The complex is located in Kardamena and is an ideal destination for rest and relaxation. The Hotel was built in 1988. The Hotel was renovated in 2006. The unit has 219 rooms. The complex comprises 23 double rooms, 14 Junior Suites, 6 suites, 11 apartments, studios and rooms 102 63 category Superior. The Hotel is located in the heart of the city. The hotel is a short distance from the main railway station and the central bus station of the city. There is easy access to many alternative means of transport. The hotel is a short drive from the airport. Guests will appreciate the short distance between the Hotel and the most popular entertainment areas in the city. The beach is just a short distance from the Hotel. The Hotel is located a few minutes away from the port. Guests can make use of privately owned parking space.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The hotel is in the Mitsis complex and there are 4-5 other mitsis hotels. The family one is the lesser of the hotels and seems a bit tired. Personally I think it is more 3 star plus than 4. The hotel was clean and the room was spacious for a family of 4. We paid extra for a shared pool and I am glad we did. There is one main saltwater pool which doesn’t have enough space for all guests. Our shared pool was like a private one on many occasions, which was lovely however it was also saltwater. There is a small pool by the water slides which is fresh water and it has a bar that is very quiet. We enjoyed this pool area the best. Around the main pool there is a balcony with seats that are good for people watching and the staff will come and take your order for drinks. There is evening entertainment for children although it is the same each evening and there is aqua aerobics in the pool during the day. The only downside with the room is that the bathroom is next to the main corridors so you can see when someone is in the shower through the translucent window. The beds are also very hard. There is a lot of queuing for drinks, dinner ( depending on the time you go) ice cream, crepes etc. There is a good range of food although it is the same most nights with a few variations. There are only 2 coffee machines so there is always a queue for those. The location is beautiful set at the foot of the mountains overlooking the sea. It is on a hill so not recommended for anyone struggling with mobility. There is a buggy that will take you to the beach every half an hour, but if you are happy to walk it will take 5-10 mins. The beach has 2 snack bars for pizza and gyros and a bar- but there is always a queue. The gyros lady is lovely and always happy! There are plenty of sunbeds and lots of water sports to do. You can also pay to go in the inflatables and you can use it for the whole day. If you are wanting to venture out there is a bus 2 minutes from reception that will take you into Kardamena quite regularly. You can also go into Kos town at 9:30 and it will bring you back at 2:30 which is plenty of time to see everything. It costs 4 euros to get to Kos town and 2 euros to get to Kardamena. Not sure if the bus takes card so make sure you have some change. We went into Kos but we definitely needed a map- we got one from the hotel rep. The bus drops you off and picks up from the same spot. When in Kos, there are other trips to do from the harbour. There are more people in the hotel than the amenities can cope with, ie sunbeds, space and queues. If you need a late check out, ask early to secure it. We missed out so had to be out by 12pm. There are showers just off the reception area you can use if you don’t have room to get changed in on your last day but you need to book your slot. They were clean, had fresh towels and a hairdryer.
We had an incredible family holiday at Mitsis Family Village in Kos with our two children, aged 16 and 12.
From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and very well looked after. The food was lovely, with plenty of choice, and the crepe and ice cream bar was a particular favourite with our daughter, who certainly made the most of it!
A special mention must go to Irina, Brenda and Mario, who always made sure we were well fed, well watered and looked after with a smile. We would also like to thank Cristos, our brilliant beach taxi driver, who became a memorable part of the holiday.
The reception team were friendly, helpful and always available whenever we needed anything. There was plenty to do, the pools were lovely, and the whole resort had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
We hired a car during our stay and visited Zia and Kos Town, including a trip to the open-air cinema. While in Kos Town, we were also able to use the facilities and restaurant at the five-star Mitsis hotel, which was a fantastic added benefit.
Mitsis really does know how to look after its guests. We would heartily recommend Mitsis Family Village and would like to thank the whole team for making our family holiday so special.
