The beach hotel is located along the promenade in the eastern part of Rethymnon town. This city hotel is decorated in a modern style and offers a pleasant ambience, ideal for young people and couples. Guests are offered 77 rooms in total and welcomed in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services and a hotel safe. Further facilities include a restaurant, WLAN Internet access and a car park. All studios and apartments are spacious and decorated in a modern style with very bright colours. Most of the rooms have a private balcony or terrace with direct sea views. All rooms are equipped with satellite TV and a private bathroom with a shower. All these facilities are offered free of charge.

A Wonderful Week at Ikones Suites
We had a truly wonderful week at Ikones Suites and enjoyed every moment of our stay. From the very beginning, we felt warmly welcomed and genuinely well taken care of.
All the staff were incredibly friendly, kind and helpful, and their warm and personal way of treating guests really made a difference. A special thank you to Tania and the lovely team at the reception.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the facilities are excellent. Our room was absolutely lovely, beautifully designed, very comfortable and, above all, spotlessly clean. We were also very happy to receive a room upgrade, which made our stay even more special.
I also had the opportunity to enjoy the spa, and it was a wonderful experience. A very special thank you to Nicol and Eleanna, who made my spa experience so relaxing and enjoyable.
The beach right in front of the hotel is beautiful and perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sea. One small thing worth mentioning is that the sun loungers on the beach come with an additional charge of €14 per day for two loungers. This amount is considered a minimum spend and can be used towards food and drinks. We also really enjoyed the food.
We left Ikones Suites with wonderful memories and would happily come back. A big thank you to the entire team for making our holiday so special. Highly recommended!
Some points that could be considered to make it a vip experience
The restaurant that is included in the half pension concept doesnt really take into account a family of 4 people. You cant reserve a table but if you go for dinner they dont have a table for you ready either and you are suppose to wait? I think they could do a better job here, if necessary with reservations so you are expected.
Another point of small criticism are the prices for wine and cocktails at the bar. I believe these are overprised for guests staying at your hotel. Lunch however is at a fair price at the bar and on the beach.
Overall nice hotel with nice rooms, good location, nice working staff!

Great hotel
The Ikones suites is a beautiful hotel, very well kept, clean, tidy and modern. It faces the sea so has a beautiful view however if you have a seaview room be aware that the road is quite busy, all day. It’s not restful to sit on the balcony and it faces north so you don’t get the sun, only if you’re on the higher floors. That said it wouldn’t deter us from staying again. The food is well cooked, displayed lovely and any empty platters are replaced with food immediately. There is much choice at breakfast and healthy choices too. There are hot and cold choices much the same each day. The choice is varied at dinner, fish, meat dishes and lots of vegetarian food. Great starters and desserts too. The staff are very attentive, efficient and well mannered in all areas, restaurant, reception, servicing the rooms. The only thing I would say is that the entertainment is extremely and obtrusively loud in the evening. If like us you pay extra for a seaview or maybe a private pool, the music plays so loud that we were unable to relax. This goes on until 11pm! The music is outside so can be heard in and outside the hotel. Shame really as if an early night is required to go on an early day trip the next day, you’re unable to sleep until it’s finished. There are sunbeds but on the beach opposite and there’s a charge of 14 euros per day, which is excessive given that this is a 4/5 star hotel, they should really be free to residents. Beautiful hotel though and great staff and food. I would have given it 5 out of 5 if it wasn’t for the sun beds and the entertainment noise.

Ikones Hotel Visit
We booked a x10 days holiday at this x5 star resort.
I did mail the reception in advance as my wife has stage x3 cancer a serious heart condition and treatments for skin cancer recently all after sorting her mums estate after her death recently, so our expectations were maybe that we might get some small upgrade or special room to soften all that stress.
This sadly did not happen but the room was adequate considering their x5 star rating.
Some staff were really nice as that has always been our previous experience in Greece in the past however we found only a handful of these at this resort that seemed they wanted to please or show real interest, this became more evident as our time went on.
Sadly for all guests staying the weather took a turn for the worst with major storms and travel restrictions including x4 government warnings not to go out and about but no mention of this back at the hotel.
Once the weather cleared unfortunately as my wife’s immune system is compromised she picked up food poisoning from the bar food and suffered for x5 days plus, in fact we both came back with some minor issues still.
We were understandably told not to go to the restaurant but no help or advice other than that.
I also picked up the same issue and on one occasion i ordered room service to be greeted by staff wearing face masks, issue what issue we were told….We arrived at breakfast once able only to be shown the hand gel dispenser not visible before, issue what issue….
Avoid rooms 329/328 as they appear to be below the kitchen so from 04:30 onwards until 07:00 opening there is lots of preparation sound that transmit through the floor.
We had a funny experience with being locked out of our room safe which it turns out are not attached to anything, I got some strange looks when as we were due out for a meal I suggested bringing it down to reception to fix, it got sorted in our room but they missed the point about it not being attached to the wall in our wardrobe.
Overall once the weather changed and we could get up and out the old town was full of restaurants and we found some favourites.
The hotel however we will not be back to for most of the issues mentioned above and the complete lack of guest information especially if you are not from a preferred country in Europe.
We never saw the main pool cleaned and it got more murky as the time went on.
Anyway that’s our personal point of view and experience of the Ikones Suites in Crete for now.
Special mention however to Sofia on reception for all her help and interest and Irena the room cleaning lady who although did not speak English was just lovely and understanding.
