- Maritimo Beach Hotel

The picturesque natural harbour of Sissi, is less than 100 meters from the hotel. The tourist resorts of Hersonissos and Malia with their archaeological sites are to the west of the hotel, while to the east guests will find another popular resort, Agios Nikolaos. The establishment consists of 9 traditional buildings scattered across beautifully manicured gardens. In this wonderful setting of green lawns accented by picturesque arrangements of shrubbery, guests can enjoy all the beauties of nature. Visitors can take a refreshing dip in the large outdoor pool, surrounded by lounge chairs ready to welcome sunbathers. After a day of aquatic fun, guests can enjoy a night of lively entertainment. The hotel regularly hosts Greek nights with folk dancing. Guests are invited to dine on the terrace where they can choose from international, Greek and Cretan cuisine.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The spa was excellent. I booked a very good massage and facial with Vicky. Sofia from the spa was very kind and she gave all the right informations.
The place is nice, close to the sea in a quiet town, and the massages at the Aegeo spa are GREAT. So are the workers.
Sofia at the spa reception helped us to manage a rental car repair while Vicky was taking care of us in a royal way (If usually you are disapointed when asking for a strong massage, here you will be happy).
I'm not often writing reviews, but this massage deserve 5 stars. And overall the hotel is very cool, good food and nice people.
Altogether, I had an amazing experience at maritimo beach hotel, the staff was very friendly, shout out to Athena at the pool bar, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. As a family who have just had two bad holidays in the last two years, this stay ended the cycle. I loved every second of it. Yet, there are some mistakes in this hotel as shown below;
Pros: •The pool bar has amazing drinks and snacks, it is very welcoming •There are two pools, as a family we stayed at the quiet smaller of the two pools instead of the larger one for reasons in the cons list, but I do regret our choice as the smaller pool was lovely •The food was delicious and coffee is served every morning by staff walking around and refilling/serving it to you •The area is amazing and me and my family went to the cactus pub, a nearby bar, nearly every night •All in all, a great hotel
Cons: •The largest issue was the shower, it was a game of hot and cool as every five seconds, it changes from scolding hot to freezing cold, NOT a nice experience •The biggest pool was very cramped in regards to the sun loungers. Everyone is packed in like sardines •Another guest took off another family’s towels from the sun beds while they were gone. The family was very sad as they had 2 little children who didn’t understand why their towels were gone. Instead of dealing with it by talking to the couple who took the sun loungers and giving repercussions, they just brought more sun loungers that where uncomfortable, and moved them to a different spot and they didn’t even have enough for them, luckily another family kindly gave up one of their own sun loungers. The couple was given no consequences.
I loved this hotel and would have had a 5 star experience, but their was a few cons to my stay, I loved it and will miss it, and even though there was cons, I would highly recommend it.
I have been to Crete many times but never Sissi, after the demise in quality of all inclusive holidays my family and I decided to try this hotel and the half board package.
This hotel was everything we hoped it would be.
We booked a superior room and do not think wr got this but it was big enough for what we needed it for. The beds were very comfortable, AC was strong and there was plenty of luggage space. Only negative was the shower which would alternate between very hot and icy cold and every temp in between, however a small negative.
The food at breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and lots being freshly made throughout. The pancakes were fantastic, as was the constant coffee refills from the staff.
The staff in the restaurant at both meal times were amazing, so friendly and nice, a breath of fresh air after other hotels we have visited.
The food in the evening was varied, tasty and always hot. Really very good. A tip is to get the outside eating area as the main room gets very hot.
Athena at the pool bar was always friendly, was lovely to my family and great for advice on the local area and travel.
Fresh pool towels every day is a nice touch too.
My only gripe and it is a small one is no room is provided to shower. you check out at 11 and the only place to shower for late departures is the public bathroom by the smaller pool.
The small pool area was perfect for us, only about 30 sun loungers and not too hectic, the main pool area seemed a bit crammed in like sardines.
I would definitely visit here again. The building work at nearby hotels does not cause any issue and this is a very peaceful place to visit
I had a lovely Back, Neck and Shoulder massage with Vicky, who was friendly and professional at the Aegeo Spa. I visited after being given a special offer for this treatment, which was too good to refuse. I left feeling relaxed and calm. I would recommend a visit to the spa whilst staying at the Maritimo