Just returned from a fantastic family holiday we are a family of 6 on this trip ranging from 71 to 5 we all had a ball We had read reviews from recent visitors saying how great it was and we were not let down the location and views are second to none the hotel sits within a large complex of other MITSIS hotels we stayed at the Family village and the name says it all. Ok main points It is Very hilly and if you have issues walking it may not be for you that said the hotel does offer transport in buggies but you may have to wait a little Rooms are good maybe a little dated But spotlessly clean Food was great we had seen some negative reviews but you really must be hard to please if you can’t find something to tickle your taste buds spaghetti bolognaise on every day great for kids breakfast pancakes every day. The Greek night was fantastic. The restaurant is busy at times you are welcomed every meal time at the entrance by supervising staff and the executive chef at times peak times you have to queue and you are shown to your table this saves numerous people wandering around looking for a table (trust me it works) The Pool it’s salt water and with most in our experience Cold so beware there is a small pool for young ones that’s not salt water and the water slides pool a couple of minutes walk down hill fresh water but again Cold but Great fun Beach 5 minutes walk down hill you can use the hotel transport both ways or just going back (it’s much quicker) beach is shingle clean and the water crystal clear so many fish to see sun beds are free Entertainment team are great and work hard all day to make your holiday the Greek night is great starting with the food then the entertainment even the bar staff get involved But the best time every night is the Mini Disco this is were the Family bit comes in it’s great I am not a karaoke person but even these nights are great some great talent out there Pancakes and ice cream kids favourites all day everyday Staff what can we say they make the hotel what it is not just one or two All of them that said we have to mention Adriola Daniel Elona Aspasia What could be done to make it better a heated pool Would we go back Most Definitely thank you the Mitis Family Team
We've just got back from an amazing stay at the Mitsis Family Village in Kos. We stayed in a Superior Family room with shared pool, as per other reviews we totally agree that the rooms do need some attention. The views of the ocean and mountains from our room were exceptional, so some love and attention to the rooms would make the experience even better. The food was good, we especially loved the wood fired pizzas at lunch, there's always something that you like from the restaurant throughout the morning, lunch and evening meal times. My son really liked the bacon, he had this everyday throughout the 10 days. The entertainment team were great, we played water polo everyday, very competitive but in a friendly way. Peter and his team made it really fun! We spent time around the hotel pool, water slides and beach, we could always get a sunbed at the main pool without any issues. We especially liked the sunbeds at the back of the pool near the glass screen, whereby at the end of the day we could gaze across looking at the ocean enjoying the amazing cocktails. The beach is a short 5 min walk which didnt bother us at all, fresh pizzas and gyros on the beach were a hit, along with a few cocktails and beers. The only improvements from us would be; it would be great to have an area for lunch around the pool where you could grab a burger, pizza, etc without going in the restaurant. We also thought that the outside bar that opens at night would be worth opening throughout the day, seemed a waste. The last one would be, as we like the late afternoon sun to be able to spend time around the pool post 6pm.
Now onto a special mention to the 'Legend' that we called Thanasis. He is an absolute gem to the hotel, very passionate about making sure you are happy, having a great time and keeping you topped up with drinks. We had some great conversations, he gave us recommendations where to eat when we visited Kardemena which were spot on. The meals we had were amazing!! I don't usually shout out individuals, but he literally made our holiday and the whole family had a laugh with him. Thank you so much Thanasis you Legend!!
Overall, a really great holiday, the staff are all amazing, very clean hotel and staff work tirelessly to make your holiday special. Thank you so much! I've added a photo of us with the Legend Thanasis.
This is a pleasant family hotel, lacking in areas, be aware it’s certainly not 4*, that said our family a nice family holiday. The transfer from the airport was seamless and took 30 minutes. Check into the hotel and reception staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was high up towards the back of the complex, as mentioned on other reviews the complex is very hilly. Our room was a large family room, plenty of space however very dated with lots of dark wood and a large kitchen area which isn’t necessary as it’s not equipped and is a waste of space. The room was cleaned daily and always fresh clean towels left. The mini bar was well stocked with branded soft drinks. The bathroom had a shower over a narrow bath and dirty shower curtain which stuck to you each time you used the shower. The toilet seat was too small for the toilet basin, an odd sight! The hotel is on a large complex of Mitis hotels however the holiday village seemed like the poor relative, your not able to use any of the facilities on the other hotels. The hotel only has one restaurant, which you use for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there was always something to enjoy however the food was repetitive and not labeled! The dining room was very busy and loud, no areas to sit outside and enjoy your meal. There is no where different to eat lunch, no snack areas you have to go into the main dining room for lunch or walk to the beach. Sunbeds were never an issue and the pool with slides also had comfy beds a d beach too had plenty of comfy beds. The entertainment team work had during the day and our children enjoyed joining in with activities. Evening entertainment was ok too. The hotel isn’t a ‘short stroll’ to Karmedena like advertised. I imagine it’s about 5k to the town not walkable with young children. The staff at this hotel are 5* and go out of their way to be helpful and make recommendations. They are always friendly and ready to great you with a smile, a credit to Mitis.
