We stayed at this hotel for a week with my 6-year-old daughter. Based on their reviews and the description on Love Holidays and other websites, we were under the impression that there would be plenty of entertainment for children. We travel frequently and are used to daytime activities such as painting, hat-making, and pool games, as well as evening shows and dances that keep kids happy and allow adults some rest. However, I must say we were quite disappointed to find that the entertainment was minimal—just 3-4 songs in the morning performed by a few entertainers who would briefly come by the pool with a dance routine and that was it. There was no ongoing or engaging entertainment for children during the day or evening. We also had an incident at the "kids' club," which is essentially just a room with a few toys and chairs. My daughter and some of her holiday friends played with what appeared to be wristbands, not realising they shouldn’t touch them. One of the staff members, a tall blonde French girl, was very rude and unprofessional. She had an angry expression, dismissed the children abruptly, left and locked the “kids club” room, which was upsetting. During our 7-night stay, the only evening entertainment consisted of two nights with live bands playing old-school songs—music that children wouldn’t enjoy or find engaging. On the plus side, the hotel is very clean, and the staff are generally polite and helpful, aside from the entertainment staff member. The food was okay—most days, it was the same slow-cooked beef, and we had to be cautious with the chicken, as some pieces were still pink inside. We had one double bed (two singles) and one site bed which was very uncomfortable and made with a fin mattress (it was more like a cushion rather than a mattress) The hotel’s location is convenient, right by a bus stop, making it easy to visit the old town and other areas. However, the surrounding area is quite quiet with not much going on. Malibu Beach is nearby but very crowded. Overall, I wouldn’t return to this area, primarily due to the misleading information online. This is not a child-friendly hotel—if my daughter hadn’t made two holiday friends, she would have been very upset. There’s no playground, no dedicated kids' pool, and very little entertainment for children, which was disappointing.
We really loved this hotel. Views from the hotel of mountains and sea were wonderful. Room was comfortable and spacious and the bathroom and shower very good. We had a big balcony with a lovely view of the sea and mountains. We loved the swimming pool and there were plenty of sunbeds and the day beds and again the views were lovely. The food in the restaurant and snack bar was very good. The staff on reception were really helpful and the waiters in the restaurants and the bar staff worked really hard. We found bars along the road and by the beach which we liked especially Woodpecker. For a change we had a meal in Alexandra’s on the road in front of the hotel which we enjoyed. We went on a BBQ boat trip recommended by the hotel which we all loved. Antonio was very funny and also a good cook. We found the buses to Corfu town easy to use but extremely busy. We would stay at this hotel again without hesitation.
We have just stayed here for 1 week, I’ll start with a positive, we requested a sea view room and that is what we got, view was picture perfect in a separate block to the hotel, quite a steep slope to climb and some steps. The room was cleaned very well so also no complaint there. Next the negatives, staff were ok, not very attentive, not very personable, sometimes quite rude. Food was not great, it was a buffet restaurant, very samey each day, quite nice mousse on the sweet station, we ate out for 4 evenings because we couldn’t face another evening “thrown together meal “. Alcoholic drinks, beer was awful, local spirits so not great, soft drinks were not great, taste of syrup or very flat. There was no entertainment during the day apart from Bon Jovi or Adele on a loop for an hour, very poor in the evenings so we went out most nights. One night they had a member of staff doing a DJ stint which was very good. The pool was cleaned every morning and we could get a sun bed, just boring with no atmosphere, the reps for Oclub who tried water aerobics were poor and didn’t really get a lot of people to join in, they had no entertainment to get people to join in, no fun games or quizzes or water games, just very boring. Now to get to the bar from the pool - WOW those steps, not a good hotel if you have mobility issues, no way you’d get to the bar, on the whole not a hotel I would visit again, hence why we went out most days / evenings, which after paying for all inclusive made this an even more expensive week than it should have been, very disappointed ☹️
I have just recently yesterday from this hotel after staying for 10nights with my husband and 16year old daughter. We had a lovely time and felt totally relaxed from the moment we arrived. We felt there was a very chilled and relaxed vibe at this hotel for the whole holiday. Staff are friendly. Hotel is spotless pool cleaned thoroughly too every day. Food is lovely with a great selection and also a good choice available at the snack bar. Good selection of cocktails on the all inclusive menu. There is another block with another pool and a small block at back of hotel with some rooms. One beauty is there no sunbed wars. Our roomed looked out on to the pool and the first morning we got up and was pleasantly surprised there was plenty of sunbeds available . So no need to rush down early. On a bus route number 7 can get it right outside hotel into gouvia and Corfu or get it in other direction to ipsos. You can get bus tickets from the hotel shop. Would definitely stay here again. The only shall minor point is the steps going down from the bar to the pool area are very step
We just stayed in Iolida for the week and we were sure that people with negative reviews weren’t staying at this hotel!
The rooms were spotless, the staff were welcoming, the variety of food was impressive and the aircon was great. The pool was also lovely and warm and it was always easy to get a sunbed, no sunbed wars at all.
Another mention was the snack bar, the lovely lady who ran it works really hard and there was different foods everyday.
There is also an onsite shop for necessities , snacks , etc and the lady who worked in there made our time- she was lovely!
The only downsides to the hotel is that my partner and I became sick during the week and we aren’t sure whether this was due to the hotel food or being in a different country.
There was occasionally an eggy smell around the hotel but the reviews make it sound awful and unbearable- it was not.
There were many many mosquitoes and wasps around bodies of water or places where you eat food.
As for the entertainment, there was not huge amounts of this throughout the day and the evenings. If you’re looking for this to be a big deal during your holidays, Iolida may not be for you.
There is not much about outside of the hotel without taking a 30 minute bus journey to Corfu town or Ipsos. There are a few restaurants but nothing mad, it’s very quiet. The bus stop is conveniently right outside of the hotel.
We would stay here again :)
