It was our 10th stay in this beautiful hotel. Great location, beautiful beach and plenty of restaurants. Amazing stuff. Worth to visit nearby Kardamaina village.

Good hotel would recommend

We stayed at Mitsis blue domes for 8 days, check in was very fast and we got given cold towels, drinks and free water bottles. The rooms were next to each other which was very helpful. The rooms could’ve had a but more space but were still big enough to move around in. The shower in the toilet room has a very bad drain and whenever you used it the hole bathroom was soaked so we resulted in using the bath shower which was quite narrow but wasn’t still good. The towels were changed daily and the cleaners were all very friendly. We used the buffet for breakfast and it was very nice and we used it for dinner as well. I think his name was yiannis but there was a man who greeted us every time we went into the restaurant he was so lovely. The only thing I noticed was that there was a not so nice lady being rude to another member of staff I’m. It sure if she was training her or not but it wasn’t nice to see. Apart from that all the food was good. The unlimited bowls/ fruit and the American street food and the dessert bar was also very nice and there was one man who made the desserts who was very nice. The pools were nice but it was noticeable that some were cleaner than others. Sunbeds were good, not plastic. The bars were nice but it was a long walk to get the drinks and when you finished then you had to bring them back otherwise the would blow away with the wind, I understand this isn’t a problem with the hotel. we got up at around 7 to put sunbeds down which isn’t the best but we do it anyway to ensure we have them for the day. The beach was a pebble and sand beach and there were lots of fish in the sea. We saw paragliding which seemed fun and there were scuba diving courses you could buy. The toilets were nice and the main lobby ones were cleaned very regularly. The entertainment at night was good but some nights were better than others. The only downside to the theatre was the smell there was constantly a big smell of drains. The were lots of places to sit and enjoy the entertainment though.

Honest review of Blue Domes

Expectations were high going in. Reviews were good and friends had recommended it, so I was expecting five star luxury throughout. Perhaps wrongly, what we got was closer to a four star and perhaps about unlucky with first room.

The Room Our first room was too small for three people with luggage. There was nowhere to put clothes or cases away. The drains around the toilet and shower were stained. Curtains were hanging off the rail and the balcony had bird mess on it. The bath was heavily marked. Nothing felt unclean, in fact I’d say very clean but worn and poorly maintained.

We were offered a room change on day two, but only at an extra charge. After raising it three times, they agreed to move us for free. The new room was better. Had we started there, I doubt I’d have noticed the wear as much.

The Blackout One night we had a power cut lasting just under two hours. When we called reception, we were answered sharply and told they were already trying to sort it out. I sleep with an oxygen machine, so this was more than an inconvenience for me. I stayed awake until power was restored and felt exhausted the next day as a result, just unfortunate coincidence I imagine but not great nonetheless.

Food and Drink The buffet ran three times a day. Fine for me, but repetitive, and my husband found the choices limited. Restaurant reservations were a real weak point: if you didn’t book before arriving, you were unlikely to get a table. Many guests didn’t realise this and ended up on the buffet by default, which felt like a poor system for a hotel at this price point.

Of the restaurants, the Italian was excellent, though service was inconsistent. Simple requests, like a sauce on the side, were often forgotten, and food sometimes went cold waiting on these corrections. The restaurants along the seafront were much better than those by the pools where we experienced wrong orders, care and attention lacking and food quality felt far better in the others. The ice cream parlour was regularly out of flavours, including vanilla. The beach gyros and the burgers and chips were both good but repetitive. Alcohol selection, including wine, was strong.

Facilities Sunbeds were available if you got there before 9am. After that, you were out of luck. The resort buggies were a useful way to get around and staff were happy to help if asked.

The water slides at the neighbouring hotel were fun and my daughter enjoyed them, but there were no lifeguards and no proper supervision. My husband stood at the bottom and I stood at the top the whole time. Children were coming down one after another with no gaps. It felt like an accident waiting to happen.

Other Notes Entertainment was mixed. Same singers some nights, just repackaged as different tribute acts. Fine, but I’ve had better elsewhere for less money. The entertainment where the kids discuss is just over the road by the shop and theatre style seating, plastic chairs in an outdoor area which lacks any level of atmospheric style or luxury. The shower room after check out, used on 30 minute slots, was left piled with towels all over the floor, bins overflowing. A quick check every couple of guests would have kept this manageable. The location, right at the far end of the resort, also made it impractical: a 10 minute walk each way without a buggy.

Guest relations staff were lovely. Weather was good, if windy, which is typical for the Greek islands. The complimentary beach bag was a nice touch.

I have stayed in far better hotels without IKOS prices. While the issues were not first world problems it really could have done better on many counts. I wouldn’t go back.
