Extremely disappointing experience – urgent intervention needed

I am writing this review on behalf of my daughter, who is currently staying at this hotel with her family. As her mother, it is heartbreaking to hear how distressed she has become during what should have been a relaxing family holiday.

My daughter is 32 weeks pregnant and has a disability. Their room has faulty air conditioning, a bath that does not work and a shower that floods the bathroom floor. Despite repeatedly raising these issues, they have struggled to get anything resolved.

Following an honest review of her experience, a hotel representative reportedly asked her to remove it, explaining that it was the end of the month and it would affect her commission. My daughter was later offered a nicer room at an additional cost of £1,100. This has left the family feeling extremely uncomfortable and unsupported.

Today, my daughter has been so unwell and distressed that she has spent the day in bed. Their room was not cleaned, the minibar was not restocked and, despite requesting water and arranging for food to be brought from the buffet because she was too unwell to go herself, the family was left waiting. My son-in-law collected the food, but staff took it from him, saying they would deliver it to the room. He also requested cutlery and for the minibar to be restocked. After an hour and five phone calls, nothing had arrived. My daughter eventually called reception in tears.

As a mother, it is heartbreaking to hear your daughter crying on holiday because she feels ignored and unsupported, particularly when she is heavily pregnant and unwell.

I cannot know whether this treatment is connected to her negative review, but the timing of events has understandably left the family questioning whether they are being treated differently for speaking honestly about their experience.

They have stayed at five Mitsis hotels previously, which is why this experience is so disappointing. Nobody expects everything to be perfect, but basic facilities, cleanliness, communication and compassion should be a given.

I am asking Mitsis senior management to intervene urgently, ensure the family is provided with clean and suitable accommodation with functioning bathroom facilities and air conditioning, and make sure their basic needs are met without them having to make repeated phone calls. Given the distress and disruption they have experienced, I also believe appropriate compensation or the option to leave the hotel without financial penalty should be considered.

This is a holiday costing thousands of pounds, and the family should not have to spend it fighting for basic standards of care. I sincerely hope someone takes responsibility and resolves this situation before the remainder of their holiday is ruined.
