Surrounded by 35,000 m2 of maintained gardens, the luxury beach hotel Minoa Palace Resort & Spa is perfectly situated frontline to the beach in the cosmopolitan area of Platanias in Crete. The picturesque town of Chania with its museums, shops, restaurants, bars, taverns and nightlife options is about 12 km away. The international airport of Chania can be reached within a 30-minutes drive. The hotel boasts magnificent views of the eternal blue of the Aegean Sea, the mountains and the surrounding countryside. The elegant rooms, suites and bungalows are luxuriously appointed and decorated in a minimalist contemporary style. All feature air-conditioning and high-speed WIFI. Other top-class features of the hotel include 4 outdoor pools, an excellent conference centre, sports facilities, a fully-equipped gym, a fantastic spa area as well as various fine restaurants and cosy bars. Truly the best way to enjoy a sunny Crete holiday surrounded by luxury and style.
Wow, wow and WOW! What a true 5-star experience from start to finish. We stayed at Minoa Palace Resort during our anniversary and the hotel surprised us with a bottle of Prosecco and a delicious chocolate mousse cake in our room, which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. We also got a voucher for a special breakfast at Galazios.
The staff were absolutely wonderful throughout our stay, they were genuinely friendly, welcoming and helpful. We couldn’t believe how many staff members there were around the resort, and everywhere was kept spotlessly clean at all times.
There is so much to do without the hotel ever feeling hectic. There are multiple pools and activities taking place every day and I especially loved the aqua fitness class, which was so much fun! The beach bar on the other side of the hotel, near Galazio, was gorgeous and the buffet lunch was fantastic value for money.
Breakfast was fresh, varied and had an incredible amount of choice every morning. We stayed on a B&B basis so didn’t have dinner at the hotel, although we were seriously jealous when we saw the BBQ night as it looked amazing!
The location is also ideal. The hotel is on the main strip in Platanias but right at the quieter end, so you’re away from the busiest and loudest bars while still being within easy walking distance if you want restaurants, shops and nightlife.
The only thing worth mentioning is that the beach in this part of Platanias is quite shingly. If you’re looking for a completely sandy beach, we found the beach further along towards Agia Marina much nicer, although it was around a 20–30 minute walk away. This is obviously about the local coastline rather than the hotel itself and certainly didn’t take away from our experience.
We genuinely cannot fault Minoa Palace Resort. Beautiful surroundings, fantastic facilities, exceptional staff and so many thoughtful touches. We had an amazing stay and would absolutely recommend it. A proper 5-star experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Minoa Palace Resort is a place to go when you want to indulge yourself and need a relaxing holiday. We enjoyed our last week next to the sea at the resort. We keep returning to the Minoa Palace year after year and will do that again. Peaceful atmosphere, beautiful environment and wonderful polite personnel.
Minoa Palace Resort suits families, couples and expecially for us as wine lovers. Hotel has an exquisitive Wine Cellar and highly experienced and rewarded sommelier George Papadakis. We appreciate his deep knowledge and warm approch in to the world of wines. We had a marvellous private wine tasting experience and were guided to the secrets of Greek wines 🥰
We also recommend five course dinner at Resorts Galazio Restaurant which perfectly paired food and wine. Several restaurants of the hotel ensured delicious Cretan and international food.
Cant wait for the next time. Warm thanks from Finland to Minoa Palace Resort ❤️
We are here now and wanted to give an honest review. We are in the beach side of the hotel having paid to upgrade to a side sea view. The rooms are ok, a little tired but comfortable beds. The biggest issue is the smoking. Smoking is allowed on the balconies and guests on both sides of us are regularly smoking. This means our balcony is almost unusable and we must keep our balcony door shut. It’s a real shame. The food is good (we are B&B) - fairly basic breakfast but excellent service. In fact every member of staff has been first class. I’m sorry to say that the smoking issue would put me off returning. Hopefully in the future, they might follow the no smoking rules that some of their European neighbours have implemented!
Would highly recommend this hotel was absolutely beautiful we had a group of 22 for my wedding 4 families and the hotel was beautiful, staff were friendly couldn’t do enough for us while we stayed here the food was good and the location was also spot on . We would most definitely visit again
A fantastic hotel. We stayed here last year and came back again this year. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly—both at the reception and at the beach bar. They are so good that the hotel deserves an extra star, if that were possible. A special shout-out to the waiter, Konstantinos, who was efficient and truly outstanding. It turned out he was a trainee; you would have thought he had been working there for years. That speaks volumes about the quality of the staff. I recommend renting a beach cabana and, if possible, booking a room in the Imperial section. Even though it is a very large hotel, it feels personal. The breakfast is also impeccable. If you are going to Platanias, stay here!
