The charming Orpheas Resort is located right on one of the most beautiful spots of Crete, on the beach of Georgioupolis between the towns of Rethymno and Chania, 17km and 38km away respectively. This hotel is built in a Venetian architectural style, making it stand out from other hotels and resorts. Comfortable rooms with elegant furniture, colours beyond the ordinary, spacious grounds, green and quiet environment await guests. The beautiful beach calls out to those who enjoy long strolls on the seashore. It is definitely a romantic sanctuary for couples. In this friendly and lovingly created hotel, guests can find peace of mind and revel in the summer beach life.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I had an amazing experience with Tatiana and Efstatiha, wonderful women. It was very relaxing!! Much recommend
This adults only resort is the definition of relaxation! The design and aesthetic of the resort is ambient and arty. I stayed in a junior suite, and the room was lovely quality with a balcony view over the gardens and pool towards the sea (see photo attached) - plus daily cleaning and fresh towels/linen with a very friendly cleaner! The service from all the staff is impeccable, they remember your room number from the first day and greet you with a smile whenever you cross paths. Complimentary snacks with drinks at the bars (and occasionally Raki) make you feel very welcome, making your holiday that much better. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good quality, with a good spread of different foods for both vegetarian and meat eating guests. The resort is not noisy either, besides the occasional music drifting in the wind from neighbouring resorts.
Lots of lovely tavernas and supermarkets in your doorstep, with a special mention to Mama Pelagia’s taverna, a lovely friendly taverna over the road from Orpheas. Hugely recommend going there on your visit!
The only notable mention is having to pay for sun loungers on the beach, about €13 for 3 for a whole day, so in the grand scheme of things it’s not that great of a fee - we were just unaware of this and got caught off guard.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Absolutely Fantastic, Peaceful Getaway – Highly Recommended!
We have just returned from a wonderful seven-night stay at the Orpheas Resort in Kavros (June 2026), and we couldn't be happier with our experience. If you are looking for a relaxing, high-quality, adults-only escape, this is the perfect place.
From the moment we arrived, the hotel felt incredibly welcoming. The entire property is kept spotlessly clean, and the staff are attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. My wife and I stayed in a lovely suite with stunning sea views. An incredible touch: our 22-year-old daughter was upgraded to a junior suite, which also boasted beautiful sea views. It made her stay extra special!
Breakfast: A brilliant buffet with a wide, varied selection of different foods to kickstart the day.
Evening Buffet: A couple of times we opted for the additional evening buffet, and it was just as impressive and varied as breakfast.
Pool Bar: A lovely, relaxed spot to hang out during the day. A massive plus is the direct access to the beach—you can easily take your drinks and food down to your sunbed.
If you stay here, you must visit the spa. I can highly recommend the massages given by Tatiana and Efstatina. They were well worth the money and served as a truly wonderful treat for our wedding anniversary!
The Atmosphere & Vibe Because this is an adults-only resort, the entire environment is incredibly quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. It is predominantly populated by couples. During our stay, the majority of guests were German, though we noticed more English guests arriving towards the end of our holiday. A couple of evenings featured a live DJ and some music, but for the most part, the vibe is all about pure relaxation.
The Local Area Kavros itself is a great area. It’s very picturesque and doesn't feel overly crowded or commercialised. There are also some lovely little traditional tavernas just a short distance away if you fancy exploring.
Final Verdict Overall, our holiday was a fantastic and thoroughly pleasant experience. We would highly recommend the Orpheas Resort to anyone and would certainly consider going back in a heartbeat!
Great resort, just about an hours transfer from the airport. Sits on the beach but there are a good amount of shops, bars etc over the road. All staff were friendly and attentive. We went half board which gave us breakfast and main meal, always a good variety of food, all buffet style. There was a pool bar during the day where food and drink were reasonably priced. No issues at all with the quality of food. Demographic during our stay was middle aged couples, everyone kept themselves to themselves but were friendly, very peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend a trip to Rethymno, a town about 25 mins on the bus which can be caught opposite the resort. Offers loads of shops, restaurants and bars. Highly recommended
This is our second visit to Orpheas Resort, and the first time we have ever gone back to the same hotel.
The hotel itself is intimate and peaceful (other than the cicadas of course!), the food is excellent and the staff are wonderfully friendly.
The prompt for this review was the back, neck and shoulder massage I had from Anna of Aegeo Spas.
It was the perfect blend of pressure and stretching, and I felt much more relaxed and looser afterwards.
A final mention for George, the barman, who makes (according to my wife) the best Pina Colada she's ever had, and we both love his strawberry daiquiris as well 😍
