Abaton Island Resort and Spa

We decided for this resort after hours of searching and reading the reviews. We were welcomed by the Guest Experience staff member, Sisi. And that was a very pleasant experience. It was explained to us to the details how the half board works, how to choose from the restaurants, the option to rent a bike, to book the yoga session etc. The room was ready for us earlier as we have an early flight. It was pretty clean, with the nice partial view to the see, shared pool and sun beds. Due to the heavy rain in previous days, sun beds were soaked. We asked twice to change it or to do something with it, however nothing happened. We also experienced the inconsistency in terms of cleaning. Despite we did not ask to make up the room, it was cleaned every day, even twice (and that would be OK), but also all the towels were changed, although we did not ask for it. It raised a concern regarding the sustainability, because it sounds like a lot of water and energy must be used. The other things that we loved and appreciated:

• overall hotel location (near the sea, private beach)
• design of the hotel, art, decoration
• food selection (incredible amount of choices for vegetable, fruits, cakes, different dishes)
• stuff - very kind, friendly (although sometimes struggling with English, but they tried hard). Need to give the credit to Sisi from Guest Experience team again who took care of us throughout the whole stay and we are very thankful.
• seating flexibility - for breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant, we were seated almost all the time to the different table that gives the feeling of something new
• half-board choices of 5 different restaurants with various focus
• 98% of the food was excellent quality and taste, really well done to the chef, sous-chef and pastry chef
• yoga classes and especially yoga instructor, Maria. Was not a big fan of yoga, but 4 different sessions with Maria changed my mind. Very approachable, patient to explain, answer any questions.

What could be improved:

• yoga venue - next to gym was not bad, but it deserves a better place. Somewhere outside, in open air.
• charing 5 EUR for the bottle of water during the half-board dinner. Should be included in HB.
• sustainability approach was mentioned already, plus it sounded like there was a lot of food remaining, not sure what was happening with it. Maybe to give it a second chance to somebody in need?
• in some areas, the small repairs would be needed.

All our expectations of a 5 Star Hotel were fullfilled. Very friendly people and relaxing atmosphere. Yoga lessons were a beniftial extra benefit.
