Creta Blue Boutique Hotel

Fantastic boutique style hotel, amazing food and absolutely incredible staff!

We had a slight hiccup when we arrived. We’d booked a room with a panoramic sea view but were initially given a view of a Leylandii hedge! 😂 Thankfully, George, the owner, sorted it out quickly. Although we didn’t get the panoramic view we’d originally booked, the alternative room was considerably better.

George is a true gentleman — approachable, friendly and genuinely keen to make sure his guests are happy. Any issues are dealt with quickly and without fuss.

The restaurant is fantastic, with a great choice of food, and the fish dishes were out of this world. And whatever you do, try the apple pie — it’s something very special!

But the real stars of Creta Blue are the staff. The whole team are brilliant, but Lavina and Sophia deserve a special mention. They are simply the best hosts we have ever experienced. They couldn’t do enough for us, always with huge smiles, incredible energy and genuine warmth.

I’ve never come home from a holiday knowing the names of so many of the people who looked after us. Whatever George is paying Lavina and Sophia, it’s not enough! 😂

What started with a slightly disappointing arrival turned into arguably one of the best weeks’ holidays we’ve ever had.

We loved it so much that we’ve already booked to come back next September — and I suspect this could become a regular arrangement for many years to come!

Creta Blue — great hotel, fantastic food, and genuinely wonderful people. We can’t wait to return!

This was our first stay at George’s hotel which had been previously recommended by a friend. What a beautiful place, some 30 minutes from Heraklion airport and on arrival a warm welcome awaited.

The meals are first class and varied with all staff doing their utmost to provide a wonderful service. The location is superb with the hotel being nestled towards the top of the area so a panoramic view of the island is assured.

You are close to nearby shops and bars without that area feeling too busy, walk further and you can reach the beach where there are many more shops and restaurants to visit if you require them.

We booked the luxury spa suite room with a jacuzzi which was absolutely lovely in all aspects. This area is adults only and is complimented with a private balcony and swimming pool, shared by a maximum of 8 adults. These suites are a little more private than some of the other hotel rooms but whatever room you choose you will not be disappointed.

The rooms are very clean and looked after by a cleaner who was meticulous in her work, keeping it spotless every day. Mid week the cleaner prepared the towel swan with rose petals, totally unexpected and such a wonderful gesture. (See picture 1 below).

George, the hotel owner, radiates his passion and love for this hotel and that is reflected in his sincere warmth shown to all of his guests. This passion flows onto all of his staff, regardless of their roles.

If your looking for a traditional Crete experience look no further, this place is top drawer and as testimony to that we have booked for a return visit before we have finished this stay.

Just got back from a week at the Creta Blue Boutique Hotel and I felt compelled to leave a rave review for so many reasons.

Firstly, I’d like to give a massive shout-out to George and everyone at Creta Blue. Everybody knows that the Greeks are renowned for their hospitality, but the level of service and genuine friendliness here was nothing short of exceptional. Throughout our stay, nothing was ever too much trouble.

On the night of our arrival, George made sure the kitchen stayed open so we could have something to eat as we arrived late. We were travelling with our 9-month-old daughter, so the staff told us to go straight to our room and brought the food up to us. This actually happened on more than one occasion during our stay, and it made life so much easier for both me and my partner.

Every morning we were greeted at breakfast with nothing but smiles, and all of the staff absolutely loved interacting with our baby. There was plenty of choice, including eggs cooked several different ways, fresh fruit, pastries, tea and coffee. We didn’t really miss having the usual bacon and sausages — breakfast was genuinely excellent.

The pool area is lovely: peaceful, great views and with food and drinks readily available. The sun loungers deserve a special mention too — probably some of the most comfortable I’ve ever come across at a hotel!

The evening food was also some of the best we experienced in the village. There’s always a daily special, which tends to be homemade Greek food, alongside a lovely à la carte menu. My partner and I would consider ourselves pretty big foodies, and for a hotel, I’d say the food here is a genuine standout. Choosing half board was a no-brainer for us.

Our flight home wasn’t until late at night, and George even managed to find us another room to use until we left, completely free of charge. That level of kindness and hospitality is becoming increasingly hard to find, particularly at a hotel that already offers such a high standard of accommodation and food.

We also met so many guests who had returned to Creta Blue numerous times, which really speaks volumes about the place.

We’ve never really been the sort of family who returns to the same destination for holidays, but if we were looking for somewhere reasonably priced, relaxing and genuinely welcoming, Creta Blue would be right at the top of our list.

We’d happily recommend it to anyone and would love to return ourselves.
