- Apostolata Island Resort and Spa

This fantastic beach resort is nestled on a hill and provides its guests with amazing panoramic sea views. Located on the east coast of Kefalonia, the hotel is secluded form the main vibrant areas of Skala town, 3km from the premises. A number of local bars and restaurants are reachable within walking distance. Argostoli, is approximately 37 km away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Unfortunately this hotels seems to have suffered desperately from The make money give poor service epidemic that seems to be sweeping the Greek islands. This is not a 5 or even a 4 start establishment. At a push it’s a 3. I do not expect to see signs such as ‘before you ask me have you thought about it’ in a hotel. This makes me think it’s a toxic work environment. Now for the review- your hotel rooms are dirty, hire more Cleaners, your reception staff are rude, Teach them Customer service, a QR code is not going to cut it for the price I paid. For 5* my towels and sheets are changed daily, if it’s three days it’s a three star. I should Not have to explain this to you. Your spa price is too high and you didn’t serve anything except pork or chicken in the entire 7 days. You are the 3 star at best. No map of the massive hotel And reception staff I felt I needed to pay to actually be awake. TUI, get rid of this hotel. They reflect very very badly on you as a travel company.
Visited for two weeks at end of June 2026.
Hotel check in. Check in was quick and friendly but the hotel rely on customers scanning a QR code for most hotel information you need. We were given a photocopied A4 piece of paper with some hotel information on which was unreadable as the hotel printer must of been low on ink which wasn’t ideal or very professional. Had to return to reception to get a safety deposit key, hotel pool towels and a second room key which the hotel should offer on initial check in so customers are not inconvenienced and reception staff are not making double the amount of workload.
Location of Hotel. About three miles from the centre of Skala. Courtesy bus during day. At night a taxi is about €8, reception will order. Taxi rank for coming back from town is on the main road in Skala adj to main square.(Looks like a bus stop). Difficult to get a taxi back to hotel after 1am.
Hotel is built on a cliff face. Lots of steps and steep climbs. Only a lift from restaurant to lobby and another from lobby up to al a carte restaurant. You can request the electric golf buggy to move luggage or if you find steps a struggle. The beach is a five minute walk down a very steep road. There is no sand its like a terrace with a few sun beds but there is some pool type steps for you to climb into the sea which is really nice.
Rooms- we were in room 701 which was very spacious and had a great view of the sea and you could see part of the pool. Comfy massive bed. Had kettle + TV, some of the furniture is a bit dated. Fresh bottle of water left every day. Not enough clothes hangers in wardrobe for two people but can request from more from reception. Lots of storage and drawers. Had two showers in the bathroom and a bath. Showers really good and powerful. Adequately sized bathroom. The sliding wooden bathroom door had no handle and was difficult to open.
Room cleaning- Room did get serviced every day but I don’t think the cleaner swept or mopped the room floor or patio in the two weeks we were there. Had to contact reception once as no replacement bathroom towels left but replacements were brought quickly once raised . Our room door was not shut properly on one occasion by the cleaner as I was putting the key into the lock the door opened. The door pulls to and should lock on the first catch but hadn’t. You need to turn the key to double lock but never was double locked. Patio doors left open by cleaner on numerous occasions as was the patio door in our neighbours room. Someone could climb over patio wall from adjoining rooms to access your room.
Restaurant- The service was hit and miss and clearly deteriorated towards the end of the holiday as the hotel got busier. In most hotels a waiter is allocated to a certain amount of tables. The waiters at this hotel didn’t appear to do this which caused confusion amongst the staff. Waiters often arguing amongst themselves and older men staff shouting and talking down to the younger staff. There was not enough staff on some evenings to provide a good service . Doesn’t help when the hotel management just stand there trying to look important and don’t help the waiting staff out when it’s flat out busy!! Total chaos felt sorry for the waiting staff.
The main issue is the drinks you order at evening meal in the main restaurant . When you order the drinks it was taking sometimes twenty mins for them to arrive at the table usually when you had finished your main course.
Food was varied and restaurant had different themed nights. Always plenty of choice but sometimes took time to replenish popular choices.
Main swimming pool. Nice big pool 1.40 m deep in most areas. Pool bar the drinks are ice heavy in small plastic glasses with small amounts of drink dispensed. The lady who worked in the pool bar worked hard but often got drink orders wrong and seemed more interested in her mobile phone. Pool food bar is excellent especially the freshly made pizzas and Ice cream/sorbet.
Enjoyed the holiday overall but needs a bit more effort to provide a better customer experience and iron out some of the poor service currently on offer and some areas require a small refurbishment to justify the current star rating.
We stayed here End June 2026. Fabulous hotel, great staff and tasty food. Can imagine if its busier might see some differences but it was hard to fault for us. Room was wonderful with fab view of pool/sea, not too busy, and all inclusive was one of the best we have had in Greece. Kefalonia is a lovely island. Word of warning, not for people with mobility issues and it is a distance from Scala and Poros, but this didn't bother us ! Good courtesy bus.
This hotel is fantastic, we came with our 2 year old Milo and the staff went out of there way to be kind to him. The breakfast and Dinner staff was lovely and the food was great there was plenty of choice each night. The pool is great with a special mention to Nikki the lifeguard who was a star on our holiday and always went out of her way to make sure Milo was OK in the pool and surrounding area she's a superstar! We spent a lot of time on the play area for children as my 2 year old loved it. The snack bar lady who wore white and did dinner service too was amazing and also so lovely to my son! Well done to all the staff. Our room was great and the shower was amazing! Thanks to the room cleaner lady who was lovely every morning and always did a great job. The views from our room was excellent could see the boats passing by on the sea all the time even sat on the bed. The bus from the hotel to Scala is great and the driver is lovely. Overall a fantastic hotel but the shining stars are the staff. Thank you all
We had a wonderful time visiting this resort for the first time. All of the staff were helpful and friendly.
I especially loved the young girl “Niki” at the swimming pool area. She was
an AWESOME Lifeguard and took care of Everyone young and old. It’s obvious that she loves her job. She took the time to help Everyone, young and old, at the pool area. The pool aerobics was so much fun. Niki made our stay here more enjoyable because she really cared for everyone.
It’s really hard to find dedicated people like Niki. We look forward to coming again. We wish you much success in the future.
