fantastic—so kind, welcoming and genuinely unable to do enough for you. Everyone made such a fuss of our little girl, which was a huge plus for my wife and really made us feel at home. The hotel itself is very well maintained, with some lovely areas to relax in during the evening. At times, it genuinely felt like we were sitting in a beautiful rooftop bar overlooking the sea. The views are simply spectacular. The beach, although not private, is lovely, and the staff work extremely hard to keep everything running smoothly. The beach bar is also a great addition. You can enjoy soft drinks and beer as part of the all-inclusive package, although food and other drinks are charged separately. Personally, we think that’s perfectly reasonable—after all, it’s a 4-star hotel. As a little family, we had a fantastic time here. It was a relaxing, enjoyable holiday, and one that we’ll look back on and treasure for many years to come.
We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. Excellent location, spotless and very well-maintained, with outstanding service. The food was delicious with a great variety of choices. It was a wonderful experience in a peaceful and relaxing place.
We travelled with Jet2. The transfer was very long at over 2 1/2 hours each way with a vehicle change en route each way aswell. There's no Jet2 that visits the hotel. The room was clean and big enough for 3. We were located in the main building where the reception/restaurant is. There was a large wardrobe with a free safe. Air conditioning was good. The bathroom was large with a very powerful shower. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard. Sheets and towels were changed frequently. We had a large balcony with a table and two chairs. There was also a pull out washing rack to dry wet clothes/towels. The hotel was located on a hill next to the beach. There is a walk way over the road that takes you down to the beach. The beach is sand and pebbles. There are some large rocks as you enter the sea but it them becomes sandy. The water is crystal clear. There's a beach bar that serves soft drinks and beer. They do serve food but you have to pay for this. I would recommend beach shoes. The food was good/tasty but not really to my taste. Saying that we never went hungry. There was always fresh bread, batches, salad and cheese. There is also a kids section that always has chips. The soft drinks tasted fine, there were some pre mixed cocktails available which were ok. There wasn't a great choice of spirits. For example one cocktail had peach schnapps in it but when asked if I could have peach schnapps and lemonade it wasn't available unless you paid. This part of the all inclusive let it down along with the fact there was never any snacks available. This wasn't a problem for me but travelling with kids that are always hungry caused issues. I think a snack bar serving something like chips, burgers and pizza would be a good addition to the hotel. The pool was always clean and there was a lifeguard on duty. The large pool was deep with the shallow end being 1.40 deep. Theres steps and ladders to get into the pool. There is a smaller pool for children which was shallower. The pool bar again serves food but you have to pay for it. Overall a good holiday but I feel there could be a few improvements made to the all inclusive aspect.
It was a long transfer and as stated in the brochure guests were transferred part way through the journey. All in all it works out around 2 hours which when added to the flight etc is a long day.
Beautiful location overlooking the sea. Beach is sand and pebbles so beach shoes required. I found it quite littered and quite dirty. The sea however was crystal clear.
As a solo traveller I contacted the hotel direct requesting a sea view. When I arrived they had obliged which was a nice touch. However, the room was very small and dated, furniture was damaged and it needed a total upgrade. The aircon was so noisy I couldn't use it. They sent a maintenance man 3 times but the unit was so old it was clear it needed a replacement. It had a small balcony which was not private, I was overlooked by other balcanies and guests could see right into my room. The shower worked fine but as said, it needed a total refurb. If you didn't control the water pressure in the shower it washed your clothes in the wardrobe! Bed though, no complaints.
The space around the pool was smashing. Lots of sunbeds which were very comfortable and plenty space inbetween. The pool was beautiful to look at but not fit for purpose. If you (like me) like to stand and have a conversation or just cool off that was a no, no. You had to be able to swim to use the pool. Far too deep and certainly not disabled friendly. Steps down into the pool were always congested with people just wanting to cool off. The pool is so big it could be halved and a more realistic pool for aerobics etc built. It is a child friendly hotel and the hotel had clearly thought about this as there was a clear area for children and families to relax and enjoy and a childrens pool.
Food isn't the best I've had in an AI but I didn't go hungry. It would have been nice to see more seafood choices (not awful boney fish) on the menu. Pork was used during my 9 night stay far too much. Labelling of food could have been better as could temperature (although microwaves are available). A menu outside of the restaurant informing people of what to expect food wise would be a great addition too.
I can't really comment on the cocktails or spirits as I didn't drink any of these but the rose wine was very palatable. I took my own thermos cup which the guys at the pool bar were happy to fill with iced water during the day so that was a bonus too (guess they'd have filled it with rose wine had I asked). One thing I would point out is food was served at the pool bar if you paid for it. The beach bar served AI food and I think too the Pool bar should at lunch time as not everyone wants to make their way to the restaurant to eat.
I turn now to Jet2 and lack of a representative (at all) during my stay. Please Jet2 clearly state this before a person books. I had a real problem in that the day after my arrival my phone suffered a hardware issue. Stella (lady on reception) helped the best way she could and ordered me a taxi to the nearest town who could take a look at the phone. This cost me 25 euros each way but I felt safe with the English speaking cab driver. Unfortunately my phone could not be fixed and I therefore had no form of communication to ring Jet2 - I basically had to wing my way through the whole holiday. As I was travelling solo it spoiled it for me to some extent as I became totally hotel based not having the backup of a phone. I did make it home but felt truly let down by the lack of a rep at the resort. I did however meet a lovely couple from Saddleworth from the UK and following their departure a sister duo from Kent who also took me under their wing - thank you to you all.
Would I return - no. Very few English people holiday here and most of the staff have trouble communicating (even in the restaurant). It was clear this hotel was used by Greek locals as dogs are allowed at the hotel. Other nationalities were also present.
Management are always walking around checking areas and ensuring people are happy and okay which, for the most part is the case. I guess my stay may have been better had my phone not gone into total meltdown!
When you do arrive check out the notice boards for what is happening around the hotel. The animation team do not pester you whilst you are around the pool so if you don't look at the notice board you'll have no idea of what is happening on a daily basis. This is the same for evening entertainment.
Great shop also on site for water and other snacks if you want to buy some to put in the mini fridge in the room.
I hope you enjoy your stay should you choose to book.
Our stay at Akrathos Beach Hotel was truly wonderful, and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the entire team for making our vacation so special.
First of all, the cleanliness throughout the hotel was absolutely impeccable. Every area was spotless, and it was clear that great care is taken to maintain the highest standards.
The reception team was outstanding – always welcoming, professional, smiling, and ready to help with anything we needed. They made us feel at home from the very first moment.
A special thank you goes to the animation team. They made our children feel happy, safe, and included every single day. Our kids enjoyed every activity so much that they said this was the best vacation they’ve ever had! As parents, there is no greater compliment than that.
The golf cart drivers were incredibly kind, always available when needed, and greeted everyone with a smile. Their friendliness made getting around the resort even more enjoyable.
The beach bar staff were amazing – always cheerful, helpful, and incredibly hardworking. They are one of the reasons everything runs so smoothly.
The restaurant staff deserve huge praise as well. They work like busy bees, yet they never stop smiling or being kind to the guests. The food was delicious every single day, so congratulations and many thanks to the chefs for their excellent work.
Even the evening bar, despite being very busy, was managed perfectly. The bartenders and servers worked tirelessly, making sure guests never felt the pressure of the crowd.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making our family holiday so memorable. It is the people who make a hotel truly special, and your team is exceptional.
A very special greeting to Katarina and Eduardo – you are truly the heart of this hotel. ❤️
We hope to see you again very soon!
