Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The staff are consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful, the food is of a good quality with plenty of variety, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the view from the infinity pool across the Aegean towards Turkey is simply magical. The setting alone makes this a very memorable place to stay.
However, one aspect of the all-inclusive package came as a genuine surprise. At lunchtime in the Mediterranean Restaurant, I ordered a burger only to be told that it would cost an additional €12. The hotel caters for both all-inclusive and non-all-inclusive guests, so I fully understand why menu prices are displayed for those who are paying as they go. What I found unexpected was that, despite having paid for the all-inclusive package, some lunchtime menu items still incurred an extra charge. In all the all-inclusive hotels I have stayed at previously, food served in the main restaurants has always been included, so this was not something I had anticipated. It certainly didn’t spoil an otherwise excellent stay, but it is worth knowing before you book if you expect all meals in the hotel’s restaurants to be covered by the all-inclusive package. One of the pleasures of an all-inclusive holiday is being able to stop thinking about money once you arrive, and this policy rather undermined that feeling.
We stayed from 7–14 July, when daytime temperatures were typically in the high twenties Celsius. Despite the warm weather, all of the pools - including the indoor spa pool - were surprisingly cold. The infinity pool is undoubtedly one of the resort’s best features, but for us it was simply too cold to enjoy for more than about ten minutes at a time.
On the recommendation of the hotel’s Guest Relations team, we also booked a day trip to the volcanic island of Nisyros, travelling by boat from Kardamena. The island itself is well worth visiting, but the excursion was disappointing. The boat was so overcrowded that some passengers had to sit on the stairs or stand for much of the journey, and the onboard toilet facilities were inadequate and poorly maintained. In addition, although we had paid for the excursion in full before departure, we were only told on arrival that there was a compulsory €5 per person admission charge to enter the volcano itself. As seeing the volcano is the principal reason for taking the trip, this additional charge should have been made clear at the time of booking.
Overall, this is a very good hotel with excellent staff, attractive surroundings and high-quality food. The few disappointments we experienced were relatively minor, but they did detract slightly from what could otherwise have been an exceptional all-inclusive holiday. A more generous interpretation of “all-inclusive”, together with greater transparency over recommended excursions, would elevate the guest experience from very good to truly outstanding.
Absolutely incredible hotel, the staff are attentive and polite at all times! Our cleaner Georgia was amazing and cleaned our room perfectly every day. Perfect stay and we can’t wait to come back ❤️
Overall, we had a generally pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were comfortable, the hotel was clean, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The overall atmosphere made for an enjoyable holiday. However, there were several areas that significantly detracted from the experience. The entertainment was very limited, and what was provided was of a poor standard. For a hotel of this type, we expected a much better variety and quality of evening entertainment. Another disappointment was the lack of adequate showering and changing facilities for guests after check-out. This is an important service for those with late departures, and the facilities provided were simply not sufficient. The biggest issue, however, was our interaction with one member of staff. She was extremely rude, unaccommodating, and made us feel very unwelcome. Most concerning was that she openly discussed us with her colleagues within earshot and appeared to encourage them not to serve or assist us. This was highly unprofessional and left a very negative impression, especially as the rest of the staff were courteous.
While we enjoyed many aspects of our stay, these issues prevented the hotel from providing the level of service we had expected. With improvements to the entertainment, better post-check-out facilities, and a stronger focus on professional customer service from all staff, this could be an excellent place to stay.
We loved everything about this hotel: the incredible infinity pool with the most amazing view; the fun swim-up bar; the deep mattress-like lazy sunbeds; superb room shower; super comfy bed, the aqua aerobics; and of course, the huge selection of fresh and tasty food served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Huge congratulations and thank you to every member of the hard working team of staff for making Michelangelo Hotel one of the best.
We have just returned from an amazing 11-night stay at Michelangelo Resort & Spa, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better holiday.
The hotel is beautiful, with stunning views, excellent facilities, and delicious food. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely wanted to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
A very special thank you goes to the sous-chef, who went above and beyond to help me navigate my gluten-free diet. At every single meal, he was there to explain what I could eat, answer my questions, and make sure I had plenty of delicious options. Travelling with dietary requirements can sometimes be stressful, but he made it completely worry-free. His kindness, knowledge, and dedication made such a difference to my holiday, and I can’t thank him enough.
Another huge thank you goes to Victoria in the Kids Club. She is an absolute credit to the hotel. She was kind, caring, patient, and incredible with the children. Our daughter wanted to come to the Kids Club every single day because she made it so much fun. Victoria has such a natural way with children, making every child feel welcome and included. Michelangelo Resort & Spa is incredibly lucky to have someone as passionate and dedicated as her.
Thank you to everyone at Michelangelo Resort & Spa for making our stay so memorable. We left with wonderful memories and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Kos. We hope to return again in the future!
