried out, including the scrambled eggs. Pasta sauces were prepared right in front of us using store-bought pre-made products. Most dishes were also severely underseasoned. Bars and drinks: The alcoholic cocktails were undrinkable. If you ordered something like a Piňa Colada, you basically got white rum mixed with pineapple syrup. Beach bar snacks: Food at the second bar closer to the sea was equally underseasoned, the fries were dried out, and the gyros was inedible. Positive aspects of the stay: Pool and entertainment: The hotel's outdoor pool was great, the sun loungers were comfortable, and the entertainment program wasn't bad at all. Sea and surroundings: We knew in advance that the water entrance was slightly darker, which luckily didn't bother us. The sea itself was beautiful with an amazing view. Excursions: The only nearby village, Kardamena, is a pleasant small town where you can buy souvenirs away from the beach shops at reasonable prices. Final Verdict: Overall, I would say that for 21,000 CZK (~850 €), you are much better off booking a nice hotel in Turkey instead.

Fantastic holiday

We arrived at this lovely hotel to find a technical problem with our room, we were upgraded to a swim up room for the night and the staff could not have been more helpful or apologetic. When we got to our original room the following day we were given a bottle of wine and a fruit platter as a further apology. The room was spotless and we had a great view from our balcony. The food was great, plenty of variety and even our fussy son found something to eat every day. We never had a problem with finding a sun lounger, the pool was very clean with a relaxed atmosphere. Must mention the lifeguard, never seen a person move so fast when a child fell into the pool! The animation team led by Enzo were fun without being overbearing, they were always cheerful and had a great rapport with the families. All the staff at this hotel are very hardworking and friendly. We all had a great time, would definitely recommend this hotel and already looking to come back here!😊

I would return

An excellent holiday overall. Nothing immediately next to hotel so it didn’t feel crowded. The views of the mountains is stunning. Lovely to be able to use the pool and beach and Kardamena a 15 minute walk. Generally enough sunbeds to go around, both by pool and on beach; still a lot of towels on beds early. Pool area nice with bar, pool toilets need cleaning a bit more. The entertainment team is amazing, various activities to get involved in if you want to during the day. Evening entertainment varied, we were not happy to have to pay €5 for a bingo ticket though as entertainment is advertised on Jet2 as included. €1 is maybe acceptable considering the prize is just a bit of tourist tat. We had a family room for 4 and a double for 2 people, the exact same storage in both which was not really enough for 4. Rooms were cleaned daily and spotless. Nice shower and comfy beds. Air con probably a bit old and very noisy and WiFi non existent in one of the rooms. WiFi was generally hit and miss around the whole hotel. The food was excellent, so much choice and delicious. There is a pizza and pasta station every lunch and dinner, freshly prepared in front of you with about 4 different sauces on the go. Every service had fish and meat available, again being cooked in front of you. Some more traditional Greek options available as well as plainer dishes. There is one beer on tap which was enjoyed by the beer drinkers, the wine on tap was drinkable. Juices were from a machine and were very sweet, unfortunately these are also used in the cocktails at the bar and so in my opinion I’ve had better drinks at other AI resorts. Bar staff/restaurant staff work very hard, shout out to Captain Armin. Reception staff also very helpful.

Lovely setting and a relaxing break

We stayed here for 9 nights and had a great time. The hotel was clean, the setting was like a small village and kept very tidy. The entertainment team were brilliant with all the children at the hotel and made an effort to walk around and speak with families and couples which I thought was a nice touch and created that friendly environment. The food here was varied with theme nights, some better than others but vegan and gluten free options available. Again all the restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly. Evening entertainment was great for the kids and some of the shows such as the acrobat display, the Spider-Man (contortionist) were really good to see and Enzo was always entertaining. There is a shuttle bus that runs from the hotel twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening and is a free service, but Kardamena is only 25-30 minutes away should you choose to walk. Sunbeds around the pool were never an issue to get but after 9am they filled quickly as the pool and bar opens at 10am. They had various rooms albeit basic wooden furniture but clean and spacious and the beds were comfy, some had swim up rooms which were nice if you wanted to relax in the mornings or late afternoon, some had jacuzzis and they also had bungalow rooms on the far side of the resort which we stayed in with a swim up room . All the pools are saltwater and not heated as such but not too cold that you didn’t want to get in. Don’t forget that a room tax is charged on arrival and this is payable in cash (euros) and they have an ATM in the reception if needed. A visit to Paradise beach to see the jacuzzi effect bubbles caused by natural volcanic gases is worth seeing and the water sports here were cheaper than everywhere else. There is also a Go Carting track close by which offer free pick up and drop off, and good for the kids and adults if you want to fill an hour or two during your day. Unfortunately whilst we were there a guest had a cardiac arrest whilst in the pool, the lifeguard (Angelo) was quick to react to get him out the water once a guest had shouted for help and even with guests and staff members trying their upmost to help the guest with CPR he sadly passed away. RIP All in all a lovely break and would definitely go back again.
