My husband and I stayed here for a short period of around 4 nights. Great big spacious resort with a great choice of pools and sunbeds. Really good service in the restaurants including the à la carte ones, with staff on point ensuring we had everything we needed and always polite. However, the service in the pool bar could be much better - sometimes it felt like we couldn’t get the drinks we had wanted, either due to stock shortage or just because they were too busy to deal with the demand and preferred not make cocktails that would take time. Found the lack of poolside service odd too, some mornings we would get them and others we would not. Our room was spacious and comfortable though with efficient room service ensuring our rooms were cleaned and tidied on a daily basis and the free mini bar replenished. The American snack bar and sweet treat corner are a great touch too. Overall a nice stay with a couple of small issues.
We enjoyed the first night of our holiday in the Greek restaurant, we had a fantastic server called Enis who really made the night. He was very good at his job, recommended some fantastic wine and just made us feel so welcomed. This has been the perfect start to our holiday.
Had a great time at the destination Greek restaurant, which was the best restaurant of the trip. Food and service were excellent - thank you to Enis for his wine recommendations!
This was our 4th visit to this resort and always around the end of August into September. This time we took our daughter & her fiance. We'd booked our usual room with a private pool for us, and a sea view room above us in the same block. Our daughter's disability (EDS + recovering from cancer) meant that their allocated room on the 2nd floor wasn't ideal. We thought there was a lift in the block and there is, but it didn't go to the 2nd floor. I popped back to reception to ask if I could upgrade them to the same type of room that we had, but unfortunately non were available. However, an hour later I got a call to say a 2bed/2bath seafront villa with large private pool was available and they would upgrade us for free! I paid €5,500pw for our 2 rooms, the villa costs €11,500pw. What an upgrade and what service. We ate at all 7 a la carte restaurants which we'd booked months before. This year, the food in every single one of them was excellent. We ate breakfast in the buffet restaurant which was ok. However the lovely staff were run off their feet and a couple of times I had to go up and request to be served as we'd waited over 5 minutes. Not ideal but as I said, they were lovely, just overworked. We went to the Abba entertainment event one evening. Otherwise we all usually went back to the villa and played cards. Negative points - The restocking of teabags/coffee/sugar etc was pretty poor. I know it was a free upgrade but we'd still paid €5,500 to be there and it should be done daily with all items on the tray being replenished. It wasn't until our last day that the hot tub was cleaned out and refilled. The painting in all areas leaves a lot to be desired, especially for a 5* resort. In some places it looks like a 5yr old has done it! The management responsible for this need to keep a better eye on what is being done. Positive points - All the staff are lovely, helpful when needed and smart in their appearance. Mondi & Jimmy (the guys that bring drinks around to your poolside), and the guy in the pancake hut (known him since 2013 and still don't know his name!) are especially worth a mention, as is Stamatia, although we didn't see her much this time around. The A la Carte Restaurants are fabulous. The location and backdrop are stunning. The Gyro bar on the beach is brilliant and the 2 guys there work so hard in hot conditions. The resort is kept immaculately clean and tidy, grass perfectly cut etc. Will we go back? Definitely, but not next year as the children (23 & 25yr old students at Edinburgh Uni) want to holiday with us again, so we will do something/somewhere different. I actually feel quite sad that we'll be missing out a year (2013, 2024, 2025 & 2026). However, my wife and I very much look forward to returning there in 2028.
Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. We had a lovely room near the pools and playground at the top of the resort. Mini bar was stocked daily and rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily also.
Alacarte restaurants were amazing and Buffet food was also very good.
A few observations on what could be improved:
Air con in the room would not turn off when we arrived, but was fixed swiftly when we reported it.
We like a coffee in the room before we go out for the night. Unfortunately the cups were not washed/replaced in the room, so we had to wash them every day. Also the coffee and milk were not replenished. We did mention this and the hotel brought coffee and a carton of milk relatively quickly, so no real problem for the rest of the stay.
My personal biggest gripe was at Sweet corner - they could have 1 person serving cakes (or let you help yourself, as you have to wait behind others who are having ice cream or having waffles/pancakes cooked. A bit annoying having to wait when you could easily be served quickly if you just want a cake. (The selection is fabulous, by the way).
Finally, just a few observations we found from the few times we were in the main restaurant.
Drinks service was slow in buffet restaurant and the staff were slow to clear used plates, and there were also times there were no glasses or bowls for the juice and cereals in the morning. I had to ask staff for them on more than on one occasion.
However, this is no reflection on the staff who all work extremely hard. Maybe just a couple more are needed here and there, for the size of the hotel.
Overall, a fantastic stay we all enjoyed which could have been slightly better with a few improvements, as mentioned above.
