Situated right on a beautiful sandy beach just fifteen minutes outside of Chania on the island of Crete, this luxurious fully renovated beach hotel designed for adults offers a spectacular family holiday or romantic retreat of sea and sun. Guests might venture into Chania to explore its beautiful old town, or simply lounge in the sun by the expansive outdoor pool and sip a drink from the pool bar.
The spacious rooms and suites are bright and airy, all with an en suite bathroom and private balcony or terrace, and some with sea views and lavish private pools. Guests might sample traditional Greek and Cretan cuisine in the Matter main restaurant or 35° Cretan a la carte Restaurant, and enjoy a coffee and pastry in the Stellar Lobby Bar or Naked star Pool Bar. The wellness centre Orion Spa offers a spa, hot tub and fitness centre in addition to a range of massages and beauty treatments, and the hotel provides free Wi-Fi internet access throughout, all for a wonderful island holiday.

An Exceptional Stay at Asterion Suites & Spa, Crete ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We have just returned from an absolutely incredible stay at Asterion Suites & Spa in Crete, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. The hotel itself is beautiful, peaceful and luxurious, but what truly made our holiday so special was the incredible level of service and the wonderful people who work there. The food was simply out of this world. The quality, choice, presentation and attention to detail were outstanding. Every meal felt special, and there was always something delicious to look forward to. The wine list was also amazing — such an impressive selection and a real treat for anyone who enjoys good wine. The service throughout the hotel was impeccable. Everyone was so warm, friendly and genuinely caring, making us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. A very special mention must go to Manos, the Restaurant Manager, who was absolutely wonderful. His attention to detail, professionalism and genuinely lovely personality made such a difference to our stay. We also have to mention George and Tony behind the bar. They were fantastic — so friendly, attentive and always smiling. They went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after and enjoying ourselves. And Katerina from Guest Relations deserves a huge mention too. She was absolutely wonderful, incredibly helpful and made us feel so well looked after throughout our stay. We also had the most incredible couples massage at the spa. It was honestly one of the best massages we have ever experienced — so relaxing and beautifully done. It was the perfect way to completely switch off and unwind together, and was another highlight of an already amazing holiday. The rooms and beds were also fantastic — beautifully comfortable and exactly what you want when you're on holiday. Everything was clean, stylish and incredibly well maintained. Every member of staff we encountered was a credit to the hotel. It is very clear that Asterion takes enormous pride in its service, and that really does make the hotel stand out. This has genuinely been one of the best holidays we have ever had. We left feeling completely relaxed, looked after and, sadly, not ready to come home! Asterion Suites & Spa is a very special place, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, relaxing holiday with exceptional food, fantastic service and genuinely wonderful people. Lovely Spa!
I had 3 treatments during my stay and all were great. The care taken by the massage therapists and the overall vibe of the spa help you to unwind and relax totally during your stay

Just Book It - Excellent!
We recently returned from an absolutely top-class stay at Asterion Suites & Spa in Chania, and we are already looking forward to returning!
From the moment we set foot on the property to our final departure, the warmth and quality of the resort were evident. While the physical setting is lovely, what truly elevates this property to genuine five-star status is its people. A heartfelt thank you to each and every staff member for making our trip so exceptionally memorable.
Arrival & Accommodations
Seamless Check-In: After a journey, the last thing you want is a drawn-out check-in process. Arrival here was an absolute breeze—swift, welcoming, and relaxed. Immaculate Rooms: Our room was stunning, immaculate, and beautifully decorated with modern touches.
Effective Climate Control: A huge bonus was the air conditioning system; it was whisper-quiet yet powerful, blowing cold and high whenever needed to keep the room perfectly comfortable.
Outstanding Staff & Personalized Hospitality
The level of service here goes well beyond standard hospitality. Every single team member we encountered was consistently friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to help.
Main Restaurant Excellence: A massive shoutout to Ray and Van in the main restaurant for their attentive care, bright attitudes, and seamless service during meal times.
Pool Bar Attention to Detail: Special recognition goes to Antonis at the pool bar for providing some of the best service I've ever experienced. I tended to order the same drinks at various points throughout the day, and after the first couple of times, Antonis had already memorized my preferences. As I walked toward the bar, he was already prepping my drink! That kind of intuitive, thoughtful attention to detail is incredibly rare.
Guest Relations: Thank you to Katerina for her consummate professionalism and proactive guest relations management. She ensured every aspect of our stay ran smoothly.
Food, Dining & The Spa
Buffet Dining: The food was consistently delicious. The all-inclusive buffet is brilliantly curated. Rather than overwhelming guests with mountains of mediocre food that lead to unnecessary wastage, the hotel focuses on top-tier quality, beautiful presentation, and a fantastic balance of fresh, healthy options alongside regular favorites.
Spa & Wellness: I decided to book a sports massage at the spa to try and address a painful, nagging shoulder issue I'd been dealing with. The therapist did a phenomenal job—by the end of the treatment, the pain was completely gone. Truly therapeutic work!
Minor Points for Consideration
To give an honest and balanced picture for future guests, there were a couple of minor areas that could be improved:
À la Carte Steak: While the main buffet food was superb, our experience at the à la carte restaurant was a bit mixed. The beef steak I ordered was unfortunately quite gristly and fatty, which didn't quite live up to the high standards set by the rest of the culinary offerings.
Gym Facilities: The fitness center is quite small and felt a bit neglected compared to the rest of the hotel. It currently houses two treadmills, a small cable machine that was out of order (the cable was stuck), and a somewhat sporadic weight selection (dumbbells jumping randomly from 2kg, 5kg, 10kg, straight to 25kg without the mid-range weights). A quick tune-up and a few extra dumbbell pairs would make a huge difference for daily workouts.
Final Verdict
Despite those minor details, the incredible atmosphere, immaculate facilities, and above all, the unmatched warmth of the staff make Asterion Suites & Spa an absolute gem in Chania. We wouldn't hesitate to book again—thank you all for an exceptional holiday!
