Amoessa Boutique

We recently returned from a week at the Amoessa Boutique Hotel in Polichrono. It’s located on the outskirts of the village somewhat set back from the road in, my opinion, not particularly picturesque surroundings. The family who run it are lovely though, very helpful and welcoming. The accommodation was spotless and our cleaner, who again was a lovely cheerful lady, came in every day. Breakfasts were very tasty, with an assortment of sweet and savoury choices but if you don’t like cheese, the savoury choices may be a little limited, and if all you want is an English cooked breakfast, then this place isn’t for you. I had upgraded our room from the ‘Design double room’ to the ‘Split level junior suite’ and to be honest I wish I hadn’t. The room itself, room 205, was smaller than it appeared in the pictures and with the wardrobe to the side of the sofa it made it a little awkward to access and there were no drawers. When I booked, I knew that the bed (which was lovely and comfy and big) was upstairs on a mezzanine level, but I didn’t notice that the bathroom was actually downstairs*, I assumed that was upstairs too, so I didn’t bank on having to come up and down that staircase a couple of times a night to use the ‘facilities’ (we’re at that age!). We ended up having to leave the staircase spotlights on all night so we weren’t fumbling around on that rather dodgy staircase in the dark, not ideal as this lit up the 'bed area' too. I’m surprised we got through the week without one of us ending up in a heap at the bottom. (*When I looked back at the hotel pictures this morning, it actually looks like my original, and cheaper room choice, has the bed and bathroom on the same level!). With regards to the bathroom, this one was small but perfectly formed and the shower was amazing, so a plus there. We’re not ‘sun worshipers’ as such but do like to spend a couple of hours by the pool in the morning before it gets too hot. This was not an option here though, the weather was lovely the entire week but the sun didn’t make it anywhere near the sunbeds round the pool until mid to late afternoon, and then only to one or 2 of them at a time so if someone else got there first, you’d had it. The sun also didn’t make it to our balcony (which overlooked someone's house), all a little disappointing. With regards to Polichrono itself, don’t come here after the end of September, we arrived on the 30th and already about half of the restaurants, bars and shops were closed for ‘Winter’ and more closed each day. I felt extremely sorry for people still arriving at the hotel the day before we left. We’ve been to other area’s of Greece and the Islands and I don't recall them closing up this early, such a shame as the weather was still lovely, blue skies and 26c on the day we left.

Had the most amazing time here staff are friendly and helpful and go above and beyond to give you the best experience, you are welcomed with welcome drinks and lots of information and where to go and how to make the best of your stay ! It was my birthday when I stayed and the staff set the most beautiful breakfast table for me with balloons and the most gorgeous flowers, they also sang happy birthday and brought out a lovely cake , I would highly recommend this beautiful establishment pedro and his family were the perfect hosts and the hotel is lovely 🥰
