When we arrived, our room had a strong musty smell and contained a dehumidifier that was showing humidity levels of around 70%. After inspecting the room, we found visible signs of moisture damage and what appeared to be mold behind the wardrobe. As allergy sufferers, we experienced breathing discomfort and did not feel comfortable sleeping in the room.
We reported the issue immediately, but were told that no other room was available and that the problem would only be checked the next day. After being moved to a different room, we discovered further signs of moisture-related damage, this time on the bathroom ceiling.
The staff were polite and eventually arranged a room change, but we were surprised that rooms with such obvious moisture issues were considered acceptable for guests in the first place. The fact that we encountered similar problems in more than one room raises serious concerns about maintenance and building conditions.
We cannot recommend this hotel to guests who are sensitive to mold, humidity, or indoor air quality.
Good morning. I would like to share my impressions from my stay at the Giannoulis Almyra Beach Resort (Koutsounari). The hotel does not live up to its 5-star rating. I will focus only on the negatives. Let me start with the room. After the first night, I found a "lake" on the floor stretching from the entrance door halfway into the bedroom. It turned out water was pouring down through the hallway closet from the floor above—likely from the air conditioning, though it seemed like far too much water for that. It was a good thing I hadn't unpacked my suitcase into the closet, or everything would have been soaked. Throughout my seven-day stay, the tap water had a rusty tint; it only ran clear the day before I left. Now, regarding the hotel restaurant—or rather the staff, specifically one waiter with a hoarse voice. He was very unpleasant and rude. When clearing plates, he would tell guests to move aside, even though there was plenty of space for him to collect them. The restaurant is open until 9:30 PM; however, the night before our departure—we wanted a quick bite since we were leaving the hotel at 2 AM—this waiter refused to let us in, claiming it was already closed, even though there were still plenty of customers inside. Now, regarding the poolside hotel bar: the staff—specifically, just one young woman working the evening shift—was working herself to the bone trying to serve guests, yet the line remained very long. While she was pleasant and quick, there should have been at least three bartenders for that number of guests. The staffing level was inadequate for a 5-star hotel and considering the price of the stay! I was surprised to see the staff washing cups and glasses in the sink for the entire seven days instead of using a dishwasher (apparently, it had broken down). As for entertainment: aside from a one-hour vocal performance on a single evening, there was nothing. I missed having a "Greek Night." Throughout the stay, I kept noticing a heavily tanned man who behaved rudely and wouldn't even return a greeting. It turned out he was the manager, yet he acted as if he owned the hotel. Saving the best for last: the friend I was traveling with—who had visited this hotel three times, most recently six months ago—remarked that things used to be much better back then: the food was superior, there was plenty of seafood, there were far more bar staff and waiters, and there were numerous guest events, including a Greek Night. The previous manager had maintained high standards. In short, the hotel’s quality is declining while prices remain high. In my opinion, it deserves 4 stars, and the owners should consider replacing the manager and some of the staff. Best regards, Piotr
We had a good stay overall and would rate this resort 4/5.
The food was one of the highlights. The buffet was refreshed frequently, offering a great variety of balanced dishes with excellent options for every taste and all the main nutrients. A special mention goes to the desserts, which were delicious every day. The restaurant staff were always smiling, friendly, and welcoming.
Our room was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which was much appreciated. The only downside was the bathroom, as it had no window.
The biggest issue with this resort is the wind. We were lucky because we had a rental car, but the resort itself is almost always very windy. Surprisingly, just 500 meters away the wind is much weaker. Because of this, eating outdoors or relaxing by the pool is not always enjoyable or even possible.
The beach could also be better maintained. Several sunbeds were broken, and many were “reserved” all day and night, making it difficult to find a free one.
Room cleaning was acceptable but sometimes felt rushed and wasn’t always up to the expected standard.
Overall, it’s a beautiful resort with excellent food and friendly staff, but the constant wind and a few maintenance issues prevent it from being a perfect experience.
Everything is perfect. A luxury family hotel with the best food and drinks.
3 star at the most , if you don’t have a rental car or have bought all inclusive you have to rely on the store at the hotel and eat candy or chips , nothing to eat for 10-12 kilometers, no restaurant or bar or anything nearby, rooms are no good , ants coming in through doors, nothing in room , no water except brownish rusty water from sink, I’m so disappointed will never come back! Food in all inclusive not so good either, if you are a picky eater you will just have to be hungry, because there’s nothing else to eat , no room service nothing to grab a bite in walking distance:
