This charming resort hotel is set right next to a gorgeous sandy beach in the tiny resort town of Kokkini Hani, halfway between Heraklion and the larger resort town of Chersonissos. The hotel features 441 air-conditioned guest rooms, family rooms and bungalows with warm, cheerful décor, en suite marble bathrooms, mini bar, and satellite television. Guests can wake up to a satisfying breakfast buffet in the main restaurant and dine in the Chinese restaurant, and can find tasty treats and refreshing drinks throughout the day at the café, traditional tavern, and five hotel bars. Overall disappointing
We are here now and halfway through our trip so here is the good and bad. We've been to a few 5* AI so we have a good barometer by now. My overall view is I'm disappointed and can't see us booking again here. We've been unlucky with the weather but for the price we paid and our experience elsewhere I think I'll go somewhere else next year. We are a family of 3 with a nearly 3 year old.
Good *The overall space is pretty nice and grounds are good. *Kids splash pad and slides are good *little bar at splash pad was great service *Bar areas and choice of restaurants are good *Loungers are very comfy *Beds are very comfy *Shower is great *Greek was lovely food *we've had some great waiting staff *toddler loved the evening disco *mini bar is topped up well
Meh *Food isn't as good as id expect buffet breakfast and dinner is just OK *Beach isnt clean lots of rubbish and fag nubs in the sand... Not nice with a toddler. *Standard room is too small.. We tried to upgrade but they didn't have space... And it was too much trouble to actually communicate this so they just didn't phone me. *some weird things on a la carte menus *so glad I booked a la cartes 2 weeks before arriving as otherwise we wouldn't have been going *kids play area is boring and kept my toddlers attention for less than 10 minutes
Bad *Often in the evenings there is one girl doing all the work at the bar whilst others stand around and watch *Some staff are rude *our room was never cleaned properly... A half made bed which I had pretty much done and the mirrors were filthy! ( I keep my room clean and tidy whilst on holiday but I do expect them to have a quick wipe round. *bar service is slow at most bars *both lifeguards, staff and other guests can't seem to shut the gate at the little splash pad area or into the pool at the bottom of the slides making it unsafe for playing toddlers. (I'm never leaving my child for a minute but let's make the area secure for them surely?!) *local area is a bit of a dive!
Excellent holiday!
This was one of my best holidays! I really enjoyed the scenery and the beach . We also took a great trip to West Crete which was amazing ! The food and services were excellent and we found no fault!
Great family hotel
I brought my wife and kids to this resort and had a blast! The slides were their favorite pass time in the day time and the kids club ladies entertained my kids in the afternoon!

Beautiful hotel, ruined by food poisoning
We wanted to eat out instead because we didn't trust the hotel food, but there isn't much around the area, so we didn't really have a choice.
Drinks service was slow throughout the hotel. We had a swim-up room, which is supposed to come with a service that brings drinks to you, but in reality it seemed non-existent. For a 5-star hotel, you shouldn't have to wait so long or chase someone to get a drink.
The main restaurant doesn't have much selection for a hotel at this level. To be fair, we didn't struggle to get a table at the à la carte restaurants, but I'd recommend booking before you arrive or speaking to reception as soon as you check in.
Privacy was another letdown. You can hear everyone in the corridor and next door from inside the room. Outside, you can see into other people's back areas, and we'd have liked those spaces sectioned off.
We spent a lot of money on this as a break away for me and my partner, and it was ruined by food poisoning and the other issues above. Lovely staff and a stunning setting, but for us this isn't a 5-star hotel.
Totally recommended!
This hotel is absolutely brilliant! We had a really good time despite of the bad weather . The guys from the bar kept us great company and took really good care of us. Our holiday was both relaxing and invigorating, our room was comfortable clean and had the best sea view . I recommend this hotel 100%!
