A huge thank you to the wonderful staff—incredibly kind and smiling, they made our holiday an unforgettable experience. The rooms were fine, the beach was beautiful, and there were plenty of opportunities to play sports. The food was also amazing. One of the best holidays ever.
Wonderful bar and restaurant staff, but disappointing experience with the rooms and reception
My mom and I recently stayed at Almyra Resort, and although there were several disappointing aspects of our stay, I especially wanted to recognize four members of staff who were wonderful: Layre, Louis, ArAr, and Aronil.
Layre, Aronil, and Louis at the bar were friendly, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely made our time at the resort SO much more enjoyable. ArAr, who served us at the buffet restaurant, was also wonderful — warm, kind, attentive, and always made us feel welcome. All four of them provided excellent service and were definitely some of the highlights of our vacation.
Unfortunately, our overall experience with the resort was much more mixed. We had an air-conditioning problem in our first room on the first night and also encountered ants in both our original room and the second room we were moved to.
We were also very disappointed with how reception handled our request for a late checkout on our final day. Our airport transfer was not arriving until around 10 PM, and we had been told by our travel agent that we could pay to extend the room from the normal 11 AM checkout until approximately 6 PM. I first asked about this when we checked in and was told to return the day before departure. When I did, I was told to come back later that evening; that evening I was told to come back again in the morning. After asking several times and being prepared to pay the €70 we were quoted at check-in, we were finally told that no rooms were available and that we could not even extend checkout by one hour to noon. This left my mom and me with very little notice to pack and without a room from 11 AM until our transfer at approximately 10 PM.
The repeated back-and-forth with reception was frustrating and could have been handled much better.
That said, Layre, Aronil, Louis, and ArAr were fantastic and deserve five stars for their service. A big thank you to all four of them for being so kind to my mom and I, and for making a difficult “5-star all inclusive resort” stay considerably more enjoyable!
Enjoyable stay, but the room fell short of five-star standards
The hotel is located close to the beach, in a quiet and peaceful area.
The service in the restaurant and bars was of a very high standard. The food was varied and very tasty. I would also highly recommend trying the à la carte restaurants.
Unfortunately, the main drawback of our stay was the room. We checked in at night, and upon arriving in our room, we noticed that some of the bed linen was dirty, with visible stains. For a five-star hotel, I expected a somewhat higher standard when it comes to the cleanliness of the room.
At first glance, the room appeared clean, but a closer inspection revealed that some areas had clearly not been cleaned for a long time. This included the space between the walls and the suspended ceiling, as well as the areas underneath and behind the furniture, particularly in the bathroom, where there was visible dust and other debris. We also found dead spiders, including some on the bathroom ceiling, as well as live spiders in several other places. There were also ants around the balcony area.
We reported the issue to reception immediately. Initially, we were told that our room would most likely be changed. Eventually, after approximately 10 hours, the room was given a “thorough cleaning”, which in practice mainly resulted in the bed linen being replaced. However, the areas underneath and behind the furniture were still not cleaned, and even dead spiders on the bathroom walls were left untouched.
After contacting reception again, we had to personally show the cleaning staff what still needed to be cleaned. Unfortunately, due to the language barrier, the problem was never fully resolved.
Overall, we consider our holiday to have been enjoyable, but unfortunately, the issues with the room mean that we would not choose to stay at this hotel again.
One of the best times I have had abroad from Sweden in a long time would really love to come back next year if we win!
Very good location for the value would really love to come back loved the room me and my partner had we loved the food the drinks and especially the people that worked there such as Denis our guy leonidas the boss James the best shot maker and lastly Winsor aka Lesley chow the best bartender at the hotel we would really love to come back and see all of you again at this beautiful hotel 10/10
Wonderful Family Vacation in Crete
We had a wonderful family vacation at Almary Resort in Crete and were very satisfied with our stay. Everything was great — the food was delicious and varied, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the sea was absolutely beautiful. We had a really great time and enjoyed every day of our holiday. The atmosphere was relaxing and perfect for a family vacation. A special thank you to Denis, the bartender, for his excellent service, friendliness and positive attitude. He really made our evenings even more enjoyable! We are very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend Almary Resort for a family holiday in Crete.
