My wife and I have just recently returned from a trip to Ikones Suites in Crete. We had a wonderful holiday, the staff were fantastic especially Demetriou and his team on the beach, Yiannis and Ilva in the restaurant and our housekeeper Irena. The hotel is lovely, with the beach just across the road with very comfotable sunbeds. The food was very nice and the Greek pizza that we had on the beach was excellent. The rooms were kept very clean and tidy by Irena with the towels beautifully arranged on our beds each day. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who made our stay so special. We loved it so much that we will return again.
We just got back from a wonderful stay at Ikones Seafront Luxury Suites, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The hotel itself is lovely, the food is excellent, and watching the sunset from the beach is nothing short of magical. The "private beach" dinner was a particular highlight — genuinely one of the most memorable evenings of the whole trip.
But what I most want to share is how the staff treated us when things went wrong. On the very day we were due to fly home, our airline cancelled our flight. They were impossible to reach, and our travel agency had no on-call service on a Sunday, so we suddenly found ourselves stranded with no clear way forward.
The hotel stepped in without hesitation. They extended our room by two hours while we tried to sort things out, and they got on the phone to chase information on our behalf. Once we were rebooked onto a flight the next day, they let us keep the same room for an extra night at a very fair price, half board included.
They didn't stop there. They arranged our transport to the airport for the new flight, and because our departure was well before breakfast service, they prepared a breakfast basket for us to take along. They even wrote a letter describing exactly what had happened, which I could pass on to my insurance and the airline.
A great hotel is easy to find when everything goes to plan. A hotel that looks after you when your plans fall apart is rare — and that's exactly what Ikones did for us. We left grateful, and we'll be back.
Beautiful hotel with super friendly staff. Food was exceptional. Room fabulous with private pool. Special thanks to Eirini for booking it for us. Housekeeping outstanding. Fantastic massage. Lovely beach with comfy sunbeds ( chargeable). Only downside was the small pool which unfortunately we didn't get to use as the beds were occupied whenever we tried to go. Great area for walking to harbour and old town. (About 35 minutes) Would totally recommend
Crete is a beautiful place . Ikones Seafront Luxury Suites is a very beautiful high standard hotel. So clean and smells wonderful. We had a swim up room and loved it . All staff are so lovely and friendly and so helpful. The food is delicious. Great selection. They have entertainment in the evening which we loved . Highly recommend 👌
Had a fabulous stay in an exemplar of a Greek 5 Star Hotel. The hotel is spotless, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is close to Rethymno town, but far enough away to ensure tranquility. Quite an up and coming trendy area. Age profile is mixed, but of course as an adult only hotel its peaceful with little noise beyond the occasional entertainment. Our room was at one end with not a great view, you could make out the sea but that didnt bother us as we spent no time on the balcony. If we'd booked sooner I would go for the front sea facing room.
Highlights: Beach is just across the road with great service. Some staff we found went above and beyond to be helpful, friendly and sincere professionals: Elena and Babis in the Hotel Bar were full of positive energy with a very professional but fun manner, Kristina the Cleaner kept the room in exceptionally clean condition everyday, On the beach the service was great, Dimitrious and Georgious were standouts. In the Aura restaurant, Erikka brought a Michelin level of service to our dining at the dining concept. She knows her stuff, very warm welcome, impeccable service, stayed close by but not too close.
Key tips:
The beach is €7 a bed but that is offset against anything you purchase whilst on the beach.
Dining - we were half board and bear in mind the restaurant is Buffet self service, with table service for drinks, but it is very well managed and run.
I would HIGHLY recommend you try the Aura restaurant next door (if youre on half board you get 20% off). It is a hidden gem. For the best food and service you must try this place. It seems popular with locals, it's right next door to the hotel in an idyllic setting overlooking the sea where you can watch the sun set over the mountains. Without doubt the best food we have experienced in Crete. If you want a special food and experience try it! Also surprisingly good value with a very nice wine list.
Night mask - bring one for your eyes if you like to sleep in complete darkness(see curtain comments below)
Room for improvement: Little to say here, but a few aspects: Black out curtains in the room dont go to the edge of both sides due to the way they are fitted. Night entertainment - a mixed bunch, some great , some not so great
