The hotel has a great location in the southeast of the Greek island of Cephalonia in the Ionian Sea, offering panoramic views and easy access to the famous Skala beach and resort. The surrounding beaches are superb, and the hotel is just 2 km from the pretty village of Skala with its restaurants, bars, pubs and nightspots, as well as links to the local public transport network and shopping venues, and 7 km from the traditional village of Poros, both worth visiting. Guests can discover the sandy vastness and shallow waters of Mounda Beach (4 km away), which is the reproduction habitat of the loggerhead turtle Caretta Caretta.
Renovated in 2010, this 39-room beach hotel symbolises the Greek peoples' passage in time, history and place. From Greek mythology of the Asterides (stars), the hotel shines like a lighthouse on the gentle, rocky hillsides overlooking the Ionian Sea. It is a family-run hotel, ideal for families and adults looking for a relaxing holiday in a resplendent environment. The hotel lounge has plush sofas and a big-screen TV and also offers various leisure activities such as free Internet access and a small library. The hotel is family-friendly and features a kids' club, children's playground and gardens. In addition to a lobby area with 24-hour reception and check-out services, further facilities available to guests at this air-conditioned establishment include a safe and currency exchange, as well as a café, bar, games room, TV lounge and a restaurant. Moreover, guests can take advantage of the wireless Internet access and a cellar for storing bicycles. Those arriving by car may leave their vehicles in the hotel car park.

Excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff.
We had an amazing week at the Asteris hotel. The staff throughout the hotel go out of their way to help you and are so friendly. The pool is good and breakfast had a good selection of fresh food. The bar was open until late and had good range of drinks. The down side was that I had not realised how far it was to the town centre but we used the shuttle bus provided by the hoteland public buses to get around. If the shuttle bus was fully booked then extra journeys were arranged. There is a little bay below the neighbouring hotel which was good to swim in. We would return to this hotel as it was a relaxing stay and the rooms were modern with balconies facing the sea and a kettle and fridge which is always good. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely hotel with fabulous views.
Lovely hotel. Lovely staff. Is a bit outside of the resort but a shuttle bus is provided.
Almost Perfect...
We stayed here recently and opted for B&B choosing a kitchenette room for the convenience of having basic lunches in our room.
I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for a few niggles but first the positives;
- Rooms are cleaned and fresh towels provided on a daily basis
- Staff are all excellent from Anastasia and Ireni on the bar, to the reception ladies and breakfast staff
- Common parts are clean and well laid out
- Breakfast was buffet style and catered for everything you would want (also a nice touch; they give boxes for takeaway if you have an excursion or early departure)
- As people have mentioned the hotel provide a shuttle bus to town for a reasonable €1 each way
- Complimentary towel provided for the pool
Niggles;
- The over bath shower was essentially a tap fitting attached to the wall which was fixed at about 5 foot above the bath, I had to duck down under it to wash hair and rinse
- The kitchen equipment in the room was extremely basic, no frying pan, no spatula, no toaster
- All the places I have stayed over recent years do not tolerate towel covered empty sunbeds, alas not at Asteris. Beds regularly covered at breakfast with no people in sight for hours.
Overall a good reasonably priced hotel on a lovely island.

Amazing hotel
Amazing hotel with amazing staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Anastasia is amazing on the bar always has a smile and gives the best hugs. Rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels and free towels to use around the pool. Never an issue to get a sunbed round the pool even in peak season. Excellent shuttle bus service into the town. Amazing views from hotel room. Said we would never book the same place twice but in the process of booking again for next year.

Really lovely hotel, definitely worth a visit.
We first visited Asteris 20 years ago and we loved it then, so we returned with our son and wife along with our two grandsons. After I had booked I must admit I was a bit worried as it was so quiet when we first visited , would our grandsons like it, would they be bored? We should not have worried they loved it, the hotel has changed its busier now but the friendly welcome and the beautiful surroundings are unchanged. Fresh linen every day, beautifully clean accomodation and really good breakfasts. One thing is certain we wont be leaving it 20 years before our next visit. Its outside of the main Skala area but its worth using the minibus to get to the town and back. The area is quiet at night so a good nights sleep is virtually guaranteed. This hotel is a real gem.
