Grecotel Lux Me White Palace

We’ve just had a brilliant, properly relaxing week at Grecotel LUXME White Palace and were genuinely sad to leave. The staff throughout were fantastic and couldn’t do enough to help. A special shout-out to Charlotte in the Wine Library, who was lovely - being able to grab a decent bottle to take back to the room was a great addition and something I have not experienced before in other hotels. We had a Petit Yali swim-up room, which was well worth it. Direct pool access and dedicated loungers took away any of the usual holiday hassle of finding a lounger and gave us easy access to our room. The all-inclusive setup here is genuinely high standard. The drinks are excellent quality, especially the wine and sparkling wine, and the food was consistently great. Standouts for us were Asia White, The White, and the trip up to Agreco Farm. Top tip: Pre-book your dinners on the app at least a week before you get there, otherwise you’ll struggle to get the restaurants and times you want. Faultless week away - highly recommended.

Luxme White, Crete has many positives such as the beautiful location, well trained friendly staff , overall great food and wine options and outstanding fine dining and service in the White Restaurant.
The wine library is a great addition and you can sample the various wines on offer and can order a bottle with your meal. The complimentary wine tasting with Charlotte is well worth doing and quite an experience! The pools are clean and beach (sand and shingle) with shallow access is great for swimming. However being on the North coast it is prone to windy conditions so expect some red flag days! We were also impressed that communication pre arrival was very good- Marilena sorted all our requests and restaurant reservations etc very efficiently. Reception staff were generally helpful and efficient with most queries. Housekeeping staff were excellent and rooms and public areas all kept very clean. There were always plenty of beach towels available without hassle of having to collect as always replaced in room. Shower and air con all worked well and good fridge in room.
Waiter service from bars was good- cocktails varied, best was made by Giorgios at Long Bar. In the buffet restaurant it was great to have salad type items and desserts in separate cool rooms. Generally fresh fruit selection and desserts were very good. Bakery items were excellent, especially at breakfast. Poached eggs, omelettes and decent bacon regularly available along with all other usual items. Breakfast was probably the best of buffet meals. Excellent pizzas and club sandwiches for lunch at the Italian! The gelateria / creperie was very good - great ice creams, coffee and crepes. The lounger policy ( no early reserving ) works well and there are usually plenty available unless you want a prime spot!

Now the negatives!
We booked a sea view swim up but unfortunately this was a non sea view swim up as the view from the room was of the hedge on the other side of the pool! We queried this with reception but they still insisted it was a sea view room!
The room itself although clean and functional was well below expectations for 5 star! The main issue was lack of storage space, as very few drawers, only small surface area in room- even space on bedside tables taken up by huge lamps! Lighting was poor in bathroom and main room. Only one chair in room that can accommodate 3 people! Bathroom facilities were basic with small walk in shower and single basin.

We were lucky to have booked à la carte restaurants most evenings as the buffet was hit and miss whether lunch or dinner. Food was often not hot enough even when freshly brought out from kitchen. The live cooking stations were good though! The adults only section of the buffet restaurant is far too small for the number of couples in the hotel and there is no real separation from noisy family groups. Breakfast juices were poor quality, tasted as if from concentrate and no smoothies available. In other 5 star Greek hotels we have had freshly squeezed juice and choice of freshly made smoothies. There was no evening turn down service which we have had elsewhere. There is no adult only bar area and no quieter area to sit away from family groups and the entertainment. The included farm trip was disappointing as although in a beautiful setting, it was disorganised and very rushed. The food and wine were pretty basic! Bizarrely one of the tapas included 2 fried eggs which had to be shared between 6 people on our table! Coach for return to hotel was too small for number of people and some people had to stand!

Overall we enjoyed our holiday but even with a real sea view probably would not return unless rooms were upgraded and some of the other issues resolved.
Management will need to address these issues if they want to compete with other 5 star Greek hotels .

We have just spent a fantastic 8 days in the LuxMe White hotel. I was a little hesitant when booking as it isn't the cheapest but I needn't have worried. The hotel is incredibly well run to a genuine 5 star standard of customer service. The restaurants, bars, buffet and the level of additional special little touches (cake and chocolate boutique and a gellateria by the pool!) really ensure that you don't feel you need to leave the hotel. Normally I get bored in this type of hotel but in this case, there was really nothing to dislike and it was large enough to do something different most days. The main pool was especially nice, I used the gym regularly too. We went out to the Agreccofarm restaurant one night and that was also excellent. We chose the smallest standard Mountain View room which was a fair walk from the centre of the hotel. The room was a little small but you couldn't fault the beds, bedding and all facilities in the relatively small space. If you can afford one of the bigger sea facing rooms, I'd go for one of those but to be honest, we only slept there and used all the facilities to the max. Specific mention must go to the staff and the team at the LuxMe White. They are exceptionally customer centric and well trained and it really shows. Nothing felt like too much trouble and they were impressively staffed in all areas. Make sure you book the restaurants but if you can't get in, the main buffet is of such a high standard, you won't feel shortchanged. They even have a sommelier there too so if you like your wine, you are in for a treat. Highly recommended and as a relaxing holiday experience, it was worth every penny.
