Grand Blue Beach Hotel

Just returned from our holidays here. We had a lovely stay overall and there are definitely some really good things about this hotel.

The location is great. It’s about a 10-minute walk and you’re in Kardamena town, with plenty of shops to browse, bars and restaurants. 

The hotel itself was clean and our room was lovely, with amazing views.

The facilities are also very good, with three pool areas. One is by the main restaurant on the higher level of the complex, and the other two are on the lower level, with one of those being adults only. 

The staff absolutely could not be faulted. They work so hard and were always pleasant and helpful.

The only thing to be aware of is the uphill walk to the main restaurant. It can be quite hard going, especially in the heat. You can phone reception and ask for a lift though, as they have golf buggy-type vehicles which will take you up.

Now for the food. We’ve been on quite a few all-inclusive holidays, so we know the food can be a bit samey from night to night. Usually though, there’s enough choice and variety that you can have something different each evening. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. If I’d had my grandchildren with me, I have no doubt I would have needed to take them out to eat, as I know there would not have been enough variety to keep them happy.

Breakfast was plentiful and okay though.

The pool bar was handy if you didn’t want to make the walk up to the main restaurant for a quick snack, but the choice again, very limited. One day it was a bread roll with a burger, another day a frankfurter, and I think there were kebabs on another day. If you’re thinking you could just top it up with some chips, unfortunately there weren’t any. There was a chiller with ready-made sandwiches and small tubs of salad, plus cakes and ice cream.

The beach across the road from the hotel is very rocky, so probably not the best if you’re looking for a sandy beach.

There was a good choice of cocktails at the bars. I can’t really comment on the beers though as I don’t drink beer.

For getting around, you can get the local bus from Kardamena to Kos Town for €4.50 each way, although the journey takes just over an hour. Alternatively, the hotel runs a bus for €15 return. This is quicker, you’re guaranteed a seat and it’s air-conditioned, which is a big plus. The downside is that you only get around 4 hours in Kos Town before you have to be back on the bus, which may not be long enough for some people.

So, for us, the hotel itself, the room, pools, views, cleanliness and especially the staff were all great. The biggest let-down was definitely the food and lack of variety. With better food choices, we would have had very little to complain about.

Would I stay here again? Yes, I probably would, but I’d definitely take the food into consideration when booking. Apart from that, we had a really enjoyable holiday and there were plenty of things we liked about the hotel.

Stayed over for 5 nights in July. Friendly staff,great fresh food,the actual 5 start service from check in to check out. Definitely recommend and will go back again.

An Amazing Holiday – Outstanding Service, Beautiful Resort and Wonderful Food!

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Grand Blue Beach Hotel, and we can honestly say that we enjoyed every moment of our stay.

The resort exceeded our expectations in so many ways, and we would like to thank the entire team for making our holiday and our first wedding anniversary so special.

The Resort, Location and Room The resort is absolutely beautiful, with stunning grounds, beautifully maintained gardens and an absolutely phenomenal sea view. The surroundings are breathtaking, and the entire resort looks clean, elegant and very well maintained. The pools, gardens and buildings are beautifully laid out, creating a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.

Our room, number 247, was excellent. It was spacious, comfortable and offered a beautiful view. The room was cleaned more frequently than every other day, and we were genuinely impressed by the attention to detail. Everything was always spotless and looked fantastic. A big thank you to the housekeeping team for their excellent work and care.

Food and Restaurants

As a former chef, I pay particular attention to the quality, preparation, flavour and presentation of food. I have to say that the food at Grand Blue was the best we have experienced at any hotel we have stayed in. The buffet offered a good variety, with different themes throughout the week, including Asian cuisine, barbecue, Greek specialities and seafood. The food was consistently well seasoned and full of flavour, with delicious sauces and dressings.

The salads were fresh, crisp and very tasty. The chicken on the bone was particularly tender and juicy, and all the meat and fish we tried were moist, tender and never dried out. The fresh baguettes were delicious, and the breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection of both savoury and sweet options.

For a buffet restaurant, the food was served at a very good temperature. The buffet and restaurant areas were kept clean and tidy, and dishes were replenished promptly. These details make a real difference and reflect the hard work and professionalism of the kitchen and restaurant teams.

Drinks, Bars and Staff

The drinks were excellent, with delicious cocktails and a good selection. The bartenders were always friendly, welcoming and fun, which made spending time at the bars even more enjoyable.

The reception team also deserves special recognition. The receptionists were always friendly, helpful and professional, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble.

We would especially like to thank the team for helping us celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We returned to our room to find a beautifully decorated, romantic bed with lovely towel swans, rose petals, fresh fruit and a bottle of wine. It was such a thoughtful and beautiful surprise, and it made our special day even more memorable.

A Special Thank You to Giorgos

Last but certainly not least, we would like to give a very special thank you to our wonderful restaurant waiter, GIORGOS!

He is such a lovely, friendly, funny and genuinely kind person. His warmth, hospitality and excellent service made our dining experiences even more enjoyable. We built a lovely connection with him during our stay, and we will genuinely miss seeing him every evening.

Thank you also to Nikos at the bar/reception and to all the other wonderful staff members who made us feel so welcome throughout our holiday. Every member of the team contributed to making this such a special experience, and we truly appreciate all the effort and care that went into making our stay unforgettable.

Final Thoughts

Grand Blue Beach Hotel is a beautiful resort with phenomenal views, excellent food, wonderful staff and outstanding hospitality. We have stayed at several hotels in the past, but this has been our favourite hotel experience so far. We leave with wonderful memories, especially of our first wedding anniversary, and we would absolutely love to return in the future. A heartfelt thank you to the management and the entire team for everything you have done. Keep up the fantastic work!
