Nautilux Rethymno

We stayed here in September for our honeymoon for 9 nights on a full board basis. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome. The hotel was spotless and feels luxurious. We had a patio room with hot tub and absolutely loved our room. The room was huge!! The hot tub did take a long time to heat up and you would need to put it on early in the morning if you wanted to use it late afternoon/evening. We paid extra for balloons when we arrived and they were absolutely lovely, exceeded our expectations! The food at the hotel was amazing! Especially lunch, the flavour and presentation was out of this world! The pool area was lovely and clean and we never struggled to get a sun bed. Only criticism we had was that waiters didn’t often come round the pool area asking if you wanted drinks during the day, we would often have to go up to the bar ourselves. One thing we felt massively let down the hotel was the entertainment. I understand that it is a luxury 5 star hotel but we have previously stayed in 5 star hotels who had amazing entertainment. During the day, in the 10 days we were there, only once did they do water aerobics and that was all that happened in the pool area. Previous hotels have had water polo, darts etc which we always feel brings guests together and builds relationships. This is the first hotel we didn’t make any friends because no one had a chance or reason to interact. Evening entertainment was also disappointing. One band were there twice in our time at the hotel and did the exact same set with the exact same songs and comments about each song? Would be nice for acrobats, magicians, singers who get people up and dancing etc. the entertainment was just very flat and sorry to say, boring. Most nights you’d have a maximum of 5 groups watching the entertainment. One night a band had an hour left and no one was there watching them.. we felt so bad for them. We both had a couple of days where we felt ill and heard other guests were ill too. I understand when people from different countries are coming together and travelling it is expected that germs spread but I did find it surprising you weren’t made to use hand sanitiser going into breakfast and dinner which are buffets. When we’ve been to other hotels where there are always hand sanitiser stations round the hotel in many places and also every time you go into and leave the buffet. I feel this should be implemented to prevent the spread of germs. One morning we did a spa session which was really really lovely. We had a private room with a sauna, steam room etc followed by a message, this was absolutely lovely! We had a private dinner next to the beach one night which we paid extra for, the food was so luxurious and felt special and a level up from the regular food you get at the hotel. All the staff at the hotel were very attentive and friendly, special shoutout to Yota, Perakis and Zana who we felt went above and beyond. Felt like family to us. The hotel as a whole is unbelievable and we feel if a couple of tweeks were made, it would be 10/10. At this time we would probably rate in 9.3/10. A bit of hand sanitiser and change in entertainment would make the world of difference.

My wife and I stayed for 8 nights at Nautilux Hotel Rethymnon. We had booked a Verdant Room which was of a good size and well equipped. Comfortable bed and good shower, which I always think are of prime importance for any hotel. Room was well equipped and serviced daily as well as a 2nd check over in the evening. Bottled water was provided in the room and the hotel were quite generous with how much was provided. Apart from breakfast we did not eat in the hotel The breakfast spread was quite impressive, with a good range of hot and cold items. They always had a nice choice of fresh breads and pastries. The weather was pretty poor during our stay, but on the couple of days we were able to sit by the pool there were adequate sun beds/umbrellas available. There was also an area on the beach with sun beds, etc specifically for the hotel. There are numerous local tavernas, within a couple of minutes of the hotel and we tried a few of these and they offer a good standard of food, with cheerful service. We walked into Rethymnon most days, which is an interesting old city, lots of history, lovely little shops and plenty of dining options. It took us about 30 minutes each way to walk from the hotel. Overall we were very happy with our choice of hotel. The hotel offers everything you need with good quality accommodation and an ideal location. All of the staff we interacted with during our stay were lovely and a credit to the hotel. If we did choose to go back to Rethymnon, we would almost certainly stay again at Nautilux.
